The Relay For Life event was held in our area this past weekend. WOW. What an amazing event. This was our first year to participate. Last year, our families joined together and walked for Jed while we were in the hospital. Jed has come a long way in one year!
We decided to decorate our "TEAM JED" booth in bright yellow since that is the color for childhood cancer. The booth turned out great and our family showed up to help pull it all together. I am so very blessed to have such a wonderful family.
There were 48 teams and approx 2,000 people at the event! Our booth raised $3,070.31 and our goal was $2500!!! A few of the Team Jed walkers. My dad (in white hat) wins the "hardest worker" award. He worked NON STOP for hours!!! I literally mean NON STOP. He started well before noon on Friday helping me set up and didn't stop until 6am when we tore everything down to go home.
Josh singing at the event
Our booth was a hit! The funnel cakes were a BIG seller!
The kids loved the "sand dig"!
Lisa and Kendall, walkers for Team Jed
I love this picture! Jed and Ryan...cancer SURVIVORS!!!!
One booth offered massages to the walkers to help raise money. Jedidiah loved this booth!!!!
He was still as a mouse for several minutes. I just kept laughing because he was loving every second of it!
Ryan's mom and I spoke during the caregiver testimonies. I was nervous, but thankful to be talking about all the amazing things God has done for us in the past year.
For me, one of the most emotional parts of the night. The survivor lap. Jed was asked to help lead the lap and just watching him wave to the crowd, followed by so many people who have fought and won their battle with cancer.....it was so moving!
Kendall's sign for our booth. Precious.
Alexa and Reagon getting their face painted at another boothJedidiah was also asked to sing. He chose "Jesus Loves Me" and did a perfect job!
Aunt Tracy and Hudson took charge of the money and helped keep the long lines for funnel cakes entertained..here she is hosting a "bubble blowing" contest! =)
Thanks for all those who helped make TEAM JED and RELAY FOR LIFE a huge success! So many people helped us. My sisters, brother n law, parents, Josh's parents, friends and church family came together to make this an amazing night.
