One Month Old!

Landry is one month old!

Month One

Had to throw this picture of Mason in for comparison:

Weight:
9 pounds 7 oz. (birth: 7lbs 13oz)
(one ounce less than Mason)

Length:
21 1/4 inches (birth: 19.25 inches)
(one inch less than Mason)

Diapers:
Size 1

Clothes:
Newborn size.

Feedings:
Every 3 hours. All breast milk.

Nights:

4 -5 hour stretches of sleep and 2 night feedings.

Down at 9-10, up at 2-3 and again at 5-6

Personality:
Cuddle bug pretty much sums up this little boy. Happy happy happy and loves
being held. Overall he just seems like such a content baby compared to Mason.

Development:

Smiles, probably involuntary.

During his 1st month Landry slept alot during the day
and not very much at night, despite our hardest efforts.

Always had a paci in his mouth, thanks to big brother Mason.

Had his first bath and loved it. He looks foward to bathtime.

Like most babies, Landry had his nights and days confused from the beginning. He spent most nights awake and grumpy for at least 2-3 hours and was only happy when being held. He was also on a 3 hour eating schedule and at night would sometimes want to eat sooner.

Finally at 4 weeks he started sleeping more at night. Within a few days he had even stretched out his first night feeding to 4 1/2 hours.

He is an unbelievably happy baby. A huge cuddle bug, but super content and easily comforted.

For the most part, this two kid juggling act isn't as bad as it could be. Honestly, my kids are both so easy going that this seems a little too good to be true at the moment. Granted there are always days and times when I don't feel that way, but I am so grateful for what we have because I know it could be a lot different. Mason loves Landry and is not jealous. He completely understands when the baby is hungry, crying, or has a dirty diaper that mommy has to stop what she is doing with him to go tend to the baby. I know not all toddlers would respond this way and I feel fortunate. Of course it is a lot different with two because neither child gets nearly as much attention as your first baby did when it was just him, but that's just life. Really sleep (and I guess the c-section recovery with a toddler) has been the only struggle. For the first 4 weeks, no exaggeration, when Mason was asleep both at night and during the day, Landry was wide awake wanting to be held. This mom was tired and if it hadn't been for help from both sets of grandparents, I would have probably had a little mental meltdown. Things have gotten much better and since nursing is not a struggle like it was the first time around, I feel like I've got things under control for the time being. :)

I am looking forward to the next few months as Landry starts to develop and Mason will get to experience it with us. He gets so excited when Landry "talks", so I can only imagine what he will think when he starts to smile, laugh, roll over, crawl, etc.

Newborn Pictures

We took pictures when Landry was 10 days old.
Here are some of my favorites from that day.
