I will miss your beautiful soul. I was sad for the loss of such a powerful, yet humble leader and Prophet. I was happy for Marjorie... Hope hugs and kisses were sweet after your passing. You stand among the great prophets, and you stand tall. Thank you for making me want to try harder in every single thing I do. YOU made a difference in my life. You lived the teachings of Jesus Christ and helped me build my testimony of the Savior through your love and service for him. My heart is open to whomever will follow you as the next Prophet. ....till we meet again...

Why you wonder if they'll ever make it in the world...

Mandyism - put your seatbelt on.... conversation:

(Let's set the plot first - Ryan is off kicking some running butts in Arizona on the BYU Track Team, impressing all around, doing the right things, being a good boy. Mandy - is a tad ADD and needs to have constant activities that put the fear of (our holy maker) into her mother. So I, as a loving a caring mom calls and checks on the Provo child to make sure she's home safe and sound and warmly tucked in....)

Mom: (Questioning voice) "So it's 10:00 pm and it sounds like your are - - - anywhere but home?"
Mandy: "Ya - I'm with Megaho"

PAUSE: When Mandy and Megaho are together - there is certainly reason to call 911, Search and Rescue, National Guard and perhaps the Red Cross - each child on their own is their own tornado - so putting them together... ya .... continue story.

Mom: "PUT MEGAHO ON THE PHONE!"
Megaho: "Oh Hi other mom - whats up?"
Mom: "Please don't TAKE Mandy anywhere...."
Megaho: "Don't worry - here's Mandy back......"
Mom: "WAIT!!"

Mom: "Where are you going""
Mandy: "Well about 15 of us are going to Utah Lake to walk on the ice....."
Mom: "WHAT?"
Mandy: "Don't worry mom, we're taking ropes....."

Your mother will say, "I hope you have a daughter just like you when you get older", and the Creator will somehow make it so.....

Charlie....

Just in case you were all wondering why the world was a brighter place today - The Bowen family tree grew another branch and added a bright new star! Charles David Bradshaw came in with the blizzard on January 8th at 7:26 PM. Weighing in at 7 lbs 6 oz and measuring 20 inches long. Charlie's parents are my niece, Elizabeth and her hubby David. It is the first Great Grand child brought into the world by the first born Grandchild on the Bowen side. So today - I share with you a very special 4 generation picture. My ever so handsome brother Eric, my beautiful niece Betsy, her little redheaded son Charlie, and my beautiful mom and new Great Grandmother June Bowen. You all look tired! Thank heaven for beautiful babies. Welcome to the world my little grand nephew! The Hillary/Doxstader/Merriman clan send all of our sweet love and a bunch of kisses to each of you! OK my sweet daughter in law Bethany - you are next in February and then the bragging will begin.... I like this family tree stuff!

For Mike

Grandpa, this snowfall was for you...

Unfortunately my children's grandfather, my dad Fred Bowen, (a handsome Clark Gable lookalike) is currently spending the rest of his time on this earth in a rest home. My dad was a firm believer in work- and lots of it. I remember growing up and doing chores that I thought were crazy - but those were never done without my dad next to me telling me not so much how to do it - but why I was doing it. I had the opportunity to to a taped interview with my dad before he lost the ability to speak. In the interview I asked him what he would like his grandchildren to learn from him. He said, of course, he wanted them to learn how to work hard. He said, "It builds character, it gives you peace, and it feels even better if you are working hard at doing a free service to someone." He wanted them to grow up and contribute to society through their hard work ethics. Today, I returned home from a spin class tired - but there was a lot of beautiful snow that had fallen while I was away. I started right up shoveling. Pretty soon I noticed that Ashley (who was at the workout with me and was waiting for the next workout to start), and Ryan (also with a long task list for the day) never the less were soon shoveling with me. We all started venturing off into the neighborhood - and just for fun shoveled walks where we knew that they had a snow blower! We all met up at the last house and finished it off before heading in for hot chocolate (and buttered toast!). There is no doubt in my mind that if Mandy and Matt were there - they would have been right beside me shoveling also. I thought that at that moment of watching my rosy cheeked children putting away the shovels with smiles and a look of sneaky satisfaction - that I wanted to let my dad (who is laying there with no ability to use his legs anymore....) know that "This snowfall was for you...." I love you dad! Gotta go to work now...
