Projects
More of what's been keeping me busy.
Special thanks to Natalie Brower for the mirror. I painted it with the leftover paint from the wall.
Wish I could say I painted this free hand and perfectly, but it's vinyl.

I love it. It's perfect.
Then I painted this which was left by the previous occupants.
Notice something new that it's sitting on? Yup that's my Mother's Day gift! For probably the next 5 years. A BRAND NEW kitchen table! I love it. It's one of those square counter height tables and currently does not have the leaf in it.
And one last thing to fill some wall space...
Wish I could say I painted this free hand and perfectly, but it's vinyl.
"The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, backgrounds, or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before.
Everyone can create. You don’t need money, position, or influence in order to create something of substance or beauty.
Creation brings deep satisfaction and fulfillment. We develop ourselves and others when we take unorganized matter into our hands and mold it into something of beauty...
You might say, “I’m not the creative type. When I sing, I’m always half a tone above or below the note. I cannot draw a line without a ruler. And the only practical use for my homemade bread is as a paperweight or as a doorstop.”...
If that is how you feel, think again, and remember that you are spirit daughters of the most creative Being in the universe. Isn’t it remarkable to think that your very spirits are fashioned by an endlessly creative and eternally compassionate God? Think about it—your spirit body is a masterpiece, created with a beauty, function, and capacity beyond imagination....
Try to see how many smiles you can create, write a letter of appreciation, learn a new skill, identify a space and beautify it."

Finally Presenting the 2nd Lieutenant
Pictures to prove this event really took place.
Corey was sworn in by retired Chaplain Colonel Humphreys. He was the institute teacher who inspired this whole chaplain road in the first place.
Corey's mom, Kathy, and I pinned on the butter bars.
Corey's brother, Dallen, well actually Staff Sergeant Holmgren of the Air Force, was his first salute.
"I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; so help me God."

My Weekend
Corey had to do a make-up drill for the National Guard over the weekend and we asked my parents if they would watch Nathan while Corey was doing his thing. Why? So I could paint. They left Friday around 5:00 pm and got home Tuesday around 3:00 pm.
It started with the red accent wall in the living room. There are other red accents around the room. I still need to get some curtains and seriously need something red hanging on the fireplace instead of that drab wreath. I'm concocting some possibilities in my head as we speak.

Then it went to painting the bathroom a tan color. Actually, it's call 'brown bag'. I'm in dyer need of curtains or a valance in here. And some sage green-ish wall stuff.
And lastly, I did Nathan's room. Red and yellow. I still have a valance to put up in here and we need to paint the closet doors white.
These pictures aren't very good. I really need to get a camera with a flash so that I don't have to rely on natural light, or lack there of.
I also started a big family photo/wall art project and ran into some minor complications. Hopefully that will get done soon and then I can post a picture.
