We've made it as far as Youngstown, Ohio. After spending the night near the Black Hills in South Dakota, we toured Deadwood, Mt. Rushmore and did a drive by of Crazy Horse. We didn't really want to spend the $18 to see what we could see from the road. Its all pretty spectacular and I'm glad We've got a sense of that part of the country now.
We drove through the Badlands after our Black Hills experience and saw our first prarie dogs of the trip. Dewey (our dog for those of you who haven't met him yet) was quite excited by the sight of all those little critters. The Badlands is spectacular. The formations are a stark contrast to the plains that surrounds them. Sadly, they were our last real exciting landmark until, well, we haven't seen a whole lot since then.
After Leaving the badlands, we got an itching to just drive, so we did. We drove through all of South Dakota and it was flat. We drove through Minnesota and Wisconsin and they were both flat too. Hamish drove through MN adn 3/4 of WI during the night, but we feel that it is a safe assumption to say that both southern parts of these states are both flat and packed with dairy farms - we could smell the cows all through the night. We hope we didn't miss much - except for the Spam museum. We'll have to make another trip for that.
More pics to the left!
We should make landfall in Killingworth, CT tomorrow sometime. . .
