Miss America...there she is!

Teresa Scanlin, Miss Nebraska/Miss America

Saturday night, we watched the famous Miss America pageant. Why? Because we didn't go anywhere and there was nothing else on tv to watch. I can remember watching the Miss America pageant growing up with my mom and it was always a good time. She always liked the brunettes and I always pulled for the blondes. That is, if Miss Texas didn't make the cut! We always liked Miss Texas!

I wasn't sure if Kylie would think it was cool or not but I thought I would give it a try. I also begged Alan to stay in the same room with us even though he said, "Well, I'm outta here, then!" He did end up staying and as it turns out, Alan knew more facts about the pageant than I did! He knew that Miss America doesn't go to the Miss Universe pageant and he also knew some of the past Miss America contestants.

It was the 90th year and Miss Nebraska, Teresa Scanlan, took the crown. She is only 17 years young and is cute as a button! She played the piano and was really good. And, she's blonde!

The best talent BY FAR was good 'ole Miss Arkansas, Alyse Eady!! She did a singing/yodeling ventriloquist act to "I Wanna Be a Cowboy Sweetheart" all through a big smile. We were all watching her with our mouths open. I was expecting Barbara, Louise and Irlene Mandrell to come strutting out on stage for a big dance number at the end. (I stole that line 'cause I thought it was funny & so true!!) I have never seen a talent that good in one of these pageants- EVER!! She was named runner-up but won the whole show according to us!

Such a beautiful girl!!

I also would not have minded if Miss Texas, Ashley Melnick would have won. Her platform is "The Voice of Autism". She has an older brother with Autism and wants to use her voice to educate others on Autism. Love that! She got eliminated before we got to see her talent.

So it turned out to be a fun night after all. I can see us making this a yearly tradition in our house from this year on.

steal, lie, cheat quote

I saw this quote on the movie Leap Year with Amy Adams. The movie was just okay as you know I am a sucker for romantic comedies, but what stood out to me was a quote from a random bride in the movie. I don't know if it's an old Irish quote or if someone just made it up for the movie but I really liked it.

Peace, Love, & Hogs

So excited about watching the Hogs play in the Sugar Bowl tonight! We are going to eat cajun food and cheer our Hogs on to victory! I am really sad about this being the last game of the season so I am going to sit back and enjoy every minute of it! If we play like the team that we have grown to be- we will beat Ohio State- no question about it. So, here's to playing our best game! Go Hogs!!

tomorrow

Tomorrow we start back to school. UGH! I don't wanna go back just yet but I know that my body and mind will feel better once I get back....
