I've had a few lately that I've been meaning to share but have since forgotten. Today, though, I got a real gem. :)
On our way home from grocery shopping today we turned down the street that goes by the park. They are currently doing some work (looks like pipe stuff) near the corner of the park. The speed limit on that street is 25mph. I had slowed down to below that since Little League is currently going and I had lots of littel kids darting back and forth across the street. Apparently, though, it wasn't slow enough. What I thought would be a slight bump was more like ricocheting off a ramp! I barreled over this small bump like a bat out of hell. I looked behind me once over due to the shock of it all to see dust had FLOWN up and around the car. It was a bit much and I was definitely embarassed. :) I look in the rear view mirror to see Scarlet clutching (yes CLUTCHING) her chest and head mumbling to herself. I chuckle and said, "That was a big bump huh?" to which she replies with.....
"Oh my Jesus gracious!!! That was HUGE."
I was dying of laughter and she was demanding to know what was so funny. I have no idea where she got the Jesus part but I'm guessing I say goodness gracious way more than I thought. :)
Oh I just remembered one more (having to do with the above picture). Back when we were staying at the Brown House with Tito and Sundi I had bought a pair of swim goggles in an attempt to get Scarlet more ok with washing her hair. It was a difficult time to say the least. She loved them (though not for the intended purpose) and when they broke was upset. I have a picture of her on our mantle with her in them and every few days she asks when we can get more. This last winter Beto and Tito had gotten their hands on some nice snowboarding goggles (pictured above) and she instantly picked out the PINK! pair. She recently refound them and has been wearing them non-stop. We had to run to the store the other day and she was wearing them pushed up on her head like you would with sunglasses. I walk around the side of the car to get her out and she has them down over her eyes. I mention that it'll be a bit tough to walk/see with them down and maybe she should push them back up. She looked at me like I was an idiot and says: "Mom, Gabe said these keep the water out. It's raining. I don't want to get water in my eyes so I'm wearing them like this."
And wear them like that she did. Throughout the entire store and all the way home. :)
