New York, New York...

I have been working on this post FOREVER!! It has been a crazy, busy Christmas holiday, but I wouldnt trade any of it for anything.

Here is the New York recap that I promised you. It is mainly in pictures, but hey, let's be honest... that is what you all prefer anyway! And pictures tell the best stories. So, let's begin!

Me eating my first New York hot dog. Yes, it was from a vendor and yes, it was so cheap. I was able to purchase this dog loaded with mustard and sauerkraut and coke for only $4. Such a bargain compared to other things purchased in NYC. We stopped by lots of places we wanted to see in person such as this famous late night stop! How fun to just see where it all takes place. We also took pictures of the Hello Deli. I was a bit disappointed that is was closed. I really wanted a picture of Ruppert, too.
These pictures are in no particular order :) We saw lots of wonderful decorations. These red Christmas balls located in Rockefeller Center were some of my favorite.
Here we are inside Grand Central Station. I was really in awe of how beautiful it was. I could have stayed there the majority of a day just looking around!
Just one of the billboards on Time Square. So pretty. It changed, too! Super Fancy, but hey it's NYC!
I was able to meet up with a good high school buddy who lives in NYC. It was so fun to see Shannon and catch up on life. I loved hearing about her busy city life and she loved hearing about my three kids and living on the funny farm!
Isnt this beautiful? Ice skating at Central Park. It was so crowded. We chose not to skate this day because we had skated the day before at Rockefeller Center. We hated to admit it, but we were a bit sore. I will BRAG that I never fell, but I rarely let go of the edge.
We were so excited that there was still snow and ice. Central Park was just breath taking. On the left of the road are lots of horse drawn carriages coming down the road.
Just more Christmas decorations on a beautiful bridge with an old building in the background.
The American Stock Exchange... just proof we toured every district in NYC!
And the Naked Cowboy, more proof we saw everything touristy :) Megan and Abby just had to have their picture taken with him. I must admit, I was a bit scared of him!
One of the main reasons I wanted to go to NYC during Christmas time was to see all the store windows. This is a beautiful window from Macy's (I think!). It changed every few seconds. I could have gazed at it forever.
Here is Rockefeller Center where we ice skated. I couldnt believe how small of a rink it was. It looks HUGE on TV.
Time Square was hopping and was shoulder to shoulder every time we visited it. The night before we left they were beginning to set up for the New Year's Eve festivities. The 2009 was already on top of the building and they were finalizing the ball the day we left. It was fun to see where it all takes place, but I was thankful we were not going to be there for the actual festivities.
I still have lots of pictures to share. Many of them need rotating and editing. You lucky readers may get NYC pictures way into the new year :)

A Touch of Stardom...

I am home same and sound from New York... It was an amazing trip and was everything I hoped New York City would be! I have lots and lots of stories to tell but first... Did you see me on the Today Show? Yes, we made an early trek to Rockefeller Center and got a few seconds of NBC airtime. Lester even talked to us. We MUST thank the little pregnant lady (also from Texas) who had a sign to tell her mother in Virginia that she was pregnant. My dad, who has never been shy or timid, yelled out for the TV crew to come talk to this lady beside us because she wanted to give a message to her mom on live TV. The camera man saw my dad and motioned to us that Lester would come over and do his intro right in front of us and talk to the pregnant lady. It was so exciting!! So I hope you saw me in my red coat waving the Bulldog flag :) After my few moments of stardom, we headed to the ice rink at Rockefeller Center. It was my first time to ice skate and I didnt do so bad. We saw the Christmas tree and these beautiful angels that lined the entrance into the skating area... and this was all before 8:30 a.m.

I have lots of stories to tell, lots of pictures to edit, lots of sleep to catch up on and lots of pounds to lose after eating all the New York pizza, hot dogs, and cheesecake.
So stay tuned! (This was us in Central Park. It was so beautiful and VERY cold. There was still ice and snow on the ground.)

Merry Christmas and Much, Much More...

Merry Christmas from our home to yours! In case you havent heard, this little man will be making his appearance tonight. I know my little girls are very excited. We have written our letters to Santa. We have hung our stockings on the TEXAS star hangers. (since there is no mantle) We have made the cookies and will pour the milk right before bed. All the gifts are wrapped and ready to be opened this evening after dinner. Dinner is cooking and smelling wonderful as we wait for Grammy and PaPa to arrive. The girls and I have also been preparing for my trip to NYC. We will be attempting to attend the "Today Show" on Friday... so set your TIVO for Today on Friday :)

The girls have worked hard at making me some signs to take with me. They are eager to watch and see if they can spot me Friday morning. I will be wearing the red coat, scarf, gloves and anything else I need to keep warm!

Along with these signs the girls made, I will be taking a Hamilton Bulldog flag. That was the GREAT idea of our school's librarian. So keep your eyes peeled for the Red Bandit (thats me!) and our school's flag.

I guess I am going to have to recruit some help to get all my signs held up. Maybe Matt and Meredith will notice :)
Until then... Merry Christmas. I hope you enjoy the Awesomeness of the season as we celebrate Christ's birth and His life that has saved us!

Can you BELIEVE...

Can you believe that it is almost Christmas. This year has flown by! A few weeks ago I had great intentions of participating in the "Christmas Tour of Homes"... blog style. Nope, never got it done. Then I ran into all the problems with my camera and computer. Thank goodness for my hubby who got my camera to work with my computer so hopefully I am back in blog order. I am only back into business after many tears and an emotional break-down, but 'tis the season. So all you get for my tour this year is a shot of a my tree... A picture of Emiley's Ariel ornament And Abbey's Tink ornament... I couldnt find Lainey's Sleeping Beauty ornament on the tree. It must be hiding from me :)
I Love their ornaments this year because they are a great memory of our Disney trip this summer.
Now, I am off to do some cleaning, make some cookies for Santa and maybe some reindeer food, get some rest, and start packing!

Lainey and Abby K. before their ballet recital.

Happy Christmas WEEK!...

We are GREAT!

Busy, but great! I am at my Brother's and have been here all weekend. I have walked around his house with the laptop searching for a signal so that I could let you all know we are GREAT! We have had three family Christmases in the last three days and are anxious to get home to enjoy our own family Christmas, just the five of us... then I am off to NYC. I am working on the picture situation... so stay tuned :)

Drowning...

Drowning...
Do you often feel like you are drowning?
Drowning in your to do list...
Drowning in the loaded calendar...
Drowning in the laundry and the housework...
Drowning and cant come up.

That is how I feel. I feel like I am drowning so bad that I cant even sleep because of the thoughts and the lists that swarm my mind.

So today I try to remember that GOD IS IN CONTROL... that this season is all about HIM. So I will reorganize my list, try to get that last minute shopping done so that I can let it go, try to catch up on all my housework, work hard at getting my real work done, and get out of this pool I am drowning in so that I can enjoy the season and time with family.

Oh yes, other things I am drowning in is the obsession with my trip to NYC. If you have suggestions of MUSTS, please leave them in my comments so that I cannot drown in that obsession as well! I have had NO time to plan and organize my thoughts about the trip so give me some tips and plan it for me!

Happy Sunday!

Baby, You Look Good...

Yes, we know we look good and are really proud of our new coveralls that were purchased at the local Wall's Outlet. We would have frozen the last few mornings if it werent for these gorgeous coveralls that really accentuate our great figures. Oh yes, and notice our wonderful scarves and gloves, too.
Recently, everyone has been asking me if I am going to wear my coveralls to NYC and make a fashion statement. I think I will leave them in TX and try not to stand out that much.
These women that I work the morning drop off lane with are amazing and make it a very painless duty... Yes, you can laugh at us. We know we are a sight to see!

Columbus...

This was Miss Em's question today on the way home from school...

"Is Columbus' first name Elvis?"

No sweetie it's not :)

Magnificent Monday...

Yes, it is a magnificent Monday because my sweet, wonderful, amazing friend Betsy sent me pictures of the girls in the Christmas parade (yes, this is the parade in which I forgot my camera).

Enjoy...
Today was a magnificent and crazy Monday, as all Mondays are. We headed to Emiley's gymnastics immediately after school and Abbey sat with Will at his office so that he could take her to basketball practice. Anyway, at gymnastics Emiley's teacher announced that this Friday there would be a make-up class since Christmas is fast approaching and there will be no classes the week of Christmas. Emiley was a bit disappointed when I told her that this make-up class had nothing to do with real make-up! Sorry to disappoint Miss Em... it is just a time to work more on your one-handed cartwheels and back handsprings :)

Happy Monday...

Ode to Lloyd Snapper...

No, I did not say Lord Snapper :)

I love when lurkers admit to reading my blog. This weekend I happen to have a new lurker come out of the closet. I told him I would give him a "shout-out!"

So this one is for you...

We have had a great but busy weekend. Lainey was in a lighted Christmas parade Saturday night with her ballet class. Mother of the year (ME) forgot her camera. I spent Saturday Christmas shopping for foster boys that our church supports. Will spent Saturday with the girls. Sunday was full of church, grocery shopping, and laundry. Not too exciting I know, but wanted you all to know we are alive and well and ready for a new week :)

Oh yes, and another one of my favorite Christmas songs for you to enjoy!

The Nutcracker...

Let me begin with a very random picture of Emiley and some of her K buddies that I never posted from her Thanksgiving play... She is so adorable!
Well, we have all remained well and successfully made it through the Nutcracker without anyone throwing up on stage :) (That was truly one of my fears earlier in the week!)
Third grade were women from India and did the Midnight dance. Yes, we "recycled" her costume from last years Multicultural Day. Abbey had a singing solo and sang the first verse all alone. She did great!!! (Yes, grandparents, we bought the DVD.)

The first graders did the Dance of the Candy Cane Flutes. Here is our very own Candy Cane Flute (and her best buddy of course) who took her part very seriously. She was front and center and completely convinced that everyone else needed her to be perfect because they were following her every move. She is so funny! Her ballet teacher sent her a rose for her first big performance. It meant the world to Lainey. She felt like a real star.

This week has been a long one. I am ready for some R and R this weekend and a normal week next week.

Happy Weekend...

IT Doesn't Care...

No, IT (aka the stomach virus) does not care that poor Abbey Grace had the stomach virus over Thanksgiving break. It is back and she is very sick.

IT doesnt care that it woke the whole house from a peaceful sleep last night at midnight and only allowed Abbey and I about four hours of sleep last night. Needless to say, we slept in this morning and Abbey is still asleep.

IT doesnt care that Abbey has a solo in the Nutcracker tomorrow night. Just pray that it stays away from Lainey who also is front and center as a candy cane princess in the Nutcracker tomorrow night.

IT doesnt care that I have done load after load after load of laundry since Thanksgiving day trying to get IT out of my house.

IT doesnt care that I was suppose to monitor benchmark testing at school today and help with the last rehearsal of the Nutcracker.

IT doesnt care we dont like him and he wasnt invited into our home.

IT is horrible... go away Mr. Stomach Virus.

And on a side note, I have added blog followers to my sidebar so sign up... you fellow bloggers!

Thoughtfulness...

I feel like I am a thoughtful person. I try really hard to remember people's birthdays, to make them feel special, to greet people using their first names and a pat on the shoulder, to bring cookies to school for my kids just because, to send Thank You cards... but lately I have realized I could really use some work in the thoughtfulness area. Some people in my life lately have taught me what it truly means to be thoughtful. Like my hubby who has been bringing me a hot cup of coffee every morning while I am in the tub or putting on my makeup. Or my kids who remember to kiss me good-bye every morning even if we are rushing. Or my dad and mom who call just to check on me. Or my Mi-ma who buys cinnamon rolls just because she knows I like them. Or my mother in law who reminds me every day that she misses talking to me now that I am working full time. Or my friends who constantly do crazy things like bring me Sonic drinks, coffee, Reese's, candles, just because they know I love those things.

Well, this morning I experienced another thoughtful act. Now that I am teaching full time part of my job is to do the car lane at 7:30 am even if it is 30 degrees outside. I dont mind the car lane at all because the ladies I have duty with are so fun. Well, this morning one of the mothers began handing out gloves and scarves to all of us teachers who were standing in the cold. AWESOME! They were beautiful... hot pink, red, purple, and lime green. WOW... that mom did not have to do that. She did not have to even notice that we were out there every morning smiling, greeting kids but she did. She is so very thoughtful. I want to be more thoughtful and do things for others that brighten their day just like she brightened mine today! Its the simple thing that scarves and mittens on a cold day that display thoughtfulness for a lifetime :)
