Griffin's Great Aunt Ellen from Alaska made him this quilt. It is very nice and makes a perfect play area on the floor for him to roll around on (yes, he is finally putting together consecutive rolls to cover more ground!)

Memaw and Papaw are in town for New Year's and Griffin is certainly enjoying the visit. The only downside is that he gets so excited playing with them that he is having trouble sleeping at night.

Finally! After weeks of staring longingly at his feet, Griffin was able to jam one of them in his mouth. He tried to get the second one in also, but unfortunately the first one was still in the way!

Aunt Shari was great with Griffin (especially at calming him when he was grumpy) and Griffin and Sophia got a chance to play a little bit. Somehow we didn't get a picture of Griffin and Uncle Matt together, but I think that was because Uncle Matt was busy doing the dishes after all of the great meals :)

Uncle Bryan and Aunt Ginger also did their share of the Griffin-holding and he loved it. I think he may have also developed a little crush on Aunt Ginger :)

Griffin also got a chance to finally meet his great-grandma and great-grandpa R. They all had a good time and of course, Griffin liked to be held!

Griffin had a great time at Grandma and Grandpa Z's for Christmas. I think his favorite thing about the holiday is the large number of people excited to hold him!. I doubt that his daycare people are happy about the spoiled baby they get after the holiday though.

Griffin and Cousin Sophia also got to meet their Great-Grandpa and Great-Grandma R over Christmas. They loved being held by Great-Grandma and smiling at the funny faces that Great Grandpa made at them!
Griffin spent his first Christmas at Grandma and Grandpa Z's house in South Carolina. We had a wonderful time and can't believe that it went so fast!

Griffin is big enough to fit into his Brooklyn t-shirt from Donna & Jes. He likes it, but is a little too fond of pulling up the shirt and sticking it in his mouth (that is why onesies still work a little better for him). This may be our last post before we travel for Christmas, but we will start again after the holiday! Happy Holidays to all of you!

Griffin loves to play in his crib, either watching his mobile or jungle soother, kicking his piano, throwing his blocks around, or simply wrapping his legs around the crib slats. Here he couldn't decide whether to smile or jam as many fingers in his mouth as possible!

We had a great holiday brunch this past weekend with lots of good friends. Griffin had a good time, but clearly ran out of energy before it was over!

Basil gave feeding Griffin a try this weekend. However, Griffin was more interested in smiling at Basil than eating. That's OK, just more practice for the dad-to-be...

Griffin had his first Christmas party at day care Friday night. It was a bit chaotic with 9 day care kids, 2 day care alumni kids, all their parents and the day care staff there. Griffin had a great time watching all the kids run around, open presents and generally get rowdy.
Here is a photo of the day care owner and operator Miriam playing Santa; all the kids and the assistant Mirabel; and Griffin with his first Christmas present ever. (One of the older kids 'helped' him tear off the wrapping paper too quickly for Mommy to get a picture of it before being opened.) Jason was very disappointed that he had to miss the party because of work.

Griffin is lucky to have a Grandma and Great-Grandma who are very good at crocheting. They made him these two jackets (and the hat). He is looking forward to thanking them in person over Christmas!

Often Mommy will eat her cereal while feeding Griffin his cereal in the morning. He is very interested in watching us eat. He hasn't figured out that he can grab stuff off the high chair tray yet, so we can sit stuff on it (for now).
(Note equal time for the Duke bib.)

Griffin is definitely starting to enjoy eating his rice cereal a lot more. He gets very excited

now every time the spoon is coming his way!

As he has gotten stronger, Griffin has started to enjoy pretending to be a new superhero, "Up in the Air Baby". He can fly around the house and see what Mommy is up to. OK, at this point it is true that Mommy and Daddy are doing most of the pretending :)

Griffin looks like such a big boy sitting in the nursery chair! What happened to our little guy?!

Santa Griffin got a chance to meet his namesake at the mall this weekend. he seemed to think it was pretty fun!

Saturday, December 09, 2006

Our friends from Oakland, Nathan, Rebecca and little Toby were in town last weekend and they came by to meet Griffin. Griffin certainly enjoyed being held by Rebecca, eating Nathan's arm, and watching Toby run around.

Santa Griffin helped us pick out his first Christmas tree last weekend. It was a bit smaller than previous years' trees to accomodate all the baby gear in that room now.

Griffin had his first solid food this week -- that is, if you can call rice cereal solid or food. Despite his initial skepticism, he seems to like it. But he hasn't quite gotten the hang of swallowing it yet.

A baby can never have too many Santa outfits, right? This one is from Memaw & Papaw.

It's hard to tell if Griffin is enjoying his first Christmas, but it sure looks like he is!

What would the holiday season be without silly hats and funny clothes? I am afraid that at some point Griffin is going to resent us for using him as our little doll.
Anna and Soma came to visit Griffin just after Thanksgiving. We had a great time and Soma got to practice a little for her impending bundle of joy.

Griffin is doing new and exciting stuff every day, including holding his bottle himself for brief periods of time.

Griffin also enjoyed spending time with Aunt Steph and Uncle Jad over Thaksgiving. He misses everone, and especially the airplane rides!

Griffin enjoyed seeing his cousins Paige & Drew again over Thanksgiving. He liked to watch them run around. Soon enough he'll be running around with them!

Friday, December 01, 2006

Griffin also enjoyed spending lots of time with Memaw over Thanksgiving. She helped give him his first sink bath and celebrated his 4 month birthday with him.

Griffin had a terrific time visiting with Papaw while in Illinois. We think he wondered why there was no one holding and playing with him 24/7 once he got home!
