KILLINGWORTH, CONNECTICUT

The hills were alive with music! How sweet twas it to finally arrive at the Greenaway homestead. Jane and Phoebe were pretty excited to see their uncle Hamish - poor Asa was sick on the couch. So we tried not to dance and sing too loudly with all the excitement of having made a journey from one coast to another. We had a relaxing evening with the fam - Michael, Heather, Sarah & kids, and to top things off , Tom drove down from Boston.

Dewey and Otter took a while to work out their differences - mostly an overzealous male (Dewey) badgering an uninterested female (Otter), but they sorted things out and have become good friends.

It was so nice sleeping in a comfortable bed that night. Good times!

NEW JERSEY & NEW YORK

The first sign to Albany! We went in and out of these two states a couple of times. Not much to report except that the driving noticeably changed from casual to frantic. CRAZY DRIVERS! Almost as bad as driving in Utah.

PENNSYLVANIA

This is the extent of what we were able to see
of Pennsylvania. Nothing but trees from the
toll road. However, it was a clear and sunny day.
Dewey was fixated. He insisted on being up in
the front of the car with us. Curses! That dog
has some stinky breath! (We do love him despite
his little imperfections. Speaking of which, he
is beginning to calm down with the obsessive
urinating. Oh, he still has the need to pee on
all things vertical, but he is beginning to show a bit
of self control. HOORAY!!)

INDIANA & OHIO!

The landscape between these states looks pretty much the same from HWY 90. Indiana was just a blur. Tons of corn and fields almost ready for harvest. We stayed the night in Youngstown, Ohio where we had the best BBQ wings and sweet potato fries of our lives!

CHICAGO!

This picture really doesn't do this city any good at all. We spent a few days here in July and it was AWESOME! Chicago is a great city and we wish we could have spent more time there - at least long enough to go to Giovani's for a super cheesy deep dish pizza. But alas! We only sped past the city in a rush to get to Ohio by 5:00...

WISCONSIN!

Lots of corn, lots of dairies, and Harley Davidson's. Can you believe we didn't stop for cheese??!?

MORE PICS

These pictures were also taken in South Dakota. Side note: we have no pictures of Minnesota. We drove through the night and woke up in Wisconsin...

Pics from the roadtrip

Here's a few more pictures from South Dakota.
