John's Birthday present... a new addition to our family. Meet Rooster!

Here is a new member of the Gilley family. Rooster is a great horse but is proving to be a little bit stubborn. He is at some stables just down the street from us and we try to go see him as often as possible. So far John has rode him bareback and finally with the saddle but we are still working with him before the girls try by themselves.

Not quite Halloween

I am so bummed we don't have any pictures of Georgia in her Halloween costume. She was a cute little witch. She didn't get here til late on Halloween and then took her costume off before we could snap a photo. But we were playing dress-ups over the weekend so I included a few of her poses. This first picture gives me the giggles because it is such a Georgia face. When she is explaining something complex or with any doubt this is the face she makes and it just cracks me up!

Halloween

Nadia was a sailor for Halloween this year and looked so adorable. She was bummed though because everyone kept asking her if she was a nurse. Here are some fun photos from Halloween:

October

I haven't posted for a while I need to play a little catch up. Nadia turned 11 this month which I still can't get over. She is so grown up and has the biggest heart of anyone I know.
I also have a few posts from Halloween. Since I started this for family I thought I would start to include some of the funny things we experience with our girls. They keep us laughing all the time.
One of my favorites of Georgia is that she keeps telling us she wants to grow up and be cop. When we ask her why she says, "so I can shoot people." It is so funny because she is so serious and then she talks about that she wants to have a black gun and a pink gun. Some of the stories she tells are hilarious as well. We were in the car and she said she plays with knives at home and that the cops are going to come shoot her. This may sound morbid but as she tells it, it still has its innocence and we can't stop laughing.
Here are some recent photos:

Nadia was able to spend the afternoon of her birthday with her sister Norah. They are so adorable together!

This is the cutest video of the two of them. It cracks me up so I had to post it.

Nadia's little miracle

After over 2 years my little Nadia finally met her little sister, Norah. I don't think there has been a day that has gone by that Nadia hasn't talked about Norah or prayed for her. After all this time and due to the circumstances, I truely do consider it a miracle. I had no idea I would be so emotional. We were at church and when Nadia saw her I just started bawling. I can't imagine how that must have been for her. It was like seeing a hole in Nadia's heart for over 2 years finally become mended and whole. It was a huge answer to both of our prayers. I am so happy for her. And, of course, Norah is beautiful. She looks a lot like Nadia and a lot like her dad. I am not sure what will happen going forward but I really hope Nadia will get to be part of her life.

Our 2nd Anniversary!

Since we spent the weekend up at Sundance with the girls for the weekend we decided to just have a nice quiet dinner on our Anniversary. We both had busy days and hadn't spent time alone in quite some time so we decided to go to Cafe Trio because we were both craving the salmon. It was so nice and so fun!

For our Anniversary John bought a painting that we fell in love with in San Francisco about 6 months ago that has more meaning in a painting than I could have ever found. It is of the Tour de France and Paris but viewing right from the balcony of the hotel we stayed at last year on our 1st Anniversary. I was absolutely speechless and pretty much in shock! He had it hanging when I came home that night... he is such a spoiler! I was so surprised and so excited!

We also decided to actually try our wedding cake since we didn't do it last year because we were in Paris. A word of advice, 2 year old wedding cake that has been sitting in your freezer in a cardboard box and not sealed is not a good idea! John didn't think it was too bad but for some reason the idea of eating it, I could only handle one bite. It was fun to fulfill a tradition though!

Georgia's First Day of Preschool

So Georgia started her first day of preschool last week! We were so excited for her and she looked so grown-up! She said she had fun and played with playdoh and cut it up. She loves her teacher Mrs. Connie and all her little friends. When I asked what their names were she just looked at me and said, "I don't know" like it was a dumb question and why should she need to know their names. She is too cute!!! She makes us laugh so hard.

Labor Day Weekend 2008

AKA our Anniversary weekend but we had the girls and decided to do something fun as a family. We rented cabin up at Sundance (where we got engaged) for the weekend and had some friends and family come join us. We had so much fun and the cabin was absolutely amazing. Not to mention we were in one of the most beautiful places in the world. The weekend was beautiful except Sunday night a storm came in and we got up to Snow covered mountain tops. I am not ready for winter but love the fall and coming down Provo Canyon it seemed to have that fall feeling with a few patches of fall colors already.
We also enjoyed some incredible meals with our friends Andre and Jim and their gorgeous girls Ava and Zoe. Thank you so much for your fabulous chef skills... we were spoiled! It was so fun to spend time with you guys this weekend.

Happy 2nd Anniversary Honey!!

I just wanted to say Happy Anniversary to my honey. I love you so much and am so blessed to have you in my life. I love you always and forever!!!

Congrats to the new Grandparents!

I had to post a pic of this because I still think it is so funny... my sister Sara is a grandma. What a hot little grandma though, hey? I also got a giggle out of what they named him. It is Eli and there last name is Lilly which is where John works (Eli Lilly) so we got a pretty big kick out of it. Congratulations Grandma Sara and Grandpa Scott! He sure is a cutie!

Honduras

I just got back from 2 weeks in Honduras on a mission trip. This is one of my favorite pics because of the 3 girls with me that I fell in love with. Vanessa, Carolina and Jeri live in a poor community in Los Pinos and came to breakfast every morning at the church with more love than I could have ever imagined. I will post more pics and notes of my trip shortly.

Trying this again

So we started this family blog a few months ago but never took the time to update it so we are trying it again. No promises on how often but we'll try!

Hi Grandma G and Aunt Mary!!!

Now you two have somewhere you can see the girls often. I don't know how good I will be about updating it but I hope to add new pictures every week. I have been trying to set this up for a while and finally found the time to get it finalized so I apoligize for the wait!

Tomorrow we are taking Georgia and Nadia to see Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana) at the Stadium of Fire along with Fireworks. It is suppose to be 102 degrees so hopefully the girls have a blast and don't notice the heat. It is going to be a late night.
