5 Years of Married Bliss

I can't believe that it has already been five years on Saturday. It feels like we are still newlyweds. (I guess by some people's standards we still are!) It has been an amazing experience to be married to Jon. He treats me like a princess. he still opens the car door for me and still wakes up early anytime it snows to scrape the ice off my windshield. He always tells me how beautiful I look, even when I am in my PJ's or deathly ill. He wakes up early in the morning on weekends to tend to the kids so I can sleep in. He is just about the best Daddy any kid could ask for. he loves playing wrestling with Mikayla and Andrew whenever he comes home from work. He is an excellent provider and always does his best to make sure we are taken care of. he loves to surprise me and is very thoughtful. I don't know what I did to deserve my own knight in shinning armour, but I am sure glad I found him and get to keep him forever. I can't wait to see what the next five, ten, and even fifty years will bring. If they are anything like the first five, then I can't wait!

Mikayla joins the family. (Ignore the date. If that were really the day I had her I would have been 9 months pregnant at my own wedding in the temple. Bad news! She was actually born in May 2005. )

Celebrating five years.
Jon has been surprising me all this week with something new everyday. He decided to surprise me with either a gift or a date five days this week. (Five days for five years) Isn't that so sweet. I got flowers on Monday, a shopping date Tuesday, an Ice skating date Wednesday, a dinner date Thursday, and we'll see what happens today. What a champ for going behind my back and finding babysitter(s) three nights in a row! (Thanks Jones'! You are amazing!) I love you honey!

California Holiday

This year for Thanksgiving we went to my parent's house in California. We were all way excited to go and grateful that my parents were nice enough to help with the trip. It was quite a long car ride, but it was actually quite pretty. I would have enjoyed the road trip more if Mikayla didn't get car sick and Andrew miraculously decided to love the car a little more, but alas, we dealt with both. We had such a great time. The weather was perfect. It was sunny and warm with a slight breeze almost every day we were there. It brought back so many memories of my childhood.

We tried to pack in as much fun as we could, so enjoy the photographic experience while I explain to you what the heck we did.

My parents took our family to Disneyland on one of the days. We had a blast. The kids loved it, and we all had a great time riding the rides and sampling the excellent cuisine. I would live at Disneyland if I could.

Mikayla with Minnie. Doesn't she look so big?! (Tear...)
My Tinkerbell Princess. She loves getting her face painted.

We also celebrated my Grandma's 86th Birthday while we were down there. Go Grandma!

I baked A LOT. I am a trouble-maker when it comes to sweets. I will ruin your diet.

Grandma with the kids

I gave my older brother a haircut. if you scroll down and look at his picture later in this blog entry, you will see he looked like Einstein before. I am quite proud that I taught myself how to cut hair.

Swinging kiddies

This is the park right by my parent's house. The one thing I really miss about California, besides my family, is the palm trees. If I could transplant palm trees here in Albuquerque, it would be the best place in the world to live.
Daddy and the kids getting ready to go play at the park.

Andrew in a girlie stroller. it was the only stroller my parent's had, so Andrew got to get in touch with his feminine side last week.

My parent's live really close to the mountains. Usually you can't see them this well because of the smog, but that week it was beautiful.

My other Home Sweet Home (besides Albuquerque!)

My autistic brother with his Einstein hair. I love my brother, and I love the fact that he will let me cut his hair even though he hates to be touched.
Obviously my other brother Eric dodged the camera. I don't have any pictures of just me and you, Eric! You can't hide from me forever!!!
We had a really good time with my Mom as well. Unfortunately, she has been pretty sick lately, so we didn't get any pictures of her, but we did manage to sneak away for a couple of hours and see the Twilight movie together. I had a great time with her. The movie was hilarious (not in a good way), so we had a good time laughing at how bad it was most of the time.
Thanks Mom and Dad for a great week. We miss you already!
