Making Beds And Wearing Boxers

It’s almost been a month since I have written about my sweet kids!! I have been super-busy and I can only imagine how fast this summer is going to fly by. The kids are doing great and we have some really good news about Riley. He is almost totally completely 100% POTTY TRAINED!!! Yea!! We are so proud of him! This weekend he took himself to the bathroom and didn’t have one accident!! Of course, his aim is REALLY bad, but that’s beans compared to what we were dealing with. He loves his boxers and looks so darn cute in them.

He’s also making his bed! I don’t know where he picked this up but I like it. Here he is so proud on his newly made bed. I am so amazed at the little sponge that this guy is turning out to be. Lately he has really been interested in Goldilocks and the Three Bears. It’s so cute to hear him retell the story.

Now, onto my firstborn. I can’t believe that Kylie is almost a first grader! She is so excited and that is all she can talk about. She’s also really stoked that she will be going to a BOYS birthday party this weekend!! So far, only the girls in her class have invited her to parties and the fact that a BOY invited her is too cool. I can’t wait for her to tell me what she is going to wear to the party and how Alan and I shouldn’t be anywhere near! Such a little diva!

Here are the kids admiring the flowers that Meemaw planted about a month ago. Look how pretty they are!

Growin' Up

I have so much to record yet no time to do it! Lately, Riley has been owning me something fierce. For the past two weeks, he has been all about, “Mommy, Mommy, Mommy” and I LOVE IT!!! For so long, I have waited for him to call me and now his is FINALLY doing it........every 5 seconds. Yes, it’s exhausting but I am not complaining at all. He also has been wanting “Ky-yee and Kate-yen” to play with him. He loves jumping on the trampoline with all three of us everyday for no less than 30 minutes. We play “ring around the hosey”, stop and go, and simon says. He is definitely including everyone in the house in his play and rarely is reclusive anymore. He is constantly showing me something or asking me for help with something. We are experiencing a little separation anxiety for the 2nd time, but I am SO glad that he is aware of where I am all the time! It didn’t feel great to know that he used to not care who was here and who wasn’t. SUCH a difference from one year ago. I cannot begin to describe how much Riley has grown.

He loves Starfall and when I walked in on him playing on the computer the other day, he was READING about Beethoven while he was pointing the mouse to the text. He had turned down the volume so the computer was silent while he was reading the words. I was so taken aback that I just stood there with my mouth opened, watching how much and how accurate he was reading. I came to the conclusion that he probably had the text memorized from listening to it so many times, so I tested him. He has definitely picked up some sight words and gets really close to the actual word if he doesn’t get it right. I have suspected that he could read for some time now. Now we work on the comprehension!

I haven’t talked about Kylie in a while and I just wanted to add a few things about my favorite girl! She is definitely getting older and sassier! I LOVE spending time with her! She’s so bright and full of so many questions and observations. She is ecstatic about being a first-grader and ready for summer to start so she can swim. She is getting more patient with Riley, especially since he wants to be a part of her world. She has let him sleep in her bed with her a couple of times and tries to look out for him and help him when he needs it.

Her favorite movies are Enchanted, No Reservations, Matilda, Corrina Corrina and Summer Rental. She still loves High School Musical and Cheaper By The Dozen, and any movie about family or family vacations. She desperately wants a bigger family but is not willing to share me with anyone. So, that’s not going to happen!

She has read so many chapter books, I can’t keep up anymore. She is always wanting to go to Barnes and Noble for the latest book she has heard about. She is also still drawing a lot and making books. I can’t tell you how much paper I throw out a day.

Both kids are such a blessing and I love each day that we spend together. Thankfully we get a little break this weekend, thanks to my parents, and I will really enjoy spending time some much-needed time with Alan!!

tomorrow

Tomorrow we start back to school. UGH! I don't wanna go back just yet but I know that my body and mind will feel better once I get back....
