Depression Cooking with Clara!

I watched Good Morning America this morning and saw a bit about this wonderful 91 year old woman who is showing her Depression era recipes on YouTube! She is hilarious, amazing and just plain adorable! You must check out all her videos. I got a good laugh from this one and her story of her brother's prank. I think I'll try some of her recipes. We love potatoes and almost ALL of her recipes use potatoes and onions. It's not just about her cooking though, she has some darling stories that she shares throughout... I know I really should be working on my homework... but I got distracted!

PS It's my 200th post!! Look at me go!

Our Cute Essayist

Jessica's essay won her 2nd place in an essay contest sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolution. We attended an awards ceremony for her on Saturday and she did a marvelous job. The topic of the essay dealt with Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg address and its relevance today. They had to dress in period clothing and read a portion of their essay. They were photographed and congratulated by some darling older southern women. It was great. Jeremiah's favorite part was the light refreshments! He took a plate full of broccoli and had all the older ladies telling him how great it was to see him eating healthy foods! I laughed because as soon as he downed the broccoli he filled his plate with brownies!! We left Jillian with our friends and she had a ball playing, although I think she would have done great watching Jessi. Thanks to Tina for doing Jess' hair!! I'm soooooo not talented with hair! She looked adorable and had a great day. Afterwards we took her to Logan's for lunch... her favorite! Congratulations Jessi!!

Waiting for them to begin

President's Day Bike Ride

We braved the chilly temperatures to go and ride our bikes with our friends on Monday. We had heard tale of this fabulous paved trail just over the river and through the woods... so we headed there. Sure enough! The most awesome trail for biking was before us! Hooray! We've found our new place to play on the weekends!! We had a lot of fun riding around before we had to head back for some lunch at Subway... mmmmm! It's hard to get a hard-core ride in with our little ones... but we had a lot of fun! Jess and Jeremiah loved getting out on their bikes again. We'll definitely be heading back there soon! You can just imagine how pretty it is going to be there with leaves and blossoms... Can't wait!

Isn't this place pretty?

Throwing it all back in our cars!!

Pretty Valentine Flowers!

Chris and Jillian brought me these gorgeous daisies on Saturday! Aren't I just the luckiest!?! I have such a wonderful sweetheart!
He's so thoughtful! We had a super fun Valentines Day. We left the kids at home and went to eat at Romano's Macaroni Grill. Well, it was PACKED and so we just ordered from the ToGo window and took our food to the parking lot of the movie theater. We ate and talked and then went in to see "Push". It was a pretty lame movie, but we had a lot of fun together. Jessica is a fabulous sitter and we kept in contact with her throughout the evening via MSN messenger and phone. She is a great big sister and we're so lucky to have a built in sitter! Yay!
I just LOVE Valentines Day...

Jeepin'

We were invited over to our friend's home for a Dinner Group last week. It was actually warm enough for the kids to go and play outside! They had a blast in their fun backyard. Jillian especially liked the Power Wheels Jeep! She hit every tree in their backyard until her friend, K, the professional came and showed her the ropes! She was in little girl heaven! You can see it in her eyes! We're sure going to miss our friends when they move next month!!!

My Birthday!

I'm another year older... and wiser too! Hee hee! Here's some pictures from my big day. I had an awesome birthday. Chris let me sleep in a bit while he got the kids ready for school and made us a pancake breakfast -with chocolate chips of course!! Mmmm! He also took the afternoon off so that my friend, Kindra, could take me to lunch at Barbaritos (Think Cafe Rio only NOT) and out to see "Bride Wars". It was such a great movie and we laughed and laughed. Afterwards, Chris sent me on a treasure hunt which ended at a local scrapbook store with me getting the Cricut Expression... Yay! It's on order and I can hardly wait a week to get it and try it out!!! Soooooo cool. After the kids got home from school and finished their homework, we all piled in the car and headed to Red Robin for my birthday dinner... I would have chosen somewhere else, but our kids eat so much now and it's hard to take them somewhere more expensive! Chris and I will go out on Saturday night again to someplace I like a little more. I love Red Robin's Ranch dressing though - IT ROCKS!! Yummy! Jilli loved that the "Red Robin" was there (a guy in a birdy suit!) Thank you so much for all the phone calls, cards and gifts! I loved everything and it was a great birthday! Yee haw!

Jilli wanted to open presents from the minute I got up! She knows that birthdays = presents.

My big present!! I love my husband!! Yes I do!

The COOLEST talking Napolean card... Yep... It's awesome. Come on over and take a listen! :)

Me at the car...

Jilli and I at Red Robin

Waiting for my "cake"

Yep, those candles are in a Krispy Kreme donut - which Chris graciously ate for me!! Hee hee!

The Pinewood Derby!!

Ahhhhhh, the smell of wood glue and model paint! It must be Derby time!! Jeremiah participated in the Pinewood Derby on Saturday with his Wolf pack. He had so much fun racing. His car was AWESOME! Chris did a great job helping Mi paint it and made it look HOT! In fact, Jeremiah won "The Most Realistic Looking Car" trophy! He also won 2nd in nearly all his races and overall they did a great job. I finally took some pictures... So enjoy!

The Racers!! Jeremiah is on the far left in the 2nd row.

Chris' Owee

Jillian said, "Ewwww. Awwww Daddie!!" BUT she wouldn't kiss it. Aren't his stitches so pretty and straight? He had them removed on Friday and I'll get another shot of how well it's healed another day...

Juggling

I am not a very good juggler these days... Sorry I haven't blogged for a bit. I haven't even used my camera... so no pictures on this post... I am staying on top of the housework, kids' homework, and Chris' needs. I am keeping up with my Relief Society duties and staying nearly current with my homework. I am not, however, keeping up with my internet responsibilities! I haven't blogged in a while. I have read some blogs from my cell phone while waiting at the doctor or while driving here and there (Chris was driving!) but I haven't commented on anyone's blogs. I have really dropped the ball and I miss it! I miss blogging. It is a lot of fun and a great release. So, I will try to do better.

Chris had a large fatty cyst removed from his right shoulder. It was supposed to be a quick and easy thing... but was a lot larger and more involved and he ended up with two incisions and 24 stitches! He was very sore for the first week but is doing much better this week. His stitches come out on Friday. He's also had appointments with his knee doctor, allergy and urology. He thinks he spends all his time at the clinic... but hopefully we'll get all his issues worked out.

Jessica won a contest for the local chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. It was an essay contest and she won 2nd place! She gets to read part of her essay in a few weeks at an award ceremony and she's so excited! I will definitely take some pictures of that!

Jeremiah has been working on his Pinewood Derby car with Chris. It looks awesome and has been a fun project for them. The race is this Saturday and I  hope he wins everything! He would love that! It sure looks fast!!! I'll take some pictures of that too!

Jillian is just a joy and keeps me laughing through all the things I do in a day. She is a beautiful singer and loves cartoons - thankfully! She is just awesome and letting me sit and ignore her at the computer for hours each day! I am really lucky to have such a sweet 3 year old. She told us last night that when she grows up she will be FIVE. Love her!

We had a great Super Bowl weekend. We got to sleep in on Saturday morning and took the kids to see "Hotel For Dogs" that afternoon. It was a cute show and the kids loved it. It was nice to get away from home and all the things to do. Sunday we enjoyed our church meetings and then, after a nice nap, went over to the Bastian's for a Super Bowl party. It was a lot of fun with great food and awesome friends. I'm never very into watching the game... but this year it was so fun  and the game was actually interesting! The commercials weren't all that great, but it was an enjoyable evening.

We are thinking we'll be staying on post. There is a four bedroom coming available here in the next month or so. We are a little down about having to continue to deal with Balfour Beatty and the kids having to attend the sub-standard school here... but we're going to do it. Living off-post is not in the cards for us. Sadly. It's all good though. I walked all the way through a 4 bedroom and was amazed at all the storage!!! I have dreams about organizing all our stuff! It's going to be great! AND I will get a room to put all my stampin' stuff.... Yay! I'm not looking forward to the moving part but it will be ok. I'll keep you posted on that - at least as much as I can get to my computer for BLOGGING and not homework!!
