Perry's Post
So, Val has not blogged in a while so I have taken it upon myself to update the family blog. We have had a pretty fun year so far. We have been to the cabin a couple times and we took an awesome vacation to Texas to visit Val's sister and her husband. We had so much fun. Here is a picture of me and the girls playing video games in Texas.

Summer Fun
Wednesday, July 21, 2010
Well, things have been pretty amazing around here lately. It's been awhile since our last post and this doesn't really scratch the surface of what we have been up to but here it is. Most of these pictures are pre-move.
Ruby is amazing and has accomplished some great things with her new leg braces. Here she is with her little dog Scout, standing on her own for the first time! It was only for a few seconds but I think I almost cried. It's amazing how much we can learn from children. I watch her, and everyday she brings herself up to a new level of determination to accomplish things that I know I've always taken for granted. I've been saying for a long time that Ruby is closer to heaven than I have or will ever be here on earth but I've begun to realize that I am that close to heaven because I have her.
And our little Claire bear. She is a little miracle. She is 8 months old and just over 11 pounds. Yet she pushes up in a bear crawl position and tries to go. If that doesn't get her where she wants to be then she just rolls around like it's no big deal. She makes movement seem so effortless.

My Favorite Color
So we bought this great side by side double jogger stroller off craigslist and I love it! Not that I jog or anything but I do like to walk for a little exercise. I can't seem to steer clear of the red patterns. I really like them a lot.
I love red. Ever since I can remember my signature color has been red. It really makes me happy. It makes me feel sassy and excited. It makes me feel adventurous like I can accomplish anything, overcome any obstacle, be anything I want to be.
When I was little, my mom had different color highlighters for our family calendar to differentiate each child's schedule. Mine was red. For a while I decided I didn't care for red but I couldn't change colors because there were 7 of us and only what, how many colors to choose from? All the other colors that they make into highlighters were taken by another sibling. It was against the rules to trade colors as well. That was too confusing.
My first and only car is red. I like to write with red pens. I used to wear this pair of red pants, corduroy. They were my favorite. I still have them. Perry really likes them too. My cell phone has been red when I can afford to make it that way (every other time when I have to get a new one). I painted our apartment wall red (without asking the landlord, oops)!
Monday night we were at our new house doing some yard work. We stopped at my brother in law's house and he asks Ruby what she planted in our garden. She says, "dirt." Which was exactly what we did. Then, we get in the car and she cries almost the entire way home (25min). She is so tired, and it's late. It had been a very long day and I'm just about to lose my cool when she and Perry start singing primary songs. If you ask her what song she wants to sing it's usually primary songs. They start singing. Perry starts singing a song that he doesn't really know the words to. I join in because I know the words. I feel the spirit. Peace begins to re-enter my soul. We get home, and I get Ruby out of her carseat. She snuggles up on my shoulder, pats me on the back a few times, and then gives me a little back rub.
My red with forever be Ruby.
