Kara likes to have conversations with anyone, anything, anytime. She is a very well-spoken child, if I may brag a little. The other day we were driving past a field of cows, and she proceeded to have a conversation with them that went something like this:
"oh hello cows. How are you today? Good? Ok. I'm ok too. What are you doing? I'm just sitting here. Are you a mommy? Where's your daddy? Is that your baby? Where is his daddy? Have a good day cows!"
Just to get a clearer picture of how this went down, she saw the cows and started the conversation. And since we were on the freeway going 80 mph, by the time she finished with "how are you today" we had passed the cows. So the conversation just kind of kept on going. It was pretty hilarious.
Today she had a conversation with a bug. Which is weird because she doesn't like bugs and usually kills any that she sees. Lately whenever she is about to kill a bug I tell her not to because the bug is going home to see his mommy. That's really had an impact on her, and she's started killing less bugs. Anyway, so the conversation with the bug (microscopic... how she ever saw the thing is beyond me) went something like this:
"hello bug. are you going home to mommy? do I look nice today? I am a princess. You are not ugly, because ugly is mean. You are pretty. I am beautiful. I am a beautiful princess. Do you miss your mommy and daddy? Ok. Go home bug. Go home now. Bye."
I'm starting to wonder if maybe she needs more friends...

To-Die-For Brownies
I was watching the news today and the resident chef made these gluten-free brownies. They looked really good, but are definitely not fat-free. If anyone wants to make them and tell me if they really are good, that would be great...

Reason #685 of Why I Love Sophie
Please don't misunderstand this title. I equally love both of my girls, and neither one of them could ever do anything to make me love them less. With that being said, there is something about getting up in the wee hours of the morning with your sweet little baby, hungry but still in that sweet sleep-stage. Sophie sleeps great at night and will wake up every now and then during the night but is usually quick to put herself back to sleep. I guess this morning her tummy growlings got the best of her and she wouldn't go back to sleep. So when she started talking to herself at 4 I went in to get her. I picked her up out of the crib and she immediately turned back around and said "daw" (which is Sophie-slang for dog). I grabbed her favorite little stuffed animal and gave it to her and she immediately giggled, grabbed him, hugged him, and gave him lots of slobbery kisses. I don't know what it is about this dog, but Sophie absolutely loves him. So much so that "dog" was her real first word. She giggles every time she sees him, as if she hasn't seen him in years. It's the cutest thing. Anyway. So we walk into the kitchen to make her a bottle and as soon as I turn on the water she starts kicking and gets excited. Just like she does every time I turn on the water and she knows it's on for her. If she can just stay this easy to please I think life with Sophie will make up for what Kara is putting me through now.

If laughing keeps a person young, then I'm about 15
Kara asked me today if she could watch "Odead"... what? "Kara", I asked, "what is Odead?" "Augh, mom" (rolling her eyes at my apparent feeblemindedness) "you know, ODEAD". As if saying it louder would help me understand. "Kara, will you show me what you want to watch?" So she opens the DVD drawer and points to Barbie Swan Lake. The light bulb switches on. "Oh, you mean Odette". "No, Odead". "ODETTE". "NO, ODEAD". I quickly gave up, remembering that it's pretty pointless arguing with a 3 year-old.

Half Tees
Half Tees - half the shirt * all the style - Home
I found out about these shirts via a giveaway on another blog, but I am seriously going to try these out. I have been getting so annoyed with always having to pull down my long t-shirt, but need something to wear under all my low-cut shirts. I am definitely going to try these out!
Here is a link to the giveaway in case you want to enter:

Spring? Nope, Not Here!
I wish I would have taken a picture early this morning, because while I generally LOATHE cold weather, I do appreciate its beauty, and it was certainly beautiful this morning. However, I still LOATHE the cold, especially the snow, and I'm incredibly unhappy with the weatherman. I woke up this morning at about midnight thinking, "goodness it's awfully quiet in this house" and "my it sure is dark in my room". Then I realized, "crap, the power went out". Both of the girls have noise machines in their rooms, and Kara has not 1 but 2 nightlights because of her sudden and random fear of the dark. Anyway. So I figured it would come back on soon enough. Nope! 4 hours later it finally came on. I was just getting ready to bring both girls into our bed because it was F-R-E-E-Z-I-N-G in the house when everything powered back up. Thank goodness. And then this morning this is what we woke up to:
8 inches of snow in our backyard. Bummer.
Moving on.
I am usually against dressing the girls in matching clothes... er, actually, I was until I had 2 girls. I haven't done it yet, but my mom sent up some Easter dresses, and they were matching, and it was super cute!
Don't you love my ghetto sheet?
Ouch! Look at those splits!
My little model
And finally:
Last night was the NCAA Championship Game (shout out to DUKE!!!!) and while it was on, Evens was also playing with the girls. I guess you know when you've become a father because sports come second to playing with the kids, right?
Seriously, Sophie is such a cheeser! She sees a camera and she is instantly ready with a big grin!
Oh, and one more thing. It took 10 long months, but Sophie is FINALLY crawling! Another shout out to my cousin Greg who magically got her to start crawling on her 10 month anniversary! THANK YOU GREG! She seems to be adjusting well to the idea that she no longer needs to sit and cry and cry and cry and cry until someone picks her up and moves her. Honestly, I adjusted immediately!
