Oh Wait!!!!

I forgot to mention the best Christmas gift of all. Boston no longer takes Binky's, Paci's, Pacifiers whatever you want to call them. The last time he sucked on one of those was Christmas Eve. It was a little rocky at first. He was quite whiny. But everything is smooth sailing now. I was a little nervous for church on Sunday, but he did GREAT! Yay for us. Too bad for Boston. He loved his Binky's

Christmas 2008

It is usually hard for me to get into the Christmas Spirit. Mainly because our lives are so busy that I don't usually have time to focus on the hustle and bustle of Christmas, but another reason is because Ian and I don't spend money without discussing it with each other first (which isn't a bad thing) so there is little room for surprises when it comes to purchasing Christmas gifts. I'm not one who likes to be surprised, I have to know what all the gifts are under the tree, but I do like to surprise Ian. I wanted to surprise him with a Playstation 3 and a flat screen TV this year, but I can't make a purchase that big without discussing it with him first. We went over our Christmas budget and decided that the amount of the Playstation 3 would be enough spending for big purchase items. Of course we had to spend a little more money on clothes and toys for Boston.
Boston is still a little too young to get all hyped up about Christmas. It's good for us, because it saves us a lot of money, but it makes it easier for us to not care so much about Christmas. I was tempted to not wrap any presents, and I just about didn't care to wait until Christmas Day to use them, but I realized that I still need to set and keep the tradition of Christmas in our home so it will be something Boston is used to when he gets a little older and starts to care a little more about Christmas. The sad thing is though, Boston didn't get to sit on Santa's lap this year! Hopefully we can get around to that next year.

My favorite part about the Holiday Season is just spending time with family. A few years back, my mom started her Christmas Tradition of having the family gather at her home on Christmas Eve to play some Christmas games, like BINGO and the Left/Right Game, and to enjoy a Christmas Dinner of Ham, Scalloped Potatoes (which are to die for), Rolls, Salad, and usually a dessert that no one eats beacuse their bellies are full from the delicious dinner and all of the Christmas snacks that they ate while dinner was still cooking. We have a great time together as a family. We miss the family members that live out of town that aren't able to take part in these festivities with us, we always hope for them to be with us next year.
Here is Boston taking a peek into his Stocking to see what Santa brought him. On top was two sippy cups, that he was a little more excited for than I had expected. I thought he would have been thrilled about his toy laptop, but he was more interested in pulling everything out of his stocking first. Stocking Stuffers included: Sippy Cups, Curious George Bubble Bath, Shampoo, Bath Toy, and a Curious George Movie. Santa brought him a toy laptop because he always likes to play on mom and dad's computer and now he has his own.I think he is quite happy with the new toy!

After he pulled everything out of his stocking it was time to hurry and open up the presents. We were on a time crunch because we had to be at Grandma's for a delicious breakfast of Biscuits & Gravy at 9:00 but the presents just seem to keep coming and coming. He did very well opening up his presents all on his own. Bostons list of gifts included: Three new church shirts, two new church pants, one pair of church shoes, three new pairs of jeans, a sweat suit, a new polo shirt, and a toy camera. Yep, mainly clothes and only two new toys for Christmas. Are we the meanest parents or what? Hey if you saw the bucket of toys Boston inherited from his cousin Kash, then you would have done the same.
Then it was off to Grandma & Grandpa Williams for breakfast and MORE presents. Grandma & Grandpa sure do know how to spoil thier kids and grandkids. Boston did get lots more toys and books from Grandma & Grandpa. They can always give the fun gifts and mom and dad can always give the boring gifts. I bought Ian and Boston semi-matching polo shirts from Old Navy. Don't they look cute. Here we are with smiles on our faces! We had a wonderful Christmas. Boston doesn't look too happy, but he never is when he has to leave Grandma's.

Can He Do It???

The Amazing, Magnificent, Wonderful Boston is going to attempt to squeeze his body inside this tiny little cupboard.
Can He Do It?

He is way excited to give it a try!

I'm not so sure he is going to make it. The cupboard looks a little tight and his body looks a little too long.

TA DA! The Amazing, Magnificent, Wonderful Boston stuns us once again!

Disclaimer: Boston had no assistance at all while performing this act.

When can Boston come visit?

The package is ready to be sealed and shipped. All you need to do is save the money and select a date, and he will be on his way!

Next Day Air is the only way to ship this fragile package.

Cousin Kash $60.66
Buddy Jacob $180.49 (It may be cheaper than a plane ticket)

Another Charlie Brown Christmas Tree

Before Ian and I got married, we started a family tradition to go and "hunt" for our Christmas tree. Living in the desert of Southern Utah leaves only slim pickins for the best Christmas tree. Living in a 1000 square foot house doesn't make the situation any easier when it comes to deciding the perfect tree. It is usually the week after Thanksgiving that the trucks get loaded and we are off on the hunt for the perfect tree, along with Ian's two brothers and their families. Some years we have had the aid of four wheelers, but most likely we search and search for the perfect tree on foot. Which means we often find the tree closest to the road because that means we don't have to haul it too far back to the truck.

This is the fifth Christmas we have been able to do it as a married couple, with last year being the only year so far that we didn't get a chance to "hunt." This year was the first year Boston got to join in on the fun, and he seemed to enjoy it quite well.Ian spotted this tree from the road as we were driving into the area where we were going to "hunt." We kept it in our minds to chop down if we couldn't find anything better, but this was our best choice this year. As I said before, living in the desert doesn't help much when trying to find the perfect Christmas tree.
The trees always look better when they are in their own element. However, once it is chopped down and then set up in our living room, we often question our own judgment on whether or not we really found the "best" Christmas tree.
Christmas isn't about the perfect Christmas tree. Or the perfect presents. It is about family memories. And we have created memories that will last a lifetime going on our Christmas tree "hunts" and it is something we look forward to doing each year.

Here are a couple of our other Charlie Brown Christmas Trees that we have had through the years.

Cruisin for a Bruisin

The other day, Boston bumped his head right on the corner of the coffee table at my sister-in-law's house. It goose-egged up right away! Poor boy. She said he screamed and cried for a little bit, but then toughened right up and went to sleep. These pictures don't do it justice. Thanks for being a tough guy Boston Boy! We love you lots!

And all the wonderful things to see there.

A day at the park

A couple of weekends ago, we went to a park where a fundraiser was being held for a family of a local girl and son who had died in car accident recently. This girl was a good friend of my sisters when they were in high school, so she helped in getting this fundraiser going. They earned a good amount of cash, and it is amazing how a community comes together to help out a family in need. I was grateful for the little I was able to donate, and also to take advantage of the fun bounce houses and slides my son was able to play in. Here are just a few pictures of him enjoying his day at the park.

This is Boston and I going down a giant slide. (Sorry the picture is so dark)You can tell by the look on his face that he really enjoyed this slide. Not afraid of heights at all!

With all of the new parks that include splash pads, you would think that Boston would like them by now. But not quite yet. Here he is just looking in awe at the splash pad, and I am sure thinking, "I hope I don't have to go in there!" Boston does things when he feels ready and comfortable, and this was as close to comfort that he got with the splah pad. (And is the same with all splash pads.)He just likes to stand at the edge of the pad and splash. He will be the type (just like his momma) who slowly gets in the pool one step at a time-and only if the water is just the right temperature, instead of jumping in right off the bat! But as long as he his happy that is all that matters. And just look at the joy on his face!

And sometimes it doesn't take bounce houses, giant slides, and a fun filled splash pad to keep him entertained. All we need is our $11 stroller and he is like a kid in Disneyland! If this keeps up then he will definitely save us money from having to buy fancy toys or even vacations to Disneyland. :)

Boston's Lucky Day!

Last Thursday Ian went down to Las Vegas to attend Interbike (an international bike show for all the bike dealers to show off What's New for 2009). Ian gets to go every year, and he really enjoys getting the free swag! So with Ian headed to Vegas and me working all day, Boston got to spend ALL day with his cousins Gavin and Dallin. It seems that all the boys have a great time together. And, Aunt April is a brave woman and took all the boys to the park along with her four year old niece! Yeah, Kudos to April for taking on such an adventure. She said that everyone enjoyed the park and had a great time, and it was a fight to get them back home because the boys didn't want to leave. When she got back home, she ordered Pizza and had a little Pizza Party! Boston decided that pizza was better than the Mac & Cheese that dad had packed for him. Boston could eat pizza everyday of the week, if we would let him, and so I am sure he was happy to chow down on the food.

When I got off of work, I picked Boston up and he went to play with is other cousin Kash. Boston sure does love his cousins, and it is great to have family in town for the boys to play. Boston played with Kash for a little bit, before we headed home to eat dinner and get bathed and go to bed. But the best part about being home was that Boston got to have his very own Popsicle for dessert.

No more lickin' off mom's Popsicle. His very own to hold and eat!

As you can see he was pretty happy with this idea.

But then......
Mom had the crazy idea of giving him two and he was just ecstatic!

This day sure was a great day for Boston Boy. Thanks to all those who help create great memories for Boston that he may cherish for a lifetime! Love you all!

Look at that Shiner!

Boston has turned into a very daring and carefree little man. He just goes goes goes, and doesn't pay a whole lot of attention to what is around him. Because of this, there have been many falls and bruises lately. And it is now official that Boston has had his first black eye.
Yesterday, while visiting my mom, he fell and hit is head on her coffee table. I thought he had just hit his forehead, but quickly realized it was the corner of his eye when it started to bleed a little bit. Fortnuately, the table was a rounded table, so there was no need for emergency care, but now Boston has quite the bruise around his eye. (It was difficult trying to get pictures of him, because he is constantly on the go!) I bought him a cute outfit at Costco for him to wear to church. Hopefully, this will take the focus off of his eye. He is such a handsome little man. I am sad everytime he falls and gets hurt. Those cries are the worst cries for a mama to listen to. Fortunately, he is resilient and bounces back after only a few minutes.
