Fun Facts

Estelle is growing like crazy.  She slept through the night for 13 days in a row right after we got back from Washington.  I loved it, but knew that it was too good to be true.  All of my girls have started sleeping through the night around two months old, but it is not every night. like Estelle was doing.  Well, the last two weeks she has gotten up every  night...I am not loving that.  I should not complain, but I do like my sleep.  Finally last night she was back to a good eleven hours; hopefully it will stick this time.

Hector and I celebrated our eight year anniversary in July.  Our anniversary was actually during volleyball camp so we waited until the weekend to celebrate.  We saw, Spin, this really fun new musical at a theatre in Arlington.  We had Thia food too because that is my favorite!  It was fun and nice to have three babysitters staying at our house to watch the girls.  It is hard to believe that Hector and I have been married eight years.  I feel like things are really good for us.  I like the point of marriage that we are at.  It feels like we are comfortable and settled and happy; the calm, smooth part of the river.  I love Hector and I am very glad to be floating along with him.

Sienna loves to talk about herself in the third person.  She calls herself Nenna.  "Nenna is hungry, Nenna's tummy hurts, Nenna needs to go potty,  Nenna wants to take nap NOW (yes, she really does say that...and I never argue that one).

Natalia is awesome.  She is so smart and inquisitive.  I love her questions, her desire to learn and all her silly little thoughts.  She has decided that gum is about the best thing in the world.

Camping and Daddy daughter dates!

We have been wanting to take the girls camping but we were not sure how they would do in the tent, so we decided to camp in the back yard!  We have also been using a reward system for the girls where they get to put a pompom in a jar when they do good things or do their chores without complaining, etc.  We told them that when they filled their jars they would get a daddy daughter date.  The jars were almost full this week and we had been wanting to try the camping so we told them to fill the jars so they could go camping for their date.  It all worked out great.  The girls were very excited.  They hung with dad all day and ate way too many treats.  They were so excited about the tent.  We roasted hot dogs and marshmallows and made smores.  Estelle and I slept inside but Hector and the girls made it all night in the tent.  They told stories and played a couple of games and ate more treats.  The girls loved the sleeping bags and air mattresses (no need to really rough it).  Sienna may not have slept the best as she was rather tired all day, but they both could not stop talking about how fun it was.  I loved watching them be so excited!

Luke, Grandpa, and Volleyball Camp

We went to Luke's blessing last Sunday!  He is the newest edition to the family and cute as can be.  It was a busy Sunday and I did not get any pictures of the cute little guy, but I did get some of Estelle in the beautiful dress her Auntie Anthrea made for her.  I think these two babies will be good little buddies when they get a little bigger.  They were both ginormous babies, so it will not be long before they are wrestling around.

My Dad was out visiting the week before that and I did  not get a single picture while he was here, but we did have a lot of fun.  He flew in Sunday night with two of his volleyball players and Monday morning we all headed to the gym for volleyball camp.  He was so much help at camp, but it sure was fun watching him take cat naps any chance he got in the folding chair in the corner of the gym.   Natalia and Sienna got to go to grandma's house, but Estelle spent the week at the gym with us.  She was a superstar.  She slept in the pack and play in the closet durning the camp sessions and I feed and changed her during the breaks.  She loved all the extra people around to hold her.  She is with Megan, one of my volleyball girls, in the picture.  Megan was the baby whisperer and Estelle was so happy any time Megan had her.  Camp was great.  I love having my dad come and run it with me!  We were utterly exhausted at the end of camp and spent the weekend hanging out and relaxing with the three girls.  Natalia and Sienna were happy to finally have some time with Grandpa!

I had a week between volleyball camp and the start of the season.  I read four books and spent lots of time with the girls.  Volleyball started this last week.  I am so glad that tryouts are over now.  We finished making our teams on Thursday.  I am so happy that I am done cutting kids.  I hate doing it but it is all part of the job.  There were a couple kids this year that were especially difficult.

Friday night we had our annual alumni game.  It felt great to play again.  This was only the second time since having the baby.  I can still hold my own against all the youngsters!  I am rather sore today though.

Batman and Superman

I made Batman and Superman cakes for my friend's son's birthday.  They turned out pretty good!

Estelle's first time swimming

We have been keeping busy this last month since we returned from vacation.  We have ventured to the pool several times and Estelle got to swim for the first time.  She loved the water and had a great time watching everyone play while she soaked in the water.

The other girls continue to be really brave in the water.  They both love to jump off the side of the pool.  Natalia loves to put her head under the water and she comes up with lots of fun games to play while at the pool.  Most of them involve me being a sea monster who chases her.
