We have been so lucky to be able to celebrate Christmas in Utah with family most every year since we moved away. We celebrate Christmas early at our home and then Santa fills just the stockings in Utah. Our kids love getting to celebrate Christmas three times each year (once at home and then twice at each grandparents home). Carl goes to ski and visit family with the leftover time. I go to see family and then ski with the leftover time. We love being able to play in the snow and enjoy the mountains (I think if we still lived in Utah, the cold and snow would get old, but where my kids don't see it often, it's a great treat!)

"Family" trip to Disneyworld
I hate crowds and so this summer we planned to take a vacation to Disneyworld the first week of December. We have done this in the past with our older children (Mitch and Jason missed three and two times each respectively during their elementary years to go to Disneyworld). However, this year we were informed that if we carried out our plans we would have to go to Truancy Court and be fined up to $500. We left Mitch and Jason (our 2 oldest boys) with a great friend so they could go to school and we took just our youngest three. Sadly it caught up to us and we now have to go to court on Feb. 23rd and our fine is up to $500. I am disappointed because I strongly feel that parents should have some say in their child's education. I know my children and I know they can make up a week of elementary work; I can work with them at home to teach them what they may have missed.
