Draft Day

Flag football has begun! Today was the combine.....and then the draft!
Brae was drafted by Coach Cozzi, so he was THRILLED! (He's the 89'ers head coach during the regular tackle season).

Zach was automatically on the team Tyler is helping coach - a rule Wolfpack has, coaches must take their kids as their 2nd & 3rd picks in the draft...
February is going to be CRAZY BUSY.....double headers for both boys every Saturday!

Kelsey Creek Farm

One of my favorite memories as a child was going to this park in Bellevue. I don't know why I'd never taken my kids before, but it was long over due! It was fun to meet up with Natalie & her girls too!
I think these are the same toys that were there when I was little too!
It was Connor's usual day off of school, and I let Brae stay home that day too. Zach has a really hard teacher this year, so we didn't think it was a good idea for him to miss school.
Paityn was adorable as always :) She loved the ride-on toys!
Two of the Gunter girls - so cute!
Brae, although way too big for the toys, still found a way to have a blast...
If Ella had her way, she'd stay on the swing all day long!
Cheyann was great, she always is though - I couldn't ask for two better girls to babysit - I love them!
Brae was hilarious.....this sheep came right up to the kids, so he decided to have a "chat" with him...doesn't everyone talk to sheep?
Horses, a HUGE pig, goats, bunnies, chickens, cows...
It was fun, the perfect amount of exercise for the kids - just enough to tire them all out on the ride home!

Ella & Paityn being adorable & double-trouble as always!

Can't Win 'Em All....

This is what Brae looks like when he's ticked off......you will rarely see him like this. He takes his sports very seriously. He actually understands the game (both basketball & football) really well.  He's a natural born leader too.  We have found though, he also thinks he knows everything.....this night was no exception!  He was mad at his team mates....thinking they weren't working hard enough....
Now they are only 2nd graders....and not everyone can be an athlete like Brae...but he forgets that sometimes....but yes, the rest of his team really didn't show up to play that night.  Now, if we can just get him to remember that the coach (aka Dad) can handle the coaching & he just needs to worry about himself, lol!

Guess Who's a Boy Scout?

Turning 8 also means you get to start going to scouts! Brae was SO excited!!! (As I am posting this a month later....just want to mention that Brae has already COMPLETED the entire Wolf book....earning his Bobcat & Wolf! If he hasn't been at school or basketball, it's all he has been doing! I am exhausted....lol. If I don't hear about another scout requirement in the next few weeks, I'll be good!)

And the Birthday Weekend continues...........

Sunday morning we gave Brae his birthday present from us.....his own new set of scriptures - he knew he was getting them - it's just what our kids get when they turn 8! He was so excited to bring them to Church!
So this is the infamous Wii cake I made for his family party - with help from my friend Natalie - thanks Natalie for teaching me how to use fondant! It is SO much fun!!!! I tried a new recipe too - a lemon pound cake...I think it turned out pretty well :)
Opening presents....Aunt Mel & Aunt Charz gave him the same exact outfit :), but just so they know, when we exchanged one of them, we found matching Adida's shoes - so Brae is totally excited! That along with some birthday $ - he even got a sweatshirt to go with it - he's totally decked out in red/black! (His favorite color combination, thanks to being a Wolfpack football player!).
The cake, and angelfood cupcakes for those not wanting cake....
"Happy Birthday to You, Happy Birthday to You! Happy Birthday Dear Braeden, Happy Birthday to You!!!!
Blowing out his candles!
A little while after cake/ice cream....we look over at the table to find Jersie & Ella feeding Chewy 'snacks'....
These two are pretty cute together! We'd better watch out....they are going to be trouble! :)

2nd Grade Concert

VF held the 2nd & 3rd grade Concert at the Sumner PAC. What a treat for the kids to perform on such a big stage!
Brae singing, no stage fright for this guy!
A few kids had special parts, and got to play an instrument in one of the songs. Brae was one of those kids, "crashing" the cymbals together......
He even got to announce his part in the mic......he's so handsome! Good job Brae!

Happy 8th Birthday Brae!

It is so hard to believe that 8 years ago today you were born. Where did the time go? I remember going to the hospital & no one but dad being there when you arrived - since you came so fast! I don't think anyone expected you to arrive so quickly - litterally 2 pushes & you were here!
You are an amazing kid - loving, kind, & the biggest heart of anyone I've ever met! You tower over everyone your age, yet you are a gentle giant - you stick up for others & are a great brother. We know it can't be easy being the middle boy, but you sure know how to hold your own!

Brae, we are so proud of the boy you have become - and in just a few short weeks you will be baptized. What a special choice you have made, I'm sure that Heavenly Father is very happy with your choice. You are an example to all. We love you!

Once the friends all went home, we headed to Connor's first game, then onto Carly's game - finally one we were able to go to! She played great! We headed to Red Robin & invited along the family members who had been at Carly's game....it was a fun time!

Is there anything better than hanging out with some of your favorite people?
It was fun to share in our tradition of going to Red Robin on our birthdays!
Ella was a bit of a stinker...good thing we had Aunt Mel right there!
She was fascinated with the balloons Brae gave her..but her first comment was, "I want a PINK one!"...such a girl!

Brae's Friend Party

Looking at our calendar, we didn't have a free friday all January....so we decided to have Brae's party start a little late on this day.....since both he & Zach had practice that night.  He wanted to have a Wii Tournament & Sleepover party, so that's what he got! :)
It was a long week, a good friend of our family passed away the Friday before, and his funeral was also this day. (We'll miss you Bro.May & love you May family!!!) Since we had so much going on, Brae being the awesome kids he was, he offered to have a sundae bar, instead of me having to make two cakes (one for the friend party, one for the family party).

So to keep it with his theme, I dipped oreo's in white chocolate & used fondant to make the Wii letters.  It was pretty easy - I dyed the fondant the appropriate Wii color, then used a set of fondant cutters to cut out the letters, then trimmed each letter to look more like the Wii logo.  It was really fun & I think they turned out really cute. They were a total hit with the boys too!
A Wii tournament isn't complete w/out winners & trophies, right? I found these super cute little ones, added the labels w/categories, then filled them with gummy worms....
Since the party didn't start until 730pm, we didn't do dinner...just an assortment of some of Brae's favorite snacks :)
The brood of boys...yes it was loud, but fun too! They were cute, competitive, and it went really well. Brae was SO happy to see his cousins Jared & Cannon come too - it wouldn't have been complete w/out them!
I LOVE Jared's toothless grin!
Opening presents!
The sundae's........
Make a wish!
Movie time! Showing? Cloudy w/a Chance of Meatballs
The crew....quiet for just a few minutes :)
Guitar Hero anyone?
Time for bed....Ella thought she was going to sleep downstairs with all the boys...and that if she covered her eyes, we wouldn't see her hiding in Brae's sleeping bag!
Breakfast requested - Pancakes and sausage!
I think he had a great time! He was thoroughly spoiled by his friends - they were very generous! Now, for the family party on Sunday!
