Keeping Up With The Turner's

I've been sleep training Zoe for the last 5 days and I'm so happy to say that it is really working. She is a much happier baby because she is now able to fall asleep on her own instead of needing to be soothed for hours and hours. It got to the point where I was spending 4 hours trying to put her to sleep at night. All the rocking and bouncing just stopped working and she was tired and we were tired. The first 2 days were extremely hard. I was a total wreck crying when Zoe was crying. I was glued to the baby monitor and sat and took notes on what she was doing in her crib to write down exactly at what time the crying started and stopped. She went from sleeping less than 12 hours and crying for over 3 hours to sleeping over 14 hours and crying for 50 minutes. That's the total amount of sleep and total amount of crying she did for a whole 24 hour day. That means she's a much happier baby during her wakeful time.

Zoe was intrigued by Elmo when I put Sesame Street on for her. She also really likes Classical Baby 2 and gets happy when Singing in the Rain comes on.

Zoe really likes sitting in her Bumbo. She really has been working hard trying to get her thumb but no luck yet.

Zoe still doesn't like tummy time all that much but seems to tolerate it a bit better. She can push herself up with her arms but I guess it is really tiring because she doesn't stay in that position too long.

Zoe loves bath time. She now tolerates being dried off and sometimes we can even make it through putting on clothes before she starts to cry. She was interested in the rubber ducky when we took this picture but now she doesn't seem to be all that interested in it. I guess I better go get some more bath toys for her.

Zoe likes to snuggle against a soft blanket to help her fall asleep.

This is where Zoe hangs out when I'm working in the kitchen or when we eat dinner. She likes to sit up high and look around.

Zoe thinks Daddy is funny or maybe she thinks he is funny looking? Haha! She was giving Calvin a big smile when he came home from work.

Zoe loves to hang out on her changing table. She'll cry in her crib but as soon as you put her on the changing table, she'll stop crying. She really likes diaper changes too.

I took this picture of how Zoe looked while my sister was holding her. She can breathe just fine.

Here's Zoe taking a nap on my sister. She just loves to bury her head. My sister was nervous that Zoe couldn't breathe.

Zoe loves to put her hands in her mouth. She hasn't quite figured out how to get her thumb in her mouth. She uses her left hand to hold up her right hand to her mouth and likes to suck on her fingers. A few times she put four fingers in her mouth and made herself gag. She'll be one happy baby when she figures out how to suck on her thumb.

My mom brought Zoe a traditional Korean dress and hat for her first birthday. The first birthday's are really big in Korean tradition and the babies get dressed up in a dress called the hanbok. The hat is pretty big but hopefully by her first birthday she can fill it out.

My mom always thinks Zoe is cold. She has Zoe all bundled up in a blanket again. It was not cold in the house.

Zoe likes to hide her face while she takes her naps.

Zoe loves watching TV. My friend Angi thought of a great way for her to strengthen her neck and watch TV.

Zoe doesn't like being in her car seat as much as she used to. Right after I took this picture she became unhappy and cried for about 20 minutes in the car until she fell asleep from being exhausted. I thought the car was supposed to put babies to sleep?

Zoe met Sharon Emo (Aunt) for the first time. Zoe really misses taking naps on Emo.

Calvin is getting better and better at taking care of Zoe. He knows how to hold her and bounce up and down to console her when she is crying. In return, Zoe gives him lots of smiles and laughs silently. She hasn't quite figured out how to laugh but she will sometimes shriek when she gets excited.

We had a great time at the Gaylord Texan on New Years Eve. We ate, drank and danced but we really missed Zoe. We were looking at pictures of her on our cell phones and camera because we missed her so much.
