Backyard!

It is finally warm enough to venture out into the yard and the kids are thrilled! It rained yesterday and that was just enough to melt the last snow in the backyard. I haven't seen the kids all morning apart from the request for a "snack". Trace's internal clock would not allow him to miss that! Anyways to all of you out there, HAPPY OUTSIDE PLAYING!

It's all good...

No broken bones! Pretty much it is just a "really good" shiner. The swelling did stop, then it began to turn black and purple. Now it has begun the lovely green stage. The Doc did say that it will look pretty bad for about a month. However my favorite is when Gideon happens to see himself in the mirror, "Mommy! I have a little black bump right there!" He sounds most concerned but shortly forgets about it until he sees the mirror again. :)

It is getting worse...

Well good morning son! Apparently his new injury was not done swelling last night. We are off to the Dr's office shortly. Did you know that the bone around the eye is very easily fractured? Yes, this is what the nurse told me on the phone...

Brotherly Love

Suddenly I hear crys of pain. Gideon is the first one up the stairs with this to show for it...

Trace is next, with no visible injuries. The outwardly calm mother in me asks Gideon what happened. "Trace hit me with..." The answer changed each time that I asked. The swelling did finally stop, so we have been icing it and hopefully it will look better in the morning. As I was putting Trace in his jammies I noticed a small goose egg on the top of his forehead, you know the hardest part of your head. Yea, I think they crashed. Another day, another injury mystery solved. Sheesh!

Project #2

Well I did it! My other project for January was my cooking project. I love to cook, but sadly time is an issue around here. By the time dinner rolls around I'm not really in the mood to create a masterpiece. So I did a little homework on how to do it properly and have made dinners for a whole month and they are now frozen in my freezer! It is called 30 meals in 1 day. I gotta tell you it was a long 8 hours, but so far so good. The grocery bill was less than what we normally pay a month. I was concerned about having freezer burned food, and always having the dinners taste like leftovers, BUT the book that helped me with my project addressed all of my concerns. We have had two meals so far, and they we both yummy. I will keep you posted on how successful they all are.

So I fixed the post a little. This is the book that I used to get me going on this. I also bought the software that goes with it. The software has the recipes, prints menus, grocery lists, and labels for the frozen stuff. I put in the servings I wanted of each recipe, and then it generated the grocery list for me!

Now I guess I have to set some new projects for February! :)

The Red Grandma

My mom came this last weekend to spend sometime with the kids before tax season got crazy for her. She helped the kids make some VDay cookies. They all had a blast and made a "wonderful" mess. :)
Trace rolled out the cookies and then promptly ate them. Gideon liked to frost his and then eat them. Do you know how long it takes to frost lots of cookies when you have to stop and eat each one after you decorate it?

And Kodi LOVED the sprinkles. Would you like a little cookie with those sprinkles?? Thanks Red Grandma for the cookie fun!
