Prayer Request for Today

Please remember to pray for my Brother-in-law Kevin Kelley this morning. He is having knee surgery in Little Rock to repair some damage he received from a roadside bomb in Iraq.

See You at the Pole!

My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

John 17:20-23

We had a great turn out at "SEE YOU AT THE POLE" yesterday morning. Josh and I were afraid that we would have a low turn out. At 7:45am there were over 75 students, teachers and parents gathered around the Kirby School flagpole to unite in prayer for our school, friends and families. Josh did such a great job leading the prayer. Hopefully next year we will double the attendance.

Pike Country Fair Ribbons

Both girls did a great job with their fair entries this year. They both won second and third place ribbons.

Reagon is really good at sewing. She sure didn't get it from me! I can't even sew a button on! For the fair, Reagon made a pair of pillows for her bed, and made a kitchen towel for my stove. She also made a couple of "neck warmers" using some Riceland rice out of my office. The pillows look cute on her bed. I'm thinking about picking up some fall and Christmas material and have her make some more for me.

Kendall did a great job on her "no sew" baby blanket. She did all the measuring, cutting and tying with very little of my help. The blanket turned out really cute and as you can see, Jed has already used it. I don't think you can tell in the pictures, but he is playing "Pee-Pie" with Reagon. The blanket was simple to make but honestly, you can buy a baby blanket for less than you can buy the fleece to make it. Kendall also baked cookies and won the second place ribbon! I didn't notice until the pictures that I need new baking pans!

I am proud of both of my girls. They are so much fun and I enjoy every day with them! I say this all the time, but I would love to slow time down a bit. I am sure enjoying this age...minus a little bit of the smart-mouth from Reagon and the rowdyness from Kendall. I can see so much of myself in Reagon and I swear Kendall acts just like Josh!

Fall is finally here!

Now, bring on the cooler temperatures!!!

Like I said in a previous post, I love fall! I am currently working on dragging out all my fall decorations and getting them put up. I wanted to start on my porch this week but after watching Chris Olsen on Todays THV he suggested waiting until the second week of October before buying your mums and marigolds. I can't wait that long!!!!!!!!! Josh came into the office this morning and very politely asked me if he could "get rid of" my ferns on the front porch. Quite honestly, they have looked pitiful for a while now but I just hate to take them down. I don't care for the look of a bare porch and love to sit out on the swing with all the plants around...even if they were beginning to resemble dried up sticks. LOL My two largest potted ferns are still hanging in there so it's not too bare.

I stopped at Walmart this weekend to pick up some Halloween items. For the past several years the girls and I have made "Witch Hands" for their class halloween parties. They are so simple and easy to make and the girls can do them without my help. I picked up the gloves and spider rings at the Dollar Tree. The gloves come 100 to a box for $1....these are the same type of gloves you see the cafeteria workers wearing not the thick plastic kitchen gloves.

While in Wmart, Josh picked up Jed's halloween costume. Now, I have spent the last 3-4 weeks searching online for the perfect halloween costume for him and Josh finds one at Wmart. I decided to let go of my OCD behavior for that one moment and let Jed wear this halloween costume his Daddy picked out. I won't tell you what it is but you will all know who picked it out for him when I post the halloween pictures later this month! Another reason I didn't say anything about Josh picking out the costume is because I have already bought Jed 4 Christmas outfits (yes, 4 outfits) and Josh was not too happy with any of them. He said they all looked too girly and too much like dresses. If he messes with me, I swear I'll search high and low for some orange polka dotted material and pay someone big bucks to duplicate this adorable clown suit he wore when he was a little boy!

Halloween Witch Hands
You Need:
1 Plastic Glove
5 Candy Corns
1 or 2 Cups Of Popcorn(we use both regular and cheese)

1. Put 1 candy corn in each finger of the glove.
2. Fill the glove with popcorn, but not to the top.
We put the cheese popcorn for the fingers.

Helping with Dishes

Jed loves taking a bath in the sink! Every evening (when we are home) I cook supper while the girls do homework at the bar and Jed eats his supper in his highchair. After he is finished, he is usually a mess so I just strip him down and put him in the kitchen sink. He loves it! He will laugh and splash and make the biggest mess. Now when I do dishes, he cries to get in the sink!

Happy Birthday Papa Lonnie!

I'm a little behind on getting these updates on here.

Last Sunday after church we drove to Jessieville to celebrate Papa Lonnie's 80th birthday. Memaw Lida cooked a delicious lunch for us all and we had a great time visiting family. Jed had a good time playing with his cousin Hayden and riding on the lawnmower with Papa Rog.

Razorback Game

I won't go into too much detail about the Razorback game last weekend. I will say that we had a good time BEFORE the game. We grilled burgers & hot dogs at our house and had our good friends Donnie and Sabrina over to watch the game with us. We are looking forward to taking the girls to Little Rock in a couple weeks. This will be their first Razorback game. We are going with Donnie and Sabrina and several of Reagon's friends to help celebrate Megan's 11th birthday. I'm hoping Josh will behave!LOL

Yes, Donnie and Josh stood for nearly the entire game!

I'm sure you can tell the video was during the short-lived time we were ahead.

Prayer Request for Today

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,
shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

~~Philippians 4:6,7 KJV~~

I have decided that since my prayer list is growing and growing I would add a daily prayer request to my blog. If everyone who reads my blog would take a minute each day to lift up this person or persons in prayer, just think of the power we would unleash from the throne of God!

I would like to ask you all to remember Jed in your prayers. We go to the Little Rock allergy doctors tomorrow at 8:45am. I'm not sure what the dr visit will be like. I don't think they will do the back/needle testing tomorrow....or at least I'm hoping they won't do it. I feel sure it will be lots of paperwork and more blood testing for his first appt.

We are also going to meet with someone in Little Rock about a great opportunity for God to work through Josh's music ministry. Please be in prayer about this as well. It could really open many doors for Josh and our family.

Please pray that we have a safe trip.

Monday Morning Ramblings

We are nearing my favorite time of year and I can feel my OCD kicking into overdrive! I've been walking 6 miles a day for the last few weeks and during my walks my mind races with so many thought of the upcoming holiday seasons! I love the fall of the year. This morning around 7am I walked outside on the front porch and the cool air just made me want to tear down my porch plants and start putting up hay, pumpkins, scarecrows and mums all over the place! I promised myself I would wait until the first day of fall which is still a week away but I may cave and start early! I just love fall decorations and table centerpieces. To me, nothing is as cozy as a farm house with the fireplace going snuggled up with my kids under a quilt while watching "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" and lots of fall decor spead around. I dug my wreath out of storage this weekend and will add some more touches to it before hanging it on our front door next week. I have been carrying around the new fall Yankee candle catalog for a couple weeks now trying to decide on my candle order. If you have never ordered from Yankee before, you must do this one thing for yourself...especially if you are a candle nut like I am. I finally decided on my 3 favorite scents and placed my order this morning. I can't wait to get them in and start filling this house with the scent of spiced pumpkin! I order several tarts since I have 3 yankee tart burners. I plug them in every single day. Right now I'm burning my "summer scents"...tropical paradise in on my desk right now but it is soon to be replaced with pumpkin pie or autumn woods. I also have the new released autumn angel to go with my collection (pictured). The fall of the year is so beautiful in Arkansas. I love driving around in the evenings as the leaves are beginning to change. We are getting excited about deer season this year. Josh and Jed take a trip to the deer lease almost every single evening (they do this while I walk) and Josh lets Jed "drive" his truck as they watch the dogs run. Looks like we are raising another little hunter in our family. I'm thankful both of the girls like to hunt as much as we do. We always have a great time together during deer season. Both girls are getting ready for the Pike County Fair this week....another one of my favorite fall activities. I love fall festivals and craft shows. My Mom and sisters and I usually always hit the craft shows this time of year. I love the sights and smells....lots of happy people walking around with their belly full of homemade pies and funnel cakes..and the smell of roasted peanuts and caramel popcorn. The girls are both entering several things in the fair again this year. Reagon sewed a few things to enter and will bake her cookies this afternoon to enter before the 6pm deadline tonight. We always wait until the day of the deadline to do the baking..I want it to be as fresh as possible for the judges on Tuesday morning. Kendall is making her first no-sew baby blanket to enter. She will also bake her cookies after school today. She is trying out a new recipe from Sandra Golden's cookbook called Crinkle Top cookies. I talked to Sandra and she recommended these cookies..she almost guaranteed me that Kendall would get the blue ribbon with this recipe! LOL I also enjoy football season this time of year. I'm not much of a sports fan unless it's Kirby basketball but I do love high school football and the razorbacks..not as much as my husbands and other family members love it, but I do enjoy it. We have tickets to take the girls to a couple Razorback games this year but after the way my husband acted on Saturday night after losing to Alabama, I'm not sure I want to be seen in public with him at a game! LOL
I have been thinking about Jed's halloween costume now since August and I still have no idea what he will be. Both girls picked their own...Reagon will be a basketball player and Kendall will be a football player but Jed's costume is still up in the air. I had several adorable ideas that Josh shot down real fast! He refused to dress him like a little black and white skunk or a Anne Geddes teddy bear. He did ok the Robin Hood costume so we'll see.
I'm also getting my wheels turning in plans for Jed's first birthday. I have several themes in mind but think I'll stick to the "first birthday" theme. I have his outfit and birthday hat...ordered off of ebay a couple weeks ago...and I have another outfit ready for his birthday pictures and invitations. I can't believe he is almost a year old! How fast this year is going by!
In case any of you are wondering, it's only 99 days till Christmas! LOL I am ready..to say the least...but that is a whole other post! If you think I'm OCD over the fall....just wait! LOL

Labor Day Fun

Nana Memaw and Popa Rog hosted a great Labor Day party at their home. The day was filled with family, food and fun! The kids had a blast in the pool (as usual) and we enjoyed visiting with April and Greg, Caleb, Memaw Lida, Papaw Lonnie, Derrik and Brandy and Aunt Lonetta. Jed loved having Maylee and Hayden to play with and Kendall had her running buddies back...Aubri and Ava. We had a great time and the kids all played so well together. Jed enjoyed being spoiled by everyone..I don't think he was put down one time during the day! Thanks Nana Memaw and Popa Rog for such a fun day! I hope we can do it again soon!
