American Idol...

We love American Idol! The girls and I watch it when we can... and it works out great because this is the time of year when Will has to work late so we are able to watch it in the living room and sing and dance until our heart's content. These are some pictures of the girl's watching American Idol last week. Lainey was all dressed up in her "sparkle" shirt, holey jeans, mod headband, and Mardi Gras beads (which came straight from Louisianna on a King Cake that was delivered to Will's office from a client in LA.) Anyway, they were dressed and ready to go last week. Emiley had on her "brawl" (bra in Emiley language) and her President Lincoln necklace from school. They are so fun to watch. Abbey was a spectator last week because she was down with the stomach bug. We are ready to watch again this week!!!

Happy Birthday, Waldo...

Happy Birthday Walt!!! Sorry we are a couple of days late with this post, but we have all been down with some sort of illness... Anyway, hope you had a great day. You are an amazing uncle to my girls, brother to Will, and brother-in-law to me. I think the first time I met you was on your birthday weekend in 1996... you were turning 16. Will and I went to VanHorn for a visit. We had a great, relaxing time and a wonderful birthday dinner. We miss you lots!!!

Happy Birthday Little Bro...

Well today is my little brother's birthday. He is 28 years old today. It does not seem possible. He is an awesome person with a wonderful wife and two beautiful children!! Chad has always been a great little brother. He always took up for me and supported me in everything. We had a wonderful time growing up together in Brady. I did pick on him a lot and tried to get him in trouble a lot, but hey... what are sisters for! He gave a bit back to me, too. He will never let me forget my little accident down in Wal-Mart, and I will never let him forget how his truck rolled backwards out of the driveway into the neighbors yard because he forgot to set his parking break. He was a great basketball player and very smart. He is NOW an awesome husband and insurance man. Love you little brother!!! Hope you had a great day......

3:42...

I am once again so very proud of my Hubby! We went to Austin Saturday night after Sing Song. We drove in to Hamilton from Abilene about 7 o'clock Sat night, dropped the girls off with Gina and Derek, and headed to Austin for the AT&T Marathon on Sunday. We stopped off in Lampasas and ate some carb loading pasta for the race day. We finally arrived in Austin about 9:30... headed over to the Hyatt to get Will's race packet from Randy and Lee Ann... then ventured through downtown and the Mardi Gras celebrations to Cousin Bill's townhome. We found it with no problem, got in, and headed to bed so we could get up at five. We got the race sight around six Sunday morning and met up with Randy, Lee Ann, and Becky.

They were all a bit nervous and anxious. Ready to get running!!! They packed up their goo, took their pain killers (Motrin), and ate some last minute chewies or Pop Tarts in Lee Ann's case...Randy and I saw the runners off at 7 in downtown Austin. It was an awesome sight seeing 12,000 people running up Congress Ave. all with the same goal... to run 26.2 miles! WOW.... Will was hoping to come in under four hours. He did it by almost 20 minutes. Once again tears filled my eyes. He did a great job, and his training had truly paid off. Lee Ann ran it in under 4 1/2 hours! Randy and I were anxiously awaiting our loved ones. We were so proud of them!!!! There were thousands of spectators watching the runners come in. Yelling their hearts out for their loved ones. What an accomplishment.

Will before race...

Will after race...

Lee Ann and Will are now encouraging me to get out there and try to train for a half marathon. Will even printed me out a running schedule. I have worked out for two days now. Two miles each day!! I cannot even run two miles right now, but I am working my way there... hopefully... and hopefully I will lose a few 20 pounds in the process. Back to the marathon... Will and Lee Ann acted like they had never run 26 miles. We then headed for lunch at Guero's in downtown Austin. We enjoyed great fellowship and a great meal. Will slept most of the way home... I think he deserved it!!

Sing Song Snapshots...

The girls LOVED Sing Song! We made a flying trip to Abilene Saturday after Abbey's basketball game. (They won 7-5. Way to go Purple Pandas!) We arrived in Abilene in just enough time to grab a bite to eat at Rosa's and then head to ACU. The theme for Sing Song this year was "Shift into High Gear." One of the songs the host and hostesses sand was "Life is a Highway" from the movie Cars. The girls loved it. They all said they cannot wait to got ACU and be in Sing Song. Abbey of course want to direct the whole thing. Lainey wants to be one of the dancers that accompanies the hosts and hostesses and Ms. Em just wants to do it all! The girls got little pen lights that they were selling and anxiously awaited all the acts! When Sing Song was over they could not pick just one act that was their favorite. They loved them all and cannot wait to go back!!
Another thing the girls wanted to do at ACU was to go see the new statue of Jacob's Dream. On Friday night before heading to Abilene, we read the story from Genesis 28 about Jacob's Dream. We talked about what it meant that the angels were ascending and descending from heaven. The girls have also been looking at the ACU today that had the story of the making of the statue. They were so excited to see it in person.

The girls in from of Jacob's Dream.

Emiley by the water fall and pond and Abbey in front of the huge engraved rocks.

I hated that we had to head on home so quickly. The girls could have walked around this AWESOME piece of art all day. We had to get them back to Hamilton so that Will and I could head to Austin for his marathon. (I will have a post on this soon!)

What a SURPRISE!...

(Lainey, 5; Cason, 2; Abbey, 7; Emiley, 4; Landon, 4; and McKenna, 10 months)
Last night about 8:15 I got the best surprise I have had in a long time. My old ACU roomie called and said she was about 30 miles from Hamilton... on her way home to Midland from Houston. I had not seen Kara since Emiley was one. I had only seen her oldest child, Landon. I was so excited!! They pulled in about 8:45. They were of course greeted by our horse Jasper and dog Jack. Landon loved the horse and even sat on him for a minute, but Cason was a bit scared. We enjoyed visiting for over and hour and then they had to get back on the road. I am sure they didnt get into Midland until about three or so this morning. What a blessing to have such good friends. It did not seem as though we had not see each other in over three years. We talk on the phone occasionally and love emailing each other, but it is just not the same as seeing them in person. As she was leaving, we said we HAVE to get together again soon and for longer next time. Thanks Todd and Kara for stopping by... it made my day, week, YEAR! Hope to see you again soon......

Happy Valentine's Day...

I hope that you have all had a great day celebrating LOVE! The girls have had a great day... They all three came home from school with lots of candy and Valentine cards. Will and I got to go to lunch today with no children and then he gave me my favorite... a long stem red rose just simply wrapped with a beautiful bow. (Will has given me a wrapped long stem red rose every year for 11 years now. The first one I got had a George Strait Concert ticket inside, too.) We surprised the girls this morning with stuffed bears that were holding I Love You hearts. We placed them at their breakfast spots. They were shocked when they came in for breakfast with a little surprise.

The girls also got some great chocolates and hair bows from Ramon and Debbi and many, many cards in the mail today. Thanks so much to everyone who thought of us on this wonderful day!

We spent most of yesterday making heart cookies with sprinkles for the girls to take to school. Abbey chose to take popcorn balls to school so we also made those. Of course I was out of red food coloring so we had to make them yellow!

Happy Valentine's Day! I need to get to baking! I am making Will his favorite pie for dessert tonight. (Jeff Davis Pie) I am making the girls favorite dinner... chicken and rice! I love you all! Cannot wait to hear about your day of love.........

Thanks...

Thanks for all the prayers, thoughts, phone calls, and cards on behalf of Will's mother. She is recovering great after her surgery. Continue to keep them all in your prayers. She will undergo another surgery on Monday and then prepare for Chemo next month. We had a good time with Will's parents, his brother Walt, and his sisters Molly and Amy the evening before Marilyn's surgery.

This is for you... CASE!

Ok Caser, Here is your "pokey" hair post from Will. We should have done this last week before he got a haircut! Enjoy, COWBOY!!!
The girls loved seeing him do this... Maybe we should have tried to make his chest hairs "pokey." Now that would have been a picture!!!

Where have I been?

I know... this is probably the longest time I have gone without a post. I have been really busy! On Thursday of last week, I headed to Dallas with three other ladies for the Early Childhood Conference. For those of you who dont know, I am still technically the director of St. John Lutheran Preschool. I make sure that the legal things stay up to date and my name stays on things since I am a certified teacher and I have my master's in education while the now "teacher" is training to become the director. I still have to keep up my hours of continuing education, so I had to go to the training. It was a really great conference this year. I was able to attend a class on licensing, early childcare intervention, and my passion at the time sensory integration. They were all wonderful classes! I also went to a class called, "He Knows me by Name." It was about the importance of our name and how our name is special to us and how God even knows our name and knows us individually! It was a powerful lesson set up for preschoolers. I hope to share it with the kids at the school or at our church in maybe a VBS setting. We had a great key note speaker named Steve Spangler who incorporates science into learning in some facinating ways. This is one of the interactive things we did with plastic bags. We were all giggling and having a great time. I tried this trick on my kids and Will when I got home. The banner theme for the conference was "Growing Kids through Prayer." I loved our theme song... Here is an excert....

Lord, shine Your light on me. Lord, grow Your grace in me. Lord, fill me with Your power. Lord, root me in Your Word.

Thanks to my mom for coming and watching the girls so that I could go to the conference and Will could keep trucking on the taxes. Of course, four country girls in the city had to do some shopping... We made stops at Sam Moon, Sams, Garden Ridge, and Target! I was ready to get home, but had a great time reviving myself away from the house for a few days. On Sunday, we had a great time at the Poe's watching the Super Bowl and of course eating. Will and I made popcorn balls with the girls that were blue of course... to support Peyton Manning and the COLTS! I spent Monday unpacking and doing about eight loads of laundry. Tuesday was the book fair, basketball, house cleaning, and a great dinner with Will's parents and grandfather, Bill. He is here for his check-ups and Scott and White and for Marilyn's surgery on Friday.

Just a few pics of the girls from last night... Bill and Emiley playing checkers. Grammy and Abbey playing chess. Lainey coloring the Twelve Dancing Princesses.
Please keep our family in your daily prayers. Will's mom will undergo her surgery on Friday. She has been diagnosed with breast cancer and has also recently learned that it is her hormones causing the cancer to grow which means she must endure Chemo after the surgery. Marilyn is a very strong, spiritual woman. She is ready to face whatever God has instore for her life. She is a woman of prayer and dedication to our Lord and Savior. Please keep this awesome Child of God in your hearts and especially in your prayers over the next few months. Also, prayer for the safe travel of Will's brother Walt from California and his sisters Amy and Molly as they venture to Hamilton to gather around their mother at this time. I know that our God is GREAT and can do the amazing things in people's lives. Pray for God's power, peace, grace, and love to be on our family at this time.
