"The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, backgrounds or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before. Everyone can create. You don’t need money, position, or influence in order to create something of substance or beauty. You might say, I am not the creative type. If that is how you feel, think again. Creation is your opportunity in this life….. Start small. Creativity does not require a brush, a pen, or the keys of a piano. Don’t let the voice of critics paralyze you. You will make the World a better place. Improve, beautify, extend, smile, cultivate, develop, create."

Tooth and Helicopter

1st tooth finally cut! 1st tooth finally cut!

Nathan made this helicopter in preschool today. He was playing with it all afternoon. He cut it out himself, paperclip-ed the bottom together, and folded the propellers.

Biggest Loser: Week 3

Previous weight: 153
Current weight: 149

I lost 4 pounds! Totally surprised. I didn't really feel like I had lost anything and I had some not great food including a Chick-fil-A milkshake, fries, and birthday cake at a family party. I also really like peanut butter and can EASILY eat too much. I'm learning a lot about the number of calories in food and it's becoming easier to make healthy choices no matter where I am. I hope to continue the progress and continue to better my nutritional eating plan. I cut back on cardio the last two weeks and have focused primarily on building muscle by lifting weights. I am doing Jamie Eason's program from bodybuilding.com. I am also practicing to substitute a TurboKick class in a couple of weeks because the teacher is going to be out of town. This practicing has been happening at night and I think this was a good shock for my body because I always workout in the morning.

Over the next two weeks, my goals are to continue to clean up my diet and be a little more strict about the food I fuel it with. If I get hungry at night, I need to eat more clean foods, not processed, like vegetables and lean proteins.

Barrette

Today was one of those days. Nora cried for more than an hour not wanting to take a nap. Then I was forced to get her out of her crib to go pick up Nathan from preschool. The little stinker fell asleep in the car before we even got there. And guess who woke up when we got home? And never would go back to sleep even though I tried. Where does she get her stubbornness from? Oh wait...

For Daddy

Corey has specifically asked me to take more pictures and videos of the kids and put them on the blog so he can see them. I guess these days I need a blunt request like that to take the time to blog. No offense to you guys or anything. I'm just feeling very... stretched. Taking the time to blog is not very high up there. But, nevertheless, I do still like to do this and like looking at others, so even though this is mostly for Daddy, you all can see what we've been up to.

Not much. Our days are very routine. They have to be because time is so precious. I try to do the bare minimum while my kids are awake and spend most of my time with them. One good thing about Corey being gone is less laundry. I can do all our laundry for the whole week in two or three nights after the kids have gone to bed. My other main focus has been health/fitness. I mentioned that I'm doing the biggest loser competition at the gym and we have to keep track of calories and write everything down, etc, etc. Well, so these are my days. Feed Nora. Put her back to sleep. Go back to bed for 20 more minutes. Pry eyes open. Roll out of bed. Breakfast food for all. Write down calories. Gym. Write down workout. Snack. Write down calories. Feed Nora. Nora nap. Shower/get ready. Lunch for all. Write down calories. Preschool/play time/Logan trip/friend's house. Snack. Write down calories. Feed Nora. Nora nap. Dinner. Write down calories. Play/FHE/Scripture story. Bathtime. Storytime. Bedtime. Mommy time. All things randomly and intermittently interrupted with motel phone calls and people checking in. (Not actually too bad though right now because things are really slow. Like, getting-a-little-nervous slow.)

There's a guy that's been staying in the motel for awhile that really likes Nathan. He likes to buy Nathan toys and things. Yeah, I think it's a little weird, too. But, he's just trying to be nice and really misses his family at home, so what am I supposed to say? Anyway, recently it's been all about the Hot Wheels. Which is really all we've been playing with.

We've made track...

...after track...
(Yes, that is a very full garbage sitting on top of the cedar chest. That was always Corey's thing. And I haven't quite gotten to picking up on that job yet...)

...after track...
(Quick shout out to my mama. She came up and spent all day Saturday with us and then went to church with us and spent most of Sunday as well. It was great and Nathan loves his Gwamma. And I love having someone to talk to besides random strangers!)

...after track.

Meanwhile, Nora just played... (See pack-n-play in above picture.)

(p.s. Santa brought us a "My First Trampoline" all set up downstairs. It's been a great energy waster.)

(I couldn't get her to look at the camera long enough to take a good picture...)

...and slept.
I frequently find her sleeping like this...shoved in a sort of squirrelly position with her face smashed against the bumper pads. And in the opposite direction I laid her down in.
I totally woke her up by taking this picture and the worst part was that I didn't get a good picture! Poo! Her legs are out like she was sitting up when she fell asleep. So she was literally folded in half. I'm still bummed that I didn't get the picture. Oh, yeah, I guess it wasn't great that I woke her up, either. Oh well.

In other news, Nathan had a fire truck field trip...

...and that was a lot of fun for him. And it was during Nora's nap time and she stayed asleep in her car seat the whole time, so it was even a little enjoyable for Mommy, too.

Loves to all. And if you read this whole thing, I should make you some homemade bread or something.

A couple of things

My cutest friend, Anbre, gave me a special birthday treat. A protein bar with a candle. HaHaHa! How cute is she??

Dinner with Mom K and Dad L and a little birthday treat again.

Look at Nathan! How funny! You can barely see him asleep in the middle there. He was OUT.

New Year

Another year is gone. Crazy. Did I do all that I wanted in 2011? Probably not. Did I make the most of my time each hour/day/week/month? Probably not. So here's to a new year, new goals, new times, new challenges, new triumphs.

Some favorites of 2011 (not in any order)
*had a baby. Love my Nora.
*Nathan started preschool and loves it.
*Corey FINALLY finished all his paperwork and was accepted into the Chaplain Candidate program, a 2 year long process because his recruiter was horrible. It shouldn't have taken even 1 year, or 6 months probably.
*Corey got to attend all 5 sessions of the October General Conference at the Conference Center with all other LDS Chaplains and Chaplain Candidates.
*I taught my one and only TurboKick class. Hopefully someday I'll get to make this a weekly occurrence.
*Our basement got finished and this added space to our house has made SUCH a difference in many aspects.
*Corey transferred schools and this was a very good move.
*Nathan got potty trained.
*We sold the motorcycle. Sad. But good.
*I got released as the primary secretary and put in as the pianist.
*Corey got certified to teach R.I.P.P.E.D. He'll be such a good teacher. Hopefully he can get a spot when he gets back this spring.

Hopefully 2012 will be just as great. I'm already looking forward to April when Corey will come home. I've never been one to write down goals, and even if I do I don't remember where I wrote them down and still forget what my resolutions were. So this year, for all to see, are my goals.
1. Loose 13 more pounds to get to goal weight of 140. I am starting the biggest loser competition at the gym and hope to have this goal accomplished by the end of the competition in April.
2. Read a chapter from the Book of Mormon Stories for kids to Nathan every night after dinner. When finished, start over at the beginning again.
3. Play my flute at least once a week so when/if someone asks me to play in sacrament meeting again, I will not be as rusty.
4. Get 1 more piano student.
5. Keep up with weekly Book of Mormon reading for Sunday School, even though I don't go.
6. Finish those 'finishing touches' that are still undone in the basement. This includes but is not limited to door knobs on doors and closets, window sills, base boards and trim up in Nathan's room, things on the walls.
7. Run some races. 5ks? 10k? Half marathon? Still deciding.
8. Attend the temple once a month. We used to be so good. I want to get back to that.

New Year's Eve pictures:
My family came up to hang out and we had a never ending Phase 10 game. It got intense. And exhausting. And we celebrated birthdays. And we got a new camera! YAY!!
