Play!

Imagination is a great thing. Penelope has played with this box for over a week now and it has taken permanent residence in our living room. She carries her toys in there and sits in the corner and lies down inside with her lamby. It has inumerable uses. She loves it. She really thinks it is great when mommy gets inside with her and we close the box and daddy comes to find us. Great Fun! She has also developed a fascination for mommy's clothing as you can see in the video. She usually just drapes the shirt or socks or whatever around her neck, but this day she wanted me to put it on her. She wore this shirt all day long. She took naps in it and everything. Too cute.

6 Interesting Things About Myself. . .

I've been tagged by Melinda.

1. I am a native Texan. I was born in Dallas, Tx, and when I was about 6 months old my family moved to Blackfoot, ID. Now, when I see "Native Texan" signs I can say, "hey, I'm a native Texan", even though I have only lived in Texas a total of 4 years now.
2. My belly button is off center. I discovered this when I was in physical therapy school. During labs we would have to strip down to sports bra and shorts so we could get used to examining bodies and when we were doing a lab on landmarks one of my classmates noticed my bellybutton is an inch or two off to the right.
3. I can't stand it when people, (aka. Aaron) leave cabinets open. It doesn't happen as often as it use to, but I still find that I get a little irritated if a cabinet door is ajar and I have to go shut it.
4. My clothes in my closet are organized by color. Aaron teased me when I first did this, but now his closet is organized the same way.
5. I have been to 10 different countries and to almost every state in the US.
6. I love to backpack and hike. I could do it every weekend and never get bored of it. I would love to go to Europe and just backpack around or go to Peru and backpack the Inca trail. I would also love to go back to the Wind Rivers since we never made it to Temple peak. (Bear!)

I tag Tiffany.

Thanksgiving in Wyoming

Penelope and I spent Thanksgiving at my parent's house in Wyoming. My Mom really wanted a new family picture, since there were three additions in the past year, so everyone came, except Aaron. (He had to work, of course.) There were 35 of us. 17 grandchildren, and Penelope is not even the youngest. There are 2 that are younger than her. It was a lot of fun but it was also very noisy and busy.

One of my sisters bought a pinata and the kids had a lot of fun breaking it. Penelope thought it was great fun, until it fell to the ground and then she started crying. She just couldn't believe that anyone would be that mean to such a cute animal. (When the pinata was in the house, waiting for it's fate, Penelope would walk by and growl at it and then giggle.)

Penelope really missed her Daddy while we were gone, but she found substitutes. She really loved her uncle John (in the picture), uncle Morgan and Grandpa.

It was a very nice trip, but we are glad to be home. Oh we had a chance to see Christa and Bianca while we were in Salt Lake. I wanted to see Carey too, but I didn't want to make her feel obligated to come and see me, especially since baby is coming soon. Anyway, I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Happy Halloween

We sure had fun dressing Penelope up for Halloween. She really liked it too. I thought for sure that she would pull at the costume, but she loved having it on. We went to the ward trunk or treat and she did well and loved seeing the other little kids, but a grown up in a pirate costume was too much for her and we went home shortly thereafter. Earlier in the day we went to show her off at my work and she was just too cute. We hope you all had a great Halloween.

Our Little Diva

My sister Penny sent this vest for Penelope's birthday and said in the card that every girl has to have a "Diva outfit." Too cute!

Jeans

A friend of mine has a little girl that is about 6 months older than Penelope, so when she outgrows her clothes they get passed on to us. We just got these cute little jeans and I just had to get a picture.

Penelope

Since Penelope is what fills my days, that is what I have to write about. And there couldn't be a better subject.
She is getting smarter every day. As you can see in the picture, she found out that she is just small enough to fit in the space behind the couch and can successfully navigate her way to the window. She also has started to answer me when I ask her a question. For instance, if I say "Are you hungry?" She will answer "dyeah," for yes. If the answer is no, she will just pretend I am not there and continue whatever activity she was pursuing at the time that I so rudely interrupted her.
Penelope has also discovered the mural that Aaron painted on her walls. Her favorite area is the African area. Every morning she will point to the wall and I have to say, "elephant, baby elephant, giraffe, tree." The other day Aaron asked her where the elephant was and she pointed to the wall. So fun.
We have started going to story time at the library and Penelope seems to really enjoy it. She will sit and listen to the books, but the real entertainment is the other kids that are there. She loves little kids. We have also started going to the mall once a week where they have a little soft play area. Once again, most of Penelope's excitement is because there are other children there, but she does enjoy the toys too.

Sadie

Sadie is the runt dog I found at the Rio Grande at work one day. She was about dead and I was able to get close enough to catch her. I gave her water and food and took her to the vet. The vet said she is a mix between a wiener dog and a black lab, the best he could tell.

She catches birds and chews on anything and everything valuable in the yard. We planted a garden and a flower bed and two trees and she has destroyed it all, "Que Lastima" (so sad).

I went dove hunting last Saturday and decided to take Sadie along. She did good. She was quiet and stayed near the whole time. She retrieved four out of the six birds I shot and loved the blood and hearts we gave her at the end.

Highchair walking

As I was making dinner one night, I turned around to see Penelope pushing her highchair around. She walks all over the house behind the highchair, but if she runs into something and gets stuck, she starts yelling until we come to the rescue.

"Dusting"

Penelope loves to play with the clean laundry. Most of the time she just stays near me, where there is a continuous supply of neatly folded clothing that needs to be unfolded. This time, however, she grabbed a rag, crawled into the front room and dusted the armoir for about 5 minutes. Too cute!

Check it out

We have the cutest baby ever! Of course, we may be a little biased. Penelope is taking steps now and will soon be walking everywhere.
