I finally figured out that your Grandma D was feeling quite hesitant to go to a new place to get her hair cut - so - I finally told her I was calling to make the appointment. She was okay with it then.
Yesterday, the 25th of February was the big day. We were very impressed with the feeling that abides there. Debbie, our chosen person, was ready and waiting with a big smile and welcomed your Grandma with open arms. Debbie put her right at ease.
First we discussed the particulars of the cut and then she was treated to a hair wash. She loved that part, except that there wasn't a foot rest so her hip area was hurting pretty bad while having it washed.
I felt bad about that because the wash job can be very relaxing.
Debbie showed me how to style her hair. I had been working against the way her hair wants to go. She told me to work with it, to use a brush and a brush instead of the comb I was using. It is really simple to style with this cut and easy to do a quick fix-up in the morning. I love it.
She is so grateful for this gift. What a great idea this was. I was a bit worried that they would try to style it in a way that Grandma wouldn't like, but Debbie is totally down to earth and your grandma loves her. (Me, too.)
Here are some befores and afters.

A Day in Grandma D's Life
A lot has happened with the blog site since the end of 2011. I'm having a bit of a time. My desire is to have the posts go to your email like Jen's does. I think I set it up so that it will - but we'll see.
Jen also suggested that it might be a good idea to at least blog about your grandma. That's a good plan, I must agree. This way you can be in touch with her. Mind you, there isn't often much to say, but we'll try to maybe even make up some things.
She had a follow-up doctor's appointment on the 17th. She's been in quite a bit of pain (which is unusual for her or at least unusual for her to mention it.) She is also taking Tylenol 3 times a day which is unusual. The doctor believes it is arthritis. We knew the hip pain was from arthritis but didn't thing the groin pain was. Even if it wasn't, without surgery there's nothing they can do and she's not a candidate for surgery. Next Tuesday she will be receiving a cortisone shot. They will be using "fluoroscopic guidance for needle placement, imaging supervision and interpretation" which means that only Lisa will know exactly what that is. After Tuesday, I might, too.
Following are some pictures. Snow - which the two of us loved. I think I loved it more than your grandma. Pictures of your grandma with her walker. She was feeling a little freer from pain so was doing a little jogging. Since I forgot to turn ON the video while I was supposedly videoing her, there are only pictures. Notice the fuzziness of the feet. That equals movement.
The amaryllis is a Christmas present from the Fromherz family. It had just reached full bloom.

Thanksgiving
We had a wonderful day at Guy's home. Lots of delicious food. Great conversation. Slide show of the Kyle Delamarter family. Would you believe that no one fell asleep during the slide show. Could be a first time.

Just Walkin' in the Rain.... Gettin' Soakin' Wet....
The rain and cooler weather has returned to our area of the world. (Not that it was gone for very long. My little bit of sarcasm.)Despite that fact, we have seen some beautiful sights as we walk - especially in the forest.
One day we saw three deer walking down the path a little way in front of us. We were on a path and they were on the path that makes a "T" to our path - if that makes sense. We were only about 20 feet from them. Talk about exciting. Wished I had on camera on my phone.
This past week it was foggy, but while we were in the woods the sun shown through the trees. It looked like a fairyland to us. Too beautiful for words. You could see the rays of the sun going in a full 360 degrees - almost like when we draw a circle and have the rays coming out of it. A picture wouldn't do it justice. You could see the little droplets of moisture in the air when you walked where the sun was shining. And then - the spider webs were spectacular with the dew on them. Yes, spider webs can be beautiful.
The Stake RS Presidency served lunch for what I assume was a Zone Conference. There were 115 people. C. Scott Grow was their visiting authority. It was also he and his wife's anniversary so we gave them a pretty little cake and we all sang "Families Can Be Together Forever". I cannot tell you how it feels to be there with all of those missionaries. The Elders and Sisters came in, got down to business and were totally in charge of themselves. It was a marvel to see. When the Elders came in to set up the tables, they had them set up in less than 10 minutes. We headed in to put the tablecloths on and they took them from us and had them on in less than 5 minutes. They made what was time consuming for us and made it look like it was nothing. All that priesthood in one room was amazing to see and feel.
By not being employed out of the home, I have so many opportunities like unto this one. I often am able to go out with the Sisters when they need someone. It's a great work and I love it.

Just to Say Hi
Both Grandma and I have lots to tell about our vacations, but haven't had the self-discipline to actually sit down and do it. We both had a wonderful time at our different vacation spots. Grandma's got kind of exciting the last couple of days and mine was just plain exciting to whole time. Will have to write later(?).
Waiting for the Bird Show at Hogle Zoo
George, Andrew, Grace, Stew, Lucy, Nicki
At Cascade Springs
Russ, Savannah, Abbie, Emily, ?
Lisa's Soccer Team. Go Team, Go!!!!!!!!
The last picture is a self-portrait.
As you can see, my picture taking didn't happen as much as I would have liked. I got more than these, but a lot of them were taken by photographers 5 and under. :o)

"No Matter the Weather...."

It seems like that when a conversation turns to weather, it is on the verge of 'nothing more to talk about'. This has been a year of talking about the weather - everywhere. Such a different year. I have yet to go without a sweater / sweatshirt during part of the day. Our high was 82 for a couple of days and even with that the morning temperature is 54-57 depending on the day. Usually the highs are anywhere from 69 - 75. Haven't even been able to wear short pants except once. Mom/Grandma said she's only worn her sandals once or twice.
I know that those in the hot weather wish you were having this type of weather. This year I've decided to be content (probably doesn't sound like it after reading the paragraph above) with whatever we have, unlike last year when it was pretty much anger that I felt. I especially am content because others have had so much terribly adverse weather. (However - I still want some hot stuff before fall sets in! Makes winter more livable if there's a change from hot to cold.)
Enough about weather. Mom/Grandma's face has healed from the surgery. The scar looks really good - for a scar and for what they expected. They thought that she would need to keep bandages on it after the stitches were removed. Didn't need to. We had to buy a hat with a brim since she's not supposed to expose the scar to the sun.

A Wonderment
The birth of a baby is a miracle. To be the mother of the mother is another miracle. I feel so honored and grateful to be able to hold this new little one.
Along with birth on this side comes birth on the other side. My dear friend that I have come to know, to visit and be there when she received her endowment and be sealed to her deceased husband and son, has been granted the privilege of being with them again.
I had a super Mother's Day and birthday. I am a mother who has been so blessed. What can I say more?
I had a really good video of mom and daughter, but it was way to big to download. She didn't have her blanket on so she wiggled around. Anyway - trust me - it was cute.
