Maddy loves to dress herself. She comes up with some great outfits! She was going for a "Princess" look this day!
I was extra tired one morning and decided to sleep in a little, when I came out to the living room, I found that Maddy had dressed Molly. I think she did a pretty good job!
It was awfully quiet in the Barlow house the other day. I knew all the kids were down in Mailei's room hanging out. So I expected noise. And a lot of it. Quiet could not be good with 4 kids in one room, right? I went down to investigate. I see Mailei sitting at her desk, drawing. Then I notice Molly hanging out in the princess tunnel we have. Weird thing is though that it is part way under the bed and she is just hanging out in it alone. Hmmmmmm.......Where's Mikey and Maddy? Wait.....I hear a movie playing, but where is the........huh? Why is they t.v. on the floor?

These kids, gotta love em!

MIA

I'm missing in action. My laptop is having Internet issues. I can access the internet with my husbands laptop, but all my pictures are stored in my laptop. So, until I get that figured out, no pictures. And my posts aren't much fun without pictures....:(

I s'pose I could do a quick catch up though. Life is crazy busy right now. I babysit a darling little busy bee of a boy who is 10 months old, 4 days a week, all day. I also drive my kids to and from school every day for a total of 36 miles a day, yup I spend roughly 80 minutes driving every day. Ugh. But it's worth it, my kids go to an awesome school. Also, I have recently taken on the duty of playing the piano for their school choirs. A Jazz choir and a Concert Choir. They meet before school two days a week. It's been way fun so far. It's good to take on some challenging songs again. "Boogie-Woogie-Bugle-Boy" for example. Whew, it's a fast paced jazzy song. Lots of fun, but not easy, that's for sure. And I'm still den leader for our ward's Wolf den.
This past Saturday, our ward had a talent show. They announced it in relief society a while back and sent around sign up sheets (good old sign up sheets!) I was noticing that no one was signing up and thinking to myself, do I dare? Then I noticed my friend Monica started signing up. I was just starting to think, Oh, that's cool, wonder what she'll do? Then I noticed-hey-wait-she's writing my name too!? For lipsynching? Hmmm..... If you know me, I'm a little --well--shy about those things, but I decided, oh well, it could be fun, and someone needs to do something for this poor little talent show. So we put together a little skit/lipsynch to this cute cute parody of "Hot and Cold" by Katie Perry. (see the youtube video here)
We dressed up in our aprons and rubber gloves and head-kerchiefs (is that a word?) and set up the stage like a living room. We opened by saying how happy we were that we had finally gotten things cleaned up, then our kids came in behind us and did what they do best (see we even showcased their talents!) They messed up the "living room". And we "sang" to them, to the crowd, did a few little dancey-diddies (more made up words) and inspired some laughter and sympathy. It was great! And I wasn't scared, I had a blast and even hammed it up a little! (Thanks for a great time Monica!)

Our little talent show ended up being a great night. We probably had over 100 people show up, with 13 acts. Our Bishop even put on his Dress Uniform (military--can't remember which branch) and sang "God Bless the USA" it was so so so touching, I cried! A bunch of men in our ward also did the infamous Synchronized swimming you've probably seen on you tube (if not, check this out--it's not them, but what they imitated) It was hilarious, especially because it was men I'm used to seeing at church on Sunday, in their Sunday best, with Sunday best behavior. What a riot! I'm told a video may be put together in the near future. If I get a copy, I might share....maybe.....

Anyway~ that's life right now in a nutshell. Hopefully soon I can blog with pictures again. I have so many I want to share!

Crazy 4th weekend

OK, So I'm a bit slow when it comes to certain computer things, I guess. I can't remember what order to upload pictures in on this blogger uploader so that they come out in the order I want. So...this post is completely backwards, and I can't fix it. I'll be telling you my story backwards. 8/

I didn't take pictures of the actual Pocatello Fireworks, because I wanted to watch them and enjoy them. But this is a cute picture of some of the kids bundled up with grandma just before the show started.

But before that, look at the water!!! Would you believe this was dumped on us (this picture is 4 miles from our house) and a few hours later it was gone?!? (Unfortunately probably into a lot of peoples' basements)
Right in the middle of our barbecue, these strange clouds started slowly swirling in. And I mean swirling. If they had been moving quickly, I swear it would have been one heckuva tornado! They had this awesome turquoise cast to them and you could just feel the electricity in the air. It started raining and taking no chances we packed up and ran for cover in the house. Good thing too, it was a doozy, rain..hail......wind.....lightning...thunder.....CRAZY!! It was really cool though, watching the clouds swirl up the way they did, it looked like "The Day After Tomorrow".

Earlier that day, we went up to my step brother's house for a big birthday bash for Grandma Esther (My step-dad's mom) My mom passed out these crazy, blowy, noise maker thingies to all the kids. I looked over and Donnie was rather fascinated with one, the sparkly things on the end had his FULL attention! I had to snap a picture, because it reminded me of my sister Brooke (Who's autistic) and the way she plays with those kind of things. Then, when I looked at the picture, I noticed Katie in the background, just as fascinated as Donnie!! Too funny! It was a fun day!
This is a picture looking down from the deck. My mom is passing out the noisemakers, and I kid you not, she was giggling with glee, knowing it would annoy all the parents! Well, not me, so much, but ya know.......and OK, OK, I think she was also giggling because she knew how much fun the kids would have. :)
It's hard to get a good picture of Grandma Esther, she's a stinker that way, but I had to include a picture of her, she's such a sweet lady! She has just taken us in like we were part of the family from the beginning. Love her! Sitting by her is my step sister Genevieve and her daughter Alex. And behind Genevieve is Katie. Love this family!

On the 3rd, we went to the fireworks in Fort Hall. They have them on the 3rd to celebrate the Fort Bridger Treaty of 1868 . I was impressed! It was a pretty good show, and this year they had music with it from 96.1 The Bull. There also was an Elvis impersonator. We were parked a little down the road from the festivities (free hot dogs and pop and "Elvis") but Mikey and Mailei HAD to go potty, so we walked over and I took that opportunity to peek at the Elvis guy. He was dressed like "soldier Elvis", and singing songs from that time in Elvis' life, which are my favorites! So, I watched for as long as Mikey and Mailei would let me, which was not quite 2 songs! Oh, well, we also got free pop! OOh, and the guy was pretty good! Looked sorta like Elvis, but sounded EXACTLY like him! It was so cool!
A couple shots of the kids waiting for the fireworks to start. Goofy kids!It was a good 4th, and I am so thankful to live in this AWESOME country! We really are blessed!

Happy Birthday Mom!

I wish I had more time for this post. Today is a special day for me and my mom, it is our shared birthday. I have the world's best mom, who also happens to be my very best friend. She is so wonderful, my kids absolutely love her. We wanted to do something special for her today, so my kids sang her happy birthday. Since she's 3 1/2 hours away, I recorded it and thought I'd post it on here. I love you mom!!

(if you notice Mikey talking a little funny, he was trying to keep a very loose tooth from falling out---after this video, I had to pin him down to get that thing out. When all was said and done, all I had to do was lightly push on the back of it and it popped right out. No wonder he could barely talk) :)

Maddy came running into the house, yesterday, so excited she could hardly catch her breath. "Mommy, mommy, mommy! There's a big rainbow!" So, I went outside to see. I wish cameras could capture rainbows easier (probably a user issue if you know what I mean) We are so blessed out where we live, I'd say almost every time it storms, we get to see a full rainbow, often times a double full rainbow in our back yard. This one was not full, but extra bright. You could see the extra colors in it (Purple, and small stripes of more colors after the typical r.o.y.g.b.v.) I was snapping some pictures of it when I realized how cute it was that the kids were playing right under it.
And it hit me: there really IS treasure at the end of the rainbow! At least for me! I am so blessed with my amazing children. They are so special to me. I remind them often that they are my dreams come true. All I really wanted to be when I grew up was a mom. I honestly thought that was just wishful thinking. I was SO shy as a kid, I thought I'd never learn how to even TALK to boys, let alone MARRY one! But here I am with my tall dark and handsome and my four little dreams come true. Heavenly Father has truly blessed me and I am eternally grateful.

P.S. Val, if you're reading this...we've been playing phone tag. I love you so very much and miss you every day!!!

More catching up....

We have 8 kitties living in our yard. They are so cute and so fun. We've named most of them.....there is Thumbellina (the runt), J.J, Prissy, Butterball.....hmmm I guess that's just half......
Mikey went through "passages" at his school. This means he passed on to 3rd grade for next year. He did so good. Every two years, they have to present their best work to a panel of three adults (one teacher, one parent-not their own, and one community member) It's a pretty big deal. If they go through with it, they are presented a certificate at a cool ceremony for the whole school. I was worried he might struggle a little with his presentation, but he received high marks, especially for his first time. I was very happy with the little booger!!
I used to love to watch "Little House on the Prairie" one of my favorite parts was when the little girl went running through the field. This picture reminds me of that. Of course, it's cuter though. ;)
There is this cool remnant of an old corral in front of our house, that I have been wanting to use as a backdrop for pictures of the kids. This one Sunday, as we drove in from Church, I realized the kids were dressed nice, the weather was perfect, I might as well give it a shot. Well, the sun was right in their faces and they were too wound up to sit still, but some of them turned out cute anyway!
I absolutely love this sisterly moment. So precious!
This picture totally cracks me up. Molly fell asleep watching cartoons on the laptop with Mikey. She fell asleep sitting up. We were laughing so hard! As I went to grab my camera she started sliding back oh so slowly. It was quite a laugh! She slept through it all!
This is another picture from our Ward camp out. There is a family in our ward that we are pretty good friends with. It works out well for us to get together, because us parents get along great and our kids pair off and get along great too! This is Molly with her buddy Hunter. Or Tunta as she calls him. They were just chillin'........
This is Maddy with her buddy, Erica, they get along pretty great too, they both love princesses!
This is our 8 man tent. It was our first night in it as a whole family. We fit pretty good. We know how to rough it.....
I just loved how Mikey ran around socializing with everyone, young and old. He had the most fun I think.

Argh!!!

So, here I am finally getting round to blogging. I thought the easiest way to get caught up would be to post a bunch of random pic from the last couple months. Blogger has other ideas. These are the only pictures I can get to upload for now. hopefully more will come soon.
That's Mikey up in a giant tree at our ward camp out. I should have looked closer when uploading. I meant to do a different picture that shows how big the tree was with Mike Smiling at the camera. Darn thumbnails, so misleading they are! ;)
Another pic from our ward camp out (it was lots of fun). Maddy looks like such a big girl pushing Molly around in the stroller. They hung out quite a bit at this camp out it was so cute!

I was thinking I was getting this cute picture of a mommy loving on her baby.Didn't quite work. (again I uploaded the wrong picture---double darn the thumbnails!!) In the pic where we both look OK, I noticed some little golden nuggets perched under each of Molly's nostrils, if you get my drift!

This is just such a great picture of Molly's personality. I just love this little princess!

We had a rainbow land in our backyard. We were so excited to go find our pot of gold, but then disappointed as we watched a little leprechaun run off with it, giggling with glee. Darn leprechauns!!!
Well, that's all for now, hopefully more soon. Love you all!
Smile, just smile through it all!
