mountain getaway

i'm soooo late in posting these pics from our family trip but here they are finally!! it was 5 days of fun & family!! all of us plus all of our parents and aunt & uncle!! it was a week filled with lots of laughs and good ole' family time. many golf cart rides, feeding the fish, golf for the boys, and of course lots of eating is about what we did all week. carrie & i headed up on wednesday with both kids. they had never been on vacation before or ridden in the car together. lucy was great at entertaining henry during the ride- i think he likes having someone in the back with him! i'm sure it gets lonely riding backwards :). henry started really pulling up on everything while we were there and even attempted some walking behind the toy (with help of course). lucy kept us smiling with all of her beautiful songs (abc's, itsy bitsy spider, twinkle twinkle) and was great at giving lots of kisses. she really is starting to talk a lot and it is so fun to have conversations with her. some of my favorite lines that she had all week were:

1. "he's not listening lala".... was talking about henry if he wasn't doing something i would tell him to do.

2. "i'm being a good listener."

3. "what's that noise?".....she is really into knowing what EVERY single noise is

4. and my favorite one is ...."i love you so much!"

well, we had so many great pictures that i didn't even know how to post all of them so i was attempting to make a slideshow directly onto the blog but i cannot figure it out!!! (carissa i need you!!!) so- you can hopefully click on the link below to go to the album in picasa. i'm hoping you can just click on it and view. keep in touch - we miss you all!

Sweet Henry

So I had to share this for today....

One of the most special gifts I have been given in the past three years is the pregnancy and birth of Lucy. My second most special is the journey through pregnancy with Linds and the joyous birth of Henry. I love that I share a special bond with Lindsay- a secret language, understanding and journey that Lindsay and I as mothers now know together. What a joy it was when Henry was born in November of 2007. In Bible Study this morning, the teacher referenced a passage in Phillippians. I turned to the scripture and there the verse was underlined and beside it written Henry, 11/29/07.
For those of you that may not be aware, Henry had some swelling on his head from some minor trauma during his birth and the doctors were concerned. This was the day he was to leave the hospital and go home. It is so exciting to take your baby home to the nest you have prepared and let me just tell you....Henry's nursery is a place of warmth and yummy decor. So, it was a frightening news and I got the privilege of going to the hospital to pray with some fragile and concerned parents- Lindsay and Brett.

Today- Henry is the sweetest boy. He is perfect. Ten toes, ten finger, sweet blond hair, a smile that lights up the room and a gift from Jesus that is just the cutest thing you have ever seen. I love being his aunt. I love that I live one block away and see him almost every day whether at home or at he and Goose's school. One of the biggest lessons for me today as I listened to the speaker was that being IN God's will is taking care of all that He has given you. So, I commit to logging into the blog and sharing things like my discovery of the verse that we prayed for him that day with you, so one day when these kids are old enough they will know just how much joy they brought us. From the day they were born until forever....

This is the verse that I read as I waited to go see Linds and Brett and wait for the news from the MRI. God's plan is perfect and His word to us is true.

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say in again: Rejoice. Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to the Lord. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." Phil. 4: 4-7

Hallelujah Henry!!

The Lake....

we just got back from a great weekend at lake rabun with our friends the McDonnells and the Schnyders. so wonderful to relax and enjoy some mountain weather while the water was still warm enough for some swimming. 4 kiddos and 7 adults ensured adequate man to man coverage and all four little ladies had a fabulous time. lucy's friends julia and may mcdonnell (age 5) and molly schnyder (age 2) provided our gal goose with lots of playtime on the lake, on the dock, fishing, on a boatride or just chilling out at the house.

it was beautiful and in a setting that is a great example of God's sweet gifts to us- the scenery was incredible. stephen and i loved all the adult time and enjoyed lots of giggles and story telling late into the night. it is always nice to get away for a day or two and get rejuvenated....

lucy sure is getting big...on the way home from a birthday party tonight she kept saying "Ladies and Gentlemen...."- where did she hear that? enjoy the pics. xxoo.

bath time!!

goose and hen- hen and goose- they were around each other so much this weekend that you would have thought they shared a roof. it is one of my (our) BEST blessings to have linds and brett and henry right around the corner. i love that we will grow up sharing special memories but also the everydayness of life. last minute dinners, suprise delivery lattes, drop bys while on a walk, shared funny stories, silly pranks, etc. i didn't grow up with relatives close by and love that lucy will grow up knowing her extended family so well....especially HENRY.

it already is so fun- the two of them are especially enamored with each other- lucy now calls Henry "Bud" and will correct you if you don't call him that. She even reminded one of the teachers at their school the other day that "It's not Hen-wee, it's BUD." Henry (who is already quite wiggly) really gets going when he sees his Goose. see video below.

end of summer days....

is summer really over?? well, maybe the hot weather isn't but i guess we are in september!! time flies! i wanted to post a few of my favorite pics from august. little man is crawling all over the place and just getting into everything! the wine rack, doors, and the humidifier seem to be his favorite objects to head to first. he is saying da-da and ba-ba constantly and the mm's are starting to come out! enjoy the shots below.

family photo....very rare- isn't that awful?

sportin' his overalls from the sadri's

hanging out with his g-friend hartley fuller....jenny has the better picture where hartley leaned in for the kiss!

he is getting to be such a big boy. he had his 9 month check up last week and weighed almost 22 pounds....we are thinking he might be a linebacker.....for the auburn tigers of course!

honey update

thanks to everyone for the calls & emails for updates on mom. she just had her third treatment this past week and only has ONE more to go!! yay! the doctor told her last week that she won't have to have a fifth treatment. such great news- we are all excited and i know she is too. the week to ten days after each treatment has been pretty rough for her. she is sick & exhausted and ends up sleeping most of the day. she also hasn't had much of an appetite and food doesn't taste good at all. not so fun!
big prayers are in need for these next few weeks!!
