Birthday Girl

My little girl is now 8 years old! Today we had a pool party birthday. I think I'm as wiped out as the kids!

Here she is with her cake.

Playing a game of Hullabaloo

The whole group of kiddos!

Then we went out to eat at Red Robin, and of course she loves the attention when they sing to her. One of the waiters asked her to give a speech. I told him he had no idea who he was talking to! ;)

Then home to open presents from the family.

All in a celebration day.

BasketBall Boy

Shortly after school started, M asked if he could join basketball. This is the first time he's ever really taken any initiative in any type of group activity.

He signed up, went to all the practices and tonight we had the Skill-A-Ree. Instead of a competition and game, they focused on showing off the skills they had learned with the other schools.

Here are some pictures and videos of the evening!

Waiting for Defensive Drills

The goal was to make the dribbler's job "hard"

Layup Drills

This is the thing!!

First day of school

I really don't know who was more excited this morning. The kids to head back to school - or the stay-at-home husband who is ready for some quiet time during the day.

Two kids very excited to head to school!

4th grade & 2nd grade

He was SO very excited. He's excited that he can be on Safety Patrol this year - so hopefully they'll send out the information on it soon!

Ok, I had to take this pic - don't you love the saddle shoes??

SO excited to be in 2nd grade!

I love that my kids love going to school and love learning and are excited about it all! I can't wait to hear how the first day goes!

9 years old already?

Ahhhh, I love my sweet little boy. Who is not quite so little anymore! He had his 9th birthday and we celebrated with just family around this year. The neighbor boys also came over for cake and ice cream. Here he is with his requested ice cream train cake and surrounded by balloons from Grandma and Grandpa J and his presents!

What do you think he wished for?

Star Wars?

An RC robot?

Or a Nerf Gun?

Beating the Heat

Well, we had some more 90-degree weather in August, so the kids had to find ways to beat the heat. They had dug this huge hole earlier in the year - and they decided to fill it up with water and make their own pool.

They had fun, I think!

Fourth of July

The kids were at their dad's over the holiday weekend, so Rob and I headed out to the coast again to enjoy the extended sturgeon season.

We took out their friend's boat.

And I caught a fish. It fought like the dickens, but was a smidgen too small so we had to toss it back.

Rob caught one too!

Dad was there to net them in. After he caught HIS keeper - of course!

Ft. Stevens off in the distance.

After a day of fishing, Rob and I headed out to some nearby docks and tossed off some crab rings to hopefully get some good sized crab. While we waited for them to come and eat our bait, between checking pots, we had fun playing with all the small marine life. It's amazing what lives in the little algea that sticks to the docks!

We did get a few good crab. Rob couldn't wait!

Mmmmmm, dinner!

GET IN MY BELLY!

That night we headed down with the old folks to the beach to build a bon fire and shoot off fireworks. It was amazing how many people there were!
We put the old folks to work collecting driftwood.

We like things that go boom and are perty!

Sunsetting over the Pacific Ocean with the glow of fireworks all over the beach.

I made the old folks do a sparkler picture. This is their version of "big circles" :D
We had a GREAT time! A fun, exciting AND relaxing weekend!
