It's been a while since I posted on here, and since I've worked on my Children's Books. I ended up starting a new freelance job. I spent the last 7 weeks working on 2 writing projects for a company called Teacher Created Materials. The neat thing is I used to use their materials in the classroom when I was a teacher! :) They publish resources created by teachers for teachers to use in the classroom. Anyway, it turns out I only have 1 writing cell in my brain and when it is occupied writing for TCM, I had no inspiration to work on my book. So now that I am done with that project - time to tackle my books. I'm actually hoping that this little break from writing will be good and maybe spark some new inspiration. We'll see....

Oh! And I just started a third book today. I know, I know..... I should finish the first 2 right..... haha

Oh well.... this 3rd is coming along smoothly so far... let's hope I don't get stuck at the ending. :)

F-. That's my grade to myself today on meeting my recent goal of having my first draft ready by Feb. 15th (remember that post?). haha Well, it's not going to happen. I am stuck on the ending of both books I am working on, so that self-imposed deadline has to be pushed back a bit. How far back? Who knows. :)

Having trouble with the ending of both of the books I'm working on. In the first one, the main character needs to solve a problem to make friends, and in the second, a little girl has to change her attitude.... hmmm......

I've checked out about 10 children's books (as many as I could carry out of the library!) and hope to find some inspiration in how other characters in stories have solved their problems....

I went to the writer's workshop meeting I attend twice monthly. It was this group that refueled my writing bug and is motivating me to get my book done. This group is comprised of a wide variety of people working on a wide variety of writing - from poets to short story or memoir writers to fiction novel authors. I think currently I am the only one in the group working on a children's book. When ready to share, you bring a copy of your work for everyone to read and they critique the work and give their feedback. This is such an important part of the writing process. So, I am working on having my first book ready for them to critique at our next meeting- in 2 weeks. I hope I make that self-imposed deadline and I can't wait to get their opinions of my work. :) I may also ask for some volunteers from you- my blog readers- to help with that, too, so if you're interested... let me know!

Continued the character research today. I am refreshing my memory on what owls eat and how they behave. :) Also started a second book today. It was an idea I had planned on shelving until I wrote the owl book, but suddenly today I had all these ideas for the 2nd one. So now I am working on 2 books. I think that will work well for me though...
