It's Fair Time!!!

Today was the first day of the Eastern Idaho State Fair. It started off with the annual parade down Shilling Street. We met up with the Webbs and watched the parade from the same spot we watched it from last year. The kids got a lot of candy and the floats were very fun. From left to right: Whittney Webb, Sarah, Cameryn Webb and Jay. Kaitlyn is sneaking up in the background. This was before the parade started.
Kaitlyn waiting for the parade to start and exploring our spot.
Marcus and Kaitlyn before the parade.

This is the Idaho Falls Fire Department. They were wearing kilts and playing the bagpipes and were really good. It was one of our favorite parts of the parade.
During a break in the parade, Jay and Sarah saying "Hi".
After the parade, we went home and took afternoon naps. Everyone rested up for the long night to come at the fair. After naps we jumped in the van and headed out. The kids were so excited. We tried to see everything we could. We ate dinner, saw all the animals, went to the petting zoo, bought souveniers, ate scones, played in the kids play zone, visited with our friends, road the train and ate lots of treats.
Here is Jay and Sarah in the Petting Zoo train.

At one of the booths they let kids practice their lassoing for free. The young man in the background gave Jay free lessons. He was really good and Jay had a blast. He never roped the calf, but he had fun trying.

In the petting zoo Kaitlyn had a blast. She loved the animals and was very brave and tried to pet them all.

As a special treat, I let Sarah get her face painted. She has never done so before and her cousin London had her face painted in Disneyland before they visited us. Sarah saw the pictures and thought it was so neat. She asked for something pink that sparkled. We thought she was adorable. She sat so still the entire time and afterwards she wouldn't eat or drink anything for fear of messing it up.

Well that's our day at the fair for this year. We might go back one more day next week to ride some of the rides, but we haven't decided yet for sure. Enjoy the pics, we had fun taking them.

First Day of School Pictures

Jay and Sarah started school today. Jay is 6 now and in 1st Grade. He will be turning 7 in just a couple of weeks and is one of the oldest students in his class. He was very excited about being in 1st Grade and although I was sad to see him go, it was hard not be happy for his new adventure.

Sarah is four and a half going into her last year of preschool. She will be going four days a week and is on the same schedule as the afternoon kindergarten. She told everyone while we ran errands this morning about the toys at her school and her new Tinker Bell panties that she was wearing. I'm going to miss them both a lot this year, but watching them grow is so much fun.

Kaitlyn is Walking!!

Well she's actually been walking for about three weeks now, but I am just now getting around to posting it. She's doing so well and we are thrilled for her progress. After she took her first steps she was grinning for hours. She is a little daredevil and walks almost more then she crawls now. Enjoy!!

It's Fun to Be One!!!

Well my baby went and turned 1 today. She is such a big girl. Kaitlyn is walking everywhere and talking jibberish all the time. She is very spoiled by all of us. We all kiss her and hold her too much, but she's so irresistable there's not much we can do about it. I'm so glad she is part of our family and I'm sure she will be able to hold her own with her sassy older sister very soon.

For her birthday we had a family and a few friends over. We had hot dogs and hamburgers in the back yard. Here is Kaitlyn enjoying her birthday dinner. Kaitlyn and her Papa Jensen are very close. They were admiring our apricots during her party. (Our apricots didn't turn out this year. They were all really small and didn't taste good. Hopefully, by next year we'll be able to get the kinks out so that we can have apricot jam.)
Dad grilling dinner.
This was the scene of the party. Very simple, but festive.
Before the party, practicing her table dancing.
Opening presents.

Kaitlyn had her very own chocolate cake. She really enjoyed it. She knew exactly what to do and dove right in without any hesitation.

This was the larger cake that the rest of us enjoyed.

Blowing out her first birthday candle.

A little video for everyone who couldn't make it to the party. She's opening one present. She got clothes, a dress and a savings bond from Grandma Graham. A baby from her Aunt Lisa. A toy guitar from the Humpherys. New shirts from Mom and Dad. And books from her brother and sister. We love you Kaitlyn Anne. Happy First Birthday!!

Utah Mini-Vacation

Last weekend we decided to turn Sarah's annual Shriners doctor's appointment into a mini-vacation. Because I was in school until the middle of July this was really our only vacation for the summer. We left on Sunday morning and drove to Salt Lake. Here is Kaitlyn on our way out of town.

Once we got to Salt Lake, we took the kids to the Hogle Zoo. We use to go to the Denver Zoo a dozen times each year. The kids have really missed it. The Hogle Zoo was a lot of fun though and we're glad we went. Here is Marcus and the kids in front of a big African Elephant Statue. It made sounds periodically and scared the kids once.
Here is Jay and Sarah looking at the wild turkeys.
The zoo had a little place called Discovery Land. Marcus and Kaitlyn waited for us outside and I took Jay and Sarah in. We played on the toys. But the best part was the bats we found in a cave there.

On Monday we spent the day at Shriners. Sarah's appointments lasted from 930 a.m. to almost 300 pm. She had a Movement Analysis, X-Rays, and visited with the neurologist and the orthopedic surgeon. It was a long day, but well worth it. While we were at Shriners we had about a 30 minute break between appointments. Marcus found this park down the street and we played for a while. This is Kaitlyns first time swinging ever (that I could remember).

This is Sarah during her Movement Analysis at Shriners. Part of the Lab was that they took these reflective stickers and put them all over her body. Then they turned on the infrared cameras and video taped her walking. It was fascinating. They should be able to read all sorts of information from the study. It takes about two months to get the results back, but it will be wonderful to compare the information from year to year and see how she progresses or regresses.

More pics from the park.
This is Kaitlyn playing at Shriners. She was so good all day.

This is in the car on the way home from our mini-vacation on Tuesday. We stayed at LaQuinta in Midvale for two nights and fun was had by all. We swam, went to the zoo, ate, shopped, watched movies, got everyone's hair cut by Becca (thanks by the way, you did a great job), went to IKEA, and had a wonderful time. As you can see, we were all bushed and ready to sleep in our own beds by Tuesday night.

Not My Fault

I am having a hard time putting pics on my blog. If anyone else is struggling, please let me know. I will hopefully get a new post done by tomorrow, but I've been trying for over a week now and have been unsuccessful so far. =( Marcus is off of work tomorrow and maybe he will be able to figure out what I've been doing wrong. Sorry.

Exotic Southeast Idaho

This is a bird that decided to just take a few minutes and eat some cherries out of our pie cherry tree. If Marcus had known it was probably worth about $1500 to a bird person he might have taken the afternoon off from work and tried to catch it.
