Random!
1. I overheard Merrilee tell Ellery once that what she was eating was healthy for her body. I adopted that phrase and tell Hagen that certain things are healthy for his body to make him strong and grow. Well, the other day he was eating an apple and he proudly proclaimed, “This is healthy for my bottom Mama!” Yes, yes it is son…and your body…
2. Hagen has been very curious about babies in bellies naturally. Before bed we usually tell him a story but lately he has wanted to tell us a story. The other night he was telling Ryan a story and it went like this, “Mama came from Pia’s belly, Daddy came from Nana’s belly, I came from Mama’s belly, and Dapper came from Daddy’s belly”…well they both do have black hair so I can see why he thought that.
3. On those lines, Hagen was looking at Ryan the other day and seriously said, “Daddy, is there a baby in your belly?” Ryan was a bit pissed…I would understand.
4. Not sure why but Ryan had his hand in his pants the other day (I’m sure to resituate stuff…why do guys do that?) and Hagen saw him. He promptly said, “Daddy that’s “a-skustin” (disgusting) putting your hands in your pants!” Hmmm…I wonder if someone does any fiddling at school?!?
5. My friend that is pregnant after IVF comes over nightly for me to administer her progesterone shots. Last night she brought Hagen some Halloween bracelets…those ones that are all the craze with kids. Hagen has never had any! He loves her…he put on a bat one and asked her, “Did you get me bracelets because you like me?” She of course said yes..
6. I’m back at the stage of getting up throughout the night to go potty…last night it was 3…the night before was 6! Almost done….
7. I was starting to think that maybe I’m not diabetic (Dr. Darney). I was following the diet but my sugar was always way lower than it needed to be…not bad low, but more like I could have had something else to eat or a glass of milk…OR…candy corn. SO I’ve been on a candy corn kick and it wasn’t hurting my sugar! Until yesterday…it was high last night and it was still high this morning. It was fun while it lasted but back to staying on track.
8. I was dead asleep the other night and woke up to what I thought was something getting between my belly and the mattress…like a mouse or something! Come to find out, it was Hazel’s foot/elbow/whatever poking out…like a kickstand.
9. Ryan has been taking on more duties at home. I was getting irritated about him not helping more since I am just plain worn out and someone asked me if I had asked him to help with certain things? No…I didn’t. So I told Ryan I need some help and he said, “Sure…what can I help with” like no biggie. It’s amazing what communication does. Sounds stupid, but it’s true. Sometimes I just EXPECT him to read my mind! So now Ryan has taken over nite nite ritual and I cook dinner, clean up, and pack lunches. He said if I want to switch or need help cleaning up he can help there too. Good man I got…
10. Hazel’s room is ALMOST ready for a blog preview, but I have a few things I need to finish before. The lovely Allison is going to be covering some lamp shades for me and I need to hang some stuff above her crib, but other than that it is done…and so light and airy…and I love it!! Stay tuned.
11. I have a sonogram on Friday to see how big she is getting and see if she is head down. I will also get an induction date! Woo Hoo!
12. I admire my SAHM friends, but if ONE.MORE tells me I need to BF for as long as I can I’m going to go ballistic! I am an advocate for BF’ing, but you have to prepare and plan if you are going to continue once you go back to work. It was difficult for me. I often times parked in a church parking lot and pumped in my car because there was no place to do so in the office! Yep, it was empty and quiet and secluded…I had working Mom guilt so I pumped for 6 months…I was a low producer but stuck it out. BACK.OFF.
13. For Mom’s with winter babies…did they stay in cute little PJ’s for the first few months? I think newborns often look SO uncomfortable in real clothes. With her being a winter baby I am getting a lot of adorable PJ type outfits to keep her warm. I’m not talking about Carter’s PJ’s (which I have those too) I’m talking about the go out in public ones…Kissy Kissy being my favorite. Am I weird? I just can’t see why putting her in a dress and tights would be comfortable or easy. Ideas? Thoughts?
14. Darney Halloween decorations = bowl with 5 mini pumpkins...I suck
15. I hope Hagen is just as excited about Hazel when she is ACTUALLY here. They are learning the months of the year and he knows that Halloween is in October...and that Hazel will be here after Halloween. He keeps saying, "It's almost October and then Halloween will be here and then Hazel Grace!" Not sure if he is aware that his world is about to flip upside down...

What a fabulous weekend!!
I didn’t realize how much I needed some time to myself until I got it.
This weekend was wonderful! Ryan was hunting and left on Friday morning at 9:00 and was going to be gone until Sunday night so it was just going to be me and Hagen. I was planning on getting things done around the house and doing laundry which I hadn’t done in 2 weeks! Don’t gag…we have enough underwear in this house to clothe a small village so no one wore dirties…
On Saturday my parents wanted to take Hagen and I and Adam and his crew to shop for fall clothes for the kids! We met at Cantina Laredo to eat and then hit the mall. Hagen is going to be styling once again this fall…Papa and Pia have fabulous taste and don’t spare any expense…whatever their grandbabies want they get. I’m so excited it was chilly this morning so he could sport some new jeans..he looks adorable.
We wrapped up shopping around 3:00 and Mom and Dad took Hagen for a sleep over! My friend that has been having a difficult time conceiving (6 miscarriages) went through IVF and her hubby is out of town. She has been coming over nightly for me to help her with her shots and I thought it would be great for the both of us to get out of the house! SO we went to dinner at Patrizio’s and then to a new theatre in Allen called Gold Class Cinemas…it was unbelievable! 40 seats in the theatre, recliner chairs, waiter, and they even brought us a blanket. It was heaven. PLUS it was Saturday night and the next morning my sweet friend was finding out if the IVF worked…IT DID! Her number had to be over 50 and it was 182! So happy for her…there were 3 eggs put in...we'll see!!
I got to sleep in and then went to my parents house to get Hagen a change of clothes because…my brother Adam and his wife were taking the boys to 6 flags! It is more fun to take both of them because then they each had a kiddo to ride a ride with. So I had the whole day to myself on Sunday! I felt weird because he is usually always with me…I felt like I was pawning him off on people…made me feel bad, but I also really needed some time.
Hagen had a BLAST, Ryan came home early and was able to put Winter Rye in our yard and watch football, I organized Hazel’s room and drawers, and did a crapload of laundry. It was fabulous! It is so nice they live about 2 miles from us, the boys are about 11 months apart and the girls will be about 6 months apart…can you picture how easy it is going to be for babysitting when they grow up?! Switch off weekends…we keep their kids and then they keep ours so we can go out?! It’s perfect…plus we absolutely adore each other’s babies like they are our own…perfect.
Plus, it is chilly outside! I’m SO ready for fall…and this baby will be here in about 6 weeks?! I can’t believe it!!

32 weeks!
Feeling great...she rolls all day long...just rolls and rolls like a crocodile! She also has the hiccups alot which they say means she will have hair! Yeah for bows in her hair!
UPDATE: Casey, you are so right...it WAS heartburn! I had it terrible with Hagen and he came out with a cute little mullet. Damn...haven't had as much this time. I just want some hair on top to put a small little bow in...that's all I need. BUT I can always use something to make a little bow just stick...I need to get those little bows that you put something on and it sticks to their head...any ideas ladies?!?

Hagen and his latest milestone
Last night Hagen went to bed like usual. I was sitting on the couch with Ryan and we were talking about how our lives are about to get pretty hectic…but excited about that! It was about 9:30 so Hagen had been down for an hour and a half already…
All of the sudden we hear what sounds like a toilet being flushed upstairs. Hagen has never gotten out of bed by himself…we don’t think he knows he can. GLAD that he thinks that and not sure how that happened.
I got up and went to our room to check the monitor and he was not in bed! I ran out to the living room…Ryan was already perched to run up the stairs and I said, “He’s not in bed Ryan!” We both ran up the stairs and went into his room.
There is our sweet baby boy standing there in the middle of the room with his PJ’s down at his ankles and his diaper undone on one side and down at his ankles also. We asked him if he was OK and he said, “I started going poo poo and so I got up and went poo poo in the potty…there is a little in my diaper so I didn’t know what to do.”
The thing is he has been scared lately of dark, going into rooms by himself, so not only did he go potty by himself he used the glow from bacon (you know, the glow in the dark piggy) and went to the restroom by himself, turned on the light, went, AND flushed!
We cleaned him up good (need to work on wiping) got him a new diaper on and tucked our big boy back in. We told him we were so proud of him and he said he was proud too. When we first went in he thought he would be in trouble for getting out of bed…but we told him that he can get out of bed to go potty if he needs too.
Sweet boy…
Ryan and I sat on the couch downstairs and just smiled…he’s growing up…weird we were just talking about changes and good changes and then Hagen goes and does that. It’s one of those milestones you don’t think about but is such a good one!

Lake of the Ozarks trip and random stuff
The Guilt…the GUILT I feel for not updating my blog in a long time is eating me up! I am putting everything off…the family photo website, my blog, decorating the nursery, etc. I’m just being so lazy! But, happy lazy! I’m going to be 32 weeks on Sunday and she is one active little roly poly…she rolls around all day long and I love it. Knowing it will more than likely be our last baby I am soaking it all up and enjoying it!
We went to the Lake of the Ozarks last week and had a great time! The boys fished in the new fishing boat and Mom and I cleaned out the lake house. I was in total nesting mode and so I told Mom to take advantage of me! I took everything out of the kitchen cabinets, the laundry room cabinets and the bathrooms and reorganized/trashed/moved things around to be able to find things. The kitchen cabinets were a wreck. Great stuff, but nothing in a place and just shoved into whatever cabinet had room. So it wasn’t throwing a lot of it away but more putting like things together, etc.
Hagen is starting soccer at school today. He said that some of his friends play soccer at school…someone comes to get them and take them to have fun and he doesn’t get to go. I felt bad…BUT luckily they were starting up the fall season so he started today! I can’t wait to hear how it goes. With the fast shoes he picked out it should be good!
This may sound like I’m complaining…I don’t mean for it to be. With this being the second pregnancy I feel like I’m not as “doted” on as I was with Hagen’s. Ryan would talk to my belly, put lotion on it, we were just so excited. He got me a heart monitor for Valentine’s day when I was pregnant with him so whenever I wanted to hear his little heart I could. This time? Not so much. Now, life is busier than it was with the first pregnancy so that has a lot to do with it.
I’m ready for her to be here so Ryan and I can spend more quality time together. I feel like I wake up, get Hagen and I ready for the day and off to school/work, go get him, cook dinner, clean up after dinner, pack lunches, do nite nite ritual and then take my nightly snack and blood sugar machine to bed to watch TV until I can test and eat my snack and then go to sleep. I’m just exhausted. Good thing is I know this is not forever or the “norm”…It’s just the norm right now…
I will say that Ryan totally lost his man card the other night. He was upset because Little People Big World didn’t tape, then was upset that I watched and deleted Jersey Shore, and then came in to say I was lucky because Swamp People was on. After he said that he realized how ridiculous his statement was and left the room…I on the other hand got my very round body out of bed to taunt him more and laugh at what a weenie he is! Thank you Swamp People from the bottom of my cold heart for making my Ryan’s night more bearable…
I do have 2 little Hagen stories to share:
1. Hagen wants to have a baby in his belly really bad. The other night he wanted his stuffed penguin in his jammies like me. He is really into picking out his own PJ’s right now so often the tops and bottoms don’t match. Well the shirt was too short and wouldn’t hold the penguin so down his pants it went…lets just say his penguin was sitting low on his belly. AND he slept with his penguin in his “belly” almost all night.
2. Hagen’s usual time to go “big potty” is right after dinner. One night he ate a great dinner and then had to go! He did and then he asked Ryan for some candy. We are trying to wean him off of getting candy after every dump…he normally doesn’t ask for it all the time. Ryan said not tonight buddy and Hagen thanked him for not giving him any candy because he was really full.

Mojito Recipe
So good...keep losing the recipe...want it on the blog to remember it!!
Mojito Recipe
Make a simple syrup by putting 1 cup water and 1 cup of sugar in a pan over heat...stir until all sugar is dissolved. I didn't have to boil it and you don't WANT to boil it...just heat enough to dissolve sugar. I add it to a 2 cup measuring cup to pour easily.
To make the drink:
1. in a shaker juice 1/2 a lime
2. 1 shot glass of Simple Syrup
3. 1 shot glass of Rum
4. about 4 mint leaves torn up a couple of times to let the mint go
5. 2 ice cubes
Shake the shaker like your Mama taught you...shake it hard girl...make it so you feel places on your body shake that you never knew existed.
Pour into a cup, add a bit of club soda (probably about a 1/4 cup) and add some ice.
Your welcome,
Carrie

8 questions
So the lovely and wonderful Sass tagged me in “8 Questions”…Here you go!
1. What is your most recent pet peeves?
answer: Hi, have we met? Because EVERYTHING is my pet peeve right now. One off the top of my head is people driving around (mostly in Minivans) with little kids that I KNOW should be in car seats bouncing around! It KILLS me!
2. Favorite guilty pleasure?
answer: Reality TV, Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, going out to dinner, and shopping for cute clothes at little boutiques!
3. Have you ever faked an O?
answer: Oh please….hasn’t everyone?!
4. If you could be famous for something, what talent would you choose?
answer: I would love to have a special crafty talent! I am not crafty or creative and would love to! Decorating, making unique things, anything like that! OR maybe being able to find ugly pieces of furniture and slapping some paint on them and making them beautiful!
5. Would you rather be invisible or be able to fly?
answer: Fly…I would just fly home from work, Fly away to escape, Fly to the grocery store…how fun!
6. What are the top 3 things every relationship needs?
answer: Feeling of being secure and loved, Sense of humor, Teamwork mentality
7. Who do you think is the most annoying “Big” Blogger?
answer: I like all the ones I have come across!
8. Do you love me?
answer: With every being of my soul Sass…you are funny, beautiful, and fun to be around! Glad I “met” you!!!
Ummm...not sure if you noticed ladies but up at the top of this post...I hyperlinked to Sass's page. Yep...I finally figured it out! It was hard...I'm worn out...I need a beer...but will wait till November.
I feel so smart right now! (shut up Casey...it's baby steps...)
Tata,
Carrie
