Naseem did a fantastic job of wrapping up the kings and prophets section of the Old Testament and in the process provided us some great resources for reading through the Old Testament. Check out the Power Point for yourself.

Taco Seasoning and Missions Projects
Here is the recipe for taco soup for the small groups who are preparing it this week! Thanks so much for serving in this way!
Ingredients for Church Under the Bridge Taco Soup.
2 lbs ground beef (cheapest is fine)
1 packet taco seasoning mix
1 packet ranch dressing mix
1 can of corn (drained)
1 can of pinto beans (drained)
1 can of black beans (drained)
1 can diced tomatos
1 can of rotel
1 small can diced green chiles
1 1/4 cup of water
Brown the meat. Assemble all ingredients but taco seasoning in large pot. When meat is browned and drained add taco seasoning. Add meat to rest of ingredients - simmer for 20 minutes (if you want to skip the simmering thats alright - the soup will need to be warmed night of anyway)
We are asking each small group to make 4 batches of the above recipe for Church Under the Bridge on November 10th.
We will combine all the soup into large "crawfish" boilers during the event, warm and serve.
Thanks,
The Spells

Marvin on Dispensationalism
Marvin blew our minds last week with his lesson on dispensationalism. I recommend grabbing a cup of coffee and your thinking hat for this one!

Houston Project Info
It's almost time for Houston Project! If you're wondering how you can help out, here are a couple of ways you can give.
1. Vacation Bible School Prizes – Each Houston Project site that ministers through Vacation Bible School will have prizes available for the kids who participate. Kids will receive prizes for memorizing Bible verses, winning games, Bible trivia, etc. We are asking for the Life Bible Studies to help contribute if possible to the prize pool. If your class plans to do a prize collection for Houston Project here are a few details:
a. Prizes can be turned in to the Missions Office by Sunday, June 24
b. Prizes are needed for boys & girls ages 4-12
c. Ideas: hard candy, small cars, bubbles, slinkies, etc (many people find dollar stores a great place to find items)
2. Financial Donations – These donations help provide scholarships for people who otherwise may not be able to participate. Donations also help provide Bibles, evangelism material, food and various other supplies for the week. If someone is interested in giving financially toward the Houston Project they can:
a. Give Online – HoustonsFirst.org/ HoustonProject and click on the “Donate” button
b. Mail or bring their donation to the missions office (checks made out to HFBC, designated for Houston Project)

Volunteers Needed for Kids Club
If you were in class on Sunday, you heard Naseem challenge us to pick a ministry opportunity and just do it. Well, here you go! God has put it upon the hearts of some people from HFBC to move away from the comfort zone of their nice suburban neighborhoods and into a Low Income Housing Apartment Complex. They spend countless hours loving on people that don't necessarily look or talk like them. They show Christ's love by being a good neighbor.
One of the organized ministries they do inside the apartment complex is to host a Kid's Club every Saturday morning. If you have never been a part of a Kid's Club, it's basically a mini-VBS rolled into one day. They invite all the school-aged children in the complex to come. These kids get to hear God's Word, do a craft, play some games, eat some snacks and get some love and attention that they may or may not get from their parents. It is a beautiful thing. On Saturday, April 28, we get the opportunity to participate in this awesome ministry! All the details are planned out for us. We just go in and execute.
The week before we go, we will get all the details of what the lesson is, what games we're going to play and all that jazz. This event is for school-aged children and your kids are welcome to come and join in on the activities and/or help. We'll be there from 9am-noon on Saturday, April 28. If you can spare a measly 3 hours of your Saturday time to help out with this wonderful ministry, please email PJ Gill and let him know you're in. We need 8 more volunteers, so sign up and show these kids some love!
