Happy Halloween

Saturday was a fun filled day for everyone! It started out with the Sheep Parade (see post below). Then we came home to carve our pumpkins.
Kodi wanted a scary one.
Gideon wanted a happy one.
Trace wanted a scary lion one.
Tell has a winking one.
This year we went out Trick or Treating, door to door, for real. We have never done this. Normally we go to the few family houses we have around town and call it good. However my sister had different plans for us. :) The kids had a great time and thought it was a great adventure. I was tired, but I think I was tired before we went.
Oh, we did have one scary experience when a very large alien opened the door. Trace and Tell wanted NONE OF THAT! They were traumatized. They did not want to ring more doorbells unless I was right there with them. And even then they would ring it and then step WAY back.

Kodi was a bumblebee. (Short story - When we were getting ready Kodi was walking around the house in her black leotard. Gideon informed her that "your leotard kinda looks like a diaper". Brotherly love at it's finest!)

Gideon was Superman.

Trace was Buzz Lightyear.

Tell was a Fireman.

Sheep Parade

Of course we would never miss the sheep parade. The kids do not look happy or excited. When you are 4-ish and three sheep camp trailers have already went by, you have no desire to see 20 more. And it was getting cold. BUT then the 1000 head of sheep came running down main street. Yep, it was worth it!

A Small Reminder

Peek-a-boo Aunt Toni, I see you!

Toothless

The girl lost her two front teeth. She thinks it is great, and loves to show the world. Even with less teeth she is still beautiful. Nope, I'm not biased, just calling it how I see it. :)

New Friend

We sold our house and moved. A HUGE thanks to all the muscle that came and helped out! We are mostly settled and getting used to a new place. However this new creature and his followers love that we live here. We are definitely a "dog" family. (Hannah and GusGus are waving.) It takes approximately 2 seconds of the backdoor being open for this fella and his followers to dash in to eat the dog food. This guy is not scared of us. (His followers of two white cats are petrified of us.) But he is fearless even when Gideon carries it around like a dish rag.

I'm A Big Kid Now

My baby went and did it! We are now officially potty trained. (Even at night!) We are a diaperless household.

Better Late Than Never

I know that I am slow in posting, but I just have to remind you all (in case you forgot from last year) I LOVE THE SKYFEST!
This year I was not disappointed. We were right in the middle of the field so we got to see them go from nothing to huge! (Up close)
Someday, I will ride in one. Without Heath, of course, but someday.

Singing

We (Trace, Tell, and I) were coming home from grocery shopping yesterday. An upbeat song came on the radio. From the back I hear, "Mom, look." I turn to see his foot tapping along to the beat.
"Mom, my foot is singing!"

It Happened Again!

My big boy started preschool today. He had a "super, duper, ally, ooper time"! He goes for two hours, three days a week. I consoled my self by making Oreo Truffles of which I ate one, and called Heath to come take the rest away. :)

This weekend was the Iron County Fair. We had a blast! (I forgot the camera.) We hit the parade first. Then Heath and Kodi split to go see about parade floats and ended up in the parade. :) The boys and I watched as much of the parade as our attention could hold, and then headed to the fair grounds. Uncle Darce and family showed us all the horses and bulls. We had lunch with the Blue Grandma and Papa. And then went to the horse races. I have never been to one before. (I have seen them on TV.) It was so EXCITING! On the way out we stopped by the petting zoo. By the end of the day we were definitely tired, dirty, and happy.

Back to School!

"Start spreading the news,
I'm leaving today,
I wanna a be a part of it
1st grade, 1st grade!"
My girly started 1st grade yesterday. She LOVED it! (I knew she would.) I hated it! (I knew I would.) She was gone all day, even for lunch. I don't think that should be allowed. We live across the street from her school. It is possible that I had the binoculars out looking for her during recess...possible. Anyways, I glad that she is learning and interacting with her peers. Yes, that is what I keep telling myself. This is a good thing. Today was day number two. It wasn't any easier than day number one, sheesh. When will it get easier?
p.s. She has a loose tooth as well.
p.p.s. Could the growing up clock please go slower?
p.p.p.s. Stop the insanity!

Update Please!

Dear Jeri,

I am sad! You have not updated me in ages. People keep coming to check in on you and your family and nothing new is there for them to see. Please take the time soon to let the world know what you guys are up to. Yes, I know you finally added a background. Thank goodness because white was B O R I N G!! But the masses need more.

Sincerely,
Your Blog

Happy Father's Day

Our Daddy wanted to go camping, so what better time than on Father's Day. (And it finally decided to stay warm enough we could venture out.) Of course our Daddy, is an expert camper and showed us all how to properly relax in the hammock.
Gideon found happiness in all kinds of rope. He tied the Tahoe up, he tied the trailer up, he walked on the rope, he swung the rope around, he LOVES rope.
The Tell bear, ate and ate and ate some more. What kind of a camping trip would it truly be with out s'mores and the sticky face that goes with it?
Hannah was more than happy to help Heath out relaxing in the hammock.

And the 4wheeler got just a bit of use on this trip. :) We went up to the lake and fished and scouted out some great campsites for the 4th of July weekend party that is coming up.

We love our Daddy and are so thankful for him!!

Happy Father's Day to all the great Dads out there! We hope that you had a great day!

The Month of June & Gus Gus

June has been hoping for us. We had Daddy's birthday. We spent time on the farm with Aunt Danna and her family. We went and saw some awesome fireworks for the Summer Games. And we added to our family. We would like to introduce you to Gus Gus. :) The little sucker won't hold still for a picture so you can't really see how big, or little I should say, he is from this picture. We all think he is great. Hannah really hasn't decided what to think about him and has been mostly avoiding him.

Spring Fever

This weekend we got our backyard BBQ ready. :) We got the garden ready for plants. We planted flowers all over the yard. It was a wonderful day spent outside enjoying the sunshine and fresh air.
Then last night at about 10:30pm, Heath and I were running around getting empty milk cartons on top of the flowers in the garden. Bringing in the hanging pots. Putting blankets over the flower beds in the front. We weren't doing this for fun, no it was snowing.....again.
Thankfully we didn't plant the tomatoes. I was really in the mood because it was a fabulous day, but decided to wait just a few more weeks.
This afternoon, the snow has melted and the kids are in the backyard enjoying the sunshine again.
Happy Crazy Weather Days! :)

Guess What? She is 6!

My baby girl turned 6 last Monday! Can you even believe that she is that old? We finally made her room "girly" for her birthday, and she LOVES it! We painted the walls purple and one wall has blue diamonds on it. The Red Grandma gave her a coordinating bed spread so the room is complete.
She wanted cake balls for her birthday. But she also wanted a Sleeping Beauty cake. The cake balls are a bit small for any decor, so we had to improvise. She loved it, and the cake was yummy!!
Kodi is a true jewel of our family. Not sure what we would do without our girly keeping us all in line and together. :) HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOODLE!

Kindergarten

Yesterday my girl had her Kindergarten program. She practiced, and practiced, and practiced some more. She was so excited when the big night finally came.
She was of course the cutest little graduate there! (No I am not biased, just stating the facts.)
This is her teacher Mrs. Jones. We love her. This picture is a very common sight for me. She always takes the time for each student and has been a wonderful teacher this year. Even through all my "this is my first kid to go to school" syndrome that I haven't overcome yet. :) Here is one of the little songs that they sang at their program. Yep it is sideways, you are just gonna have to turn your head. :)

Red 3 is 3!

Well it happened again around here, another birthday! My big boy turned 3. (This is the birthday on the 4th, Aunt Toni. :) )
Apparently Bob the Builder is only cool to my son these days. So yes, that is last year's "Bob" on the cake, but he didn't care because it was a Bob the Builder cake again. :)
Happy Birthday Trace!
So now for a few weeks my kids will be 5yrs old, 4yrs old, 3yrs old and 2yrs old. That makes the OCD inside of me very happy!

My Baby is 2!

Can you even believe that my baby can be 2 already? Seriously where did the time go?
Of course he L-O-V-E-D helping me make the cake. And because it was his birthday he got the beater all to himself. The beautiful perks of having it be your day.
I made these super cute cones. I put M&M's in the bottom of the cones and then the cake on top. He loved finding the candy inside and made a wonderful mess!

I sure love that kid!

What Should We Do Now?

It was a beautiful day at the lake today! This morning we loaded up the kids and headed down to Sand Hollow for a little morning fishing.
It was a little overcast, which made it cold for me, but that didn't seem to deter anyone from having a great time.
Gideon was the most energetic fisherman on this trip. And he wanted Dad to see every rock, mud puddle, and (plastic) fish that he caught. :)
And then after a wonderful nap we headed to CAL to pick out our new chickens. They each got to pick one out and name it, of course.
Kodi's is the striped one named: Missy
Gideon's is the yellow/white one named: Wendy
Trace's is the black one named: Bob the Builder
Tell's is the brown one named: So he hasn't given us any great ideas for names that we can understand, anyways. I'm hoping for Caroline or GusGus, I guess in a few days we will figure out what to call that one. :)

Bloomin' Where You're Planted

We bought our house about 4 years ago. It has been through a lot since then. The front yard has had the weeds overtake it. It has had weed killer dowsed on it. It has been cleaned and scraped with a big ol' tractor. It has more dirt added, and finally it has had sod laid on it.
These are my flowers that come up through the grass every year. I do nothing to help these beauties appear, or stay alive for that matter. Each year when it is finally time to mow the lawn it is too hot and they have died for the year. So in my patient mode, I mow right on over them each week wondering if next year they will again prevail and greet us each spring. So far they do. In fact this year there seems to be more than before. I love these flowers. They bring my heart joy each time I drive up to the house, look out the window, or catch their beautiful color out of the corner of my eye. They remind me to be strong and to "bloom" no matter what happens on around or under us. I make the choice to withstand all the bad stuff that comes my way and come away from it even better than before!

And here is my blue eyed baby. Oddly enough my kids remind me to be better as well. They forgive me so easily for my shortcomings. They may not like what I say, but at the end of the day they love me and give me the best hugs. My hubby and the kids bring my soul to life, and make me smile each day. So, I will also forgive others for their shortcomings, and remember that we are all children of God at the end of the day!

The Plight of the Laundry Maiden

Why, oh why, do I always let it get so far behind and backed up that I can't remember what color my laundry room floor is? And why does it seem to happen over night? I really don't mind throwing a load in, or moving it to the dryer as I am bustling through that room. But the folding of it all! You know the loads that sit, and sit and by the time you have to fold it, it looks like they are dirty?
Then you finally get it under control, and you look around to see more. The lone sock that the dark corner was holding ransom. The bathroom "accident" that happened 30 minutes after the last load went in. The soiled mommy shirt, from loving a wound better.
It is a never ending vicious cycle.
So until I get brave enough to go around naked, Happy Laundry Days!

Happy Easter

We had a wonderful Easter this year! Thanks to the Red Grandma we looked beautiful and oh so handsome. The girl came to me and informed me that she did not like the yellow jelly beans, and that she was "definitely allergic" to them. :) We hunted for eggs all over the Blue Grandma's yard. We colored and made "shiny" eggs like we were professional artists.
We hope that you all had a wonderful weekend!
PEEK- A-BOO!

Happy St Patrick's Day!

St. Patrick's Day has never been a big holiday for me. I haven't really ever anticipated the day, or stressed about what green I will find to wear. (My eyes are green, and I wear those everyday.)

Well this morning at approximately 3:00 in the AM, my little daughter came upstairs in tears!
"Mommy, I HAVE to wear green to school or I will get pinched."
"Sister, we will find some green to wear in the morning I promise."
Then she calmed down and finally went back to sleep. (It felt like hours to me, but in reality it was probably only about 10 minutes.)

This morning we found green for everyone to wear. (Except for Daddy, he left before she woke up because she had a late night waking - see above.) The world has been made right, and all will go well at school today.

Then she did tell me about some little green men. (She couldn't remember what they were called.) And that they would come and paint her face. She said this smiling but later confessed to hiding under her blankets.

I love that girl! So today HAPPY ST PATRICK'S DAY to all!!

A Little Fact About Sharks

This is my son.
This is my son in his shark jammies.

This is my son in his shark jammies, being a shark.

T - "Mommy, I have a hurt right here on my leg."
M - "I'm so sorry son, where does it hurt."
He then points to his thigh where there is a red mark. Being the good mommy that I am I move in to kiss it better.
M - "Son are you wearing any underwear?"
T - (insert mischievous smile)
M - "Trace, you aren't! Why aren't you wearing any underwear?"
T - "Cause Sharks Don't Wear Underwear"

"Mom, if you make a good lunch, I will LOVE you!"

Innocent Prayer of a Child

I love to hear my kids pray. They each do it their own way which is wonderful. (For example Gideon always prays for Grandma, usually that is as creative as he gets.) Today we had a particularly great one.
"Heavenly Father, please help Mommy not throw all of our toys away."

In Case You Were Wondering

Kodi has a VDay party today at school and she can't wait! (We love VDay around here.)
Ever since we went to visit Aunt Toni, Gideon always wants his hair to be like a "rock star".

NEVER pass up a chance to give a good ol' cheeser.

Your sister's fuzzy pink purse can always double as a helmet! :)

Oh the Girly!

K - "Mom, did the groundhog see his shadow?"
M - "Yep, what does that mean?"
K - "I guess we get 16 more months of winter."

The Snow Hill

Thank you snow hill for helping me get my workout for the day.
Thank you snow hill for bring us much laughter.
Thank you snow hill for bringing courage to my kids.
But most of all thank you snow hill for exhausting my children. (Bedtime was so easy!)

Quote for the Day

Gideon: "Kodi I know that you are getting big, BUT you are still little!"

Plight of the Little Big Kid

Each day Tell is becoming more and more aware of what the big kids are doing and so he wants to do the same. My kids take their dishes to the sink after we eat. So when you are small but long to be a big kid this is what happens. That sink is just a bit too high for him to get that cup in there without dumping it on his head.
He is smiling in the picture because of Daddy (note the background) but when it happened it was traumatic and he couldn't quite understand what went wrong.

REALLY?

Well folks, today is the day. The day it all started. The day we both said yes! And yes, it really has been nine years.
Lets see there has been: 4 kids, 3 houses, 3 vehicles, and 1 dog.
Loads of heartache and tears, but much much more LAUGHTER and FUN.
I can't think of a single thing I would change about those years.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY HEATH!

***And yes I know he will see it, because I know he is a closet blog checker. :) ***
