Game of Thrones

I have lately been listening to the very popular series A Song of Ice and Fire. I just started the last of them and have really enjoyed the adventure so far. The reason I am writing this is that I have recently been checking out the HBO series that is going to be based on this series. It looks awesome and I am excited to see what they do with it.

I'm Going to Med School!!

I got an offer to the Medical College of Wisconsin and have been guaranteed a position in the 2011 class. I have already saved my spot and am getting excited about attending. Yeah!! I don't have to fill out any more applications for a few years!! WHOOHOO!!
I'm off to live in Wisconsin for 4 years. My guess is that we'll stay in Albany until mid July and then head to Wisconsin to get settled.

In the mean time, Emily and I are still chilling in Albany with Jeff and Cindra. Jeff is really loving his new job and Cindra is always off seeing grandkids, so we never see her.

Interview

This is the follow up for the interview. I thought it went well but we'll know the result next week sometime.
I headed off for Milwaukee on Thursday at about 11am. I flew through Detroit and got into town about 4:30. That night I went to a social put on by the current med students. They had a q&a panel that was pretty great. I went home that night, swam in the pool and hit the sack. The next day I showed up at the school at about 11am. I sat through a presentation of their new curriculum and then had lunch. My interviews started at 1am. I had two half hour interviews. One of them was with a Doctor Del Toro. He told me he originally went to school to be a mechanical engineer. Now he specialized in skeletal muscular rehabilitation. He also has been doing some nerve impulse testing. It was surprising how much I thought about Dad during the interview. The other interview was with a Doctor Ziebert. He's a retired doctor that's still involved with the med school. He didn't tell me too much about himself but at the end of the interview he told me he was greatly impressed with my MCAT score. Actually both of them said this. I felt really great about the whole thing. After the interviews they gave me a tour of the school and had a presentation on how to fund med school. I went back to my hotel at about 4:30. I swam again and then went to bed early. By 9:00 I was asleep. Unfortunately I woke up again at 12:30 and couldn't get back to sleep. My plane took off at 7:00. Let's just say my flight home consisted of a lot of drifting in and out of consciousness. I made it back to Albany at about noon. My loving wife was there to pick me up. We went out to eat to celebrate.

Christmas

Here are some pictures from Christmas this year.

This is Emily and I in our matching pajamas. She thought we would look great in plaid and Star Wars and I agree. Even the socks match.

This is Cindra in her new Snuggie that makes her look like a nun. Haha!

This is me warming myself by our apartment fire. Some of us were convinced it was even giving off real heat.

Here's three of my gifts: A new electric razor, Harry Potter glasses, and a Mad Eye Moody magic eye.

Here is me with my favorite gift. Emily bought me a sweet new computer. It's the best computer I've ever seen. I'm really excited about having it. You also see me wearing a scarf Grandma Stringham sent me, as well as my Harry Potter glasses.

All in all, it was a pretty great hall this year. Apparently some of my gifts got lost in the mail or haven't arrived yet. I look forward to getting them soon.
I spent a great deal of time trying to pick out the perfect gift for Emily. I finally decided on a new purse. She seems to really like it and will surely post a picture of it on her blog. Go take a look.

Ginger Bread church

Emily and I made this ginger bread church at a party that we went to with some people in our ward. Emily did the awesome lightposts out front and I did the stained glass window in the back. We did the rest together.

There will be more Christmas pictures to come.

New Job

Today, I started my new job. I am working at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering at the University of Albany. I'm doing research on antibodies. I've only been one day but it seems like it's going to be great. I wish every body in the family luck on their job searches.
