Friday nonsense

3/5/10 This is the front entrance to New Seasons (like Whole Foods). The smell in this small chunk is so wonderful. I tend to slow down and take super deep breaths. This is only one side of the "room" and the picture does not do it justice. See that guy there in blue? I was making him nervous trying to get a good picture.

3/5/10 Now this picture of Amelia is nothing special (except OMG! would you look at her chin(s) and arm?!). However, I would like you to take note of her appearance. Not 5 minutes before taking this picture I got asked how many DAYS old was she. When I asked the person to repeat herself she said, "She must be a newborn. How many days old is she? Her head is so small!"

Ummm yeah. She so does not look like a newborn and her head is far from small. If she weren't so sincere I'd have thought she was being polite and trying to find something nice to say.

Oregon

We are in Oregon right now since I desperately needed to see the sun. A real, bonafide shot of it. Not the fake out's that Idaho (well St. Anthony) is prone to. Warmth is a good thing. Let the pictures commence!

I wish I could have gotten better pictures of these. I snapped these super fast while we were waiting for the light to turn green. The stain glass in this church is amazing...creamy swirls of solid colored panes that flank the clear detailed center pieces. Seriously gorgeous. This is just one of many churches. We passed one a couple days ago named (quite simply) The Church of 1886.
(Mt. Tabor Park- 3/4/10)

This park is seriouclsy cool. It's multiple levels (2 of which have playgrounds on them) perfect for lounging or exercising (tons of bicyclists there today). The second pic is the view of Portland from the top. You can walk up a couple flights of steps or a path (steep incline most of the way). Once there you have a huge circle (with multiples exits/entrances) that overlooks the city. It's insanely gorgeous.

(Portland- 3/4/10)
These trees are everywhere. Mostly the pink variation but occassionally you'll get a white one.

(Mt. Tabor Park- 3/4/10)

Look closely and you can see a bat in that hole. On our way down from the top at the park Sol decided she needed to go potty. Luckily we were near a bathroom. Or so I thought. The building was locked. Lame but as I was walking around the corner (before I saw it was locked) I noticed a hole in the brick. It didn't go all the way through the wall but was just big enough for that little guy. I almost missed it. I did a double take and sure enough! I'm surprised I got a good picture. On my phone you can't really see him and I wasn't about to turn the flash on (not even going to risk startling it!). The girls wanted to poke it. Good thing he was too high for them! The fur looked like velvet...I can see why they wanted to.

(3/4/10)

This is what I get when I ask for a good picture. Hard to see here but Sol's bottom lip is nice and busted open. We were on our to the park the other day and she fell. Put her tooth straight through it. It's been about 3 days now and the swelling is totally gone (finally!) but she does look like she was in a bar fight. As fate would have it, it has not slowed her down or made her more cautious.
