Garth Brooks in Birmingham Alabama

Ben and I took a little road trip to Birmingham Alabama to see Garth Brooks in concert. We had a silly drive down to Alabama...we prank called people and laughed really hard telling silly jokes and hearing the confusion of our friends on the other line. We stayed in downtown Birmingham at the Courtyard. We took a taxi to the concert. The concert was amazing. I have always wanted to see Garth in concert. I almost bought tickets several times when he did 7 sold out shows in KC...but I never bought the tickets...always regretted that decision. Trisha Yearwood also sang a few songs, but Garth did most of the performing and he works hard and sounded great! I sang along to all the songs and danced and just smiled the entire time.

We walked home from the concert...it was a nice night, but my boots were not very happy about the walk home...I was very glad to finally make it to the hotel.

The next day we slept in, went to brunch at Sweet Tea and then we did a few tourist activities in Birmingham. We went to Vulcan...a giant iron statue that stands above Birmingham and there is a park and a small museum...where we learned about the history of Birmingham...an industrial city and about the giant iron man Vulcan.

We also went to the Sloss Furnaces. This place was really cool (actually really hot) and free. We walked around, jumped on a tour and learned about the furnaces that made iron. There were a lot of great photo opportunities and they hold weddings there, which I wouldn't suggest in June in Alabama! (Hot and humid)

We drove home Saturday afternoon...Lydia had a fever and was not feeling well and Kathryn and I went out to dinner. Kathryn came into town to watch the girls and the dogs while we went on our weekend trip. It was great to have her here and the girls had so much fun!

Tea Party

Lydia convinced me to buy her a new tea set that we could use at parties. So we went to Goodwill and found a nice teapot and cups and saucers that would do the job! We even had to buy tea party dresses for the occasion. We invited our friend Annabelle over for lemonade. It was a lovely party.

Preschool Graduation

Lydia graduated from preschool in May. It was fun to be her preschool teacher for one year and watch her in pre-K for the other year. She loves to learn, create art and she told her teacher that she wants to be a teacher when she grows up...my heart almost burst! She is ready for Kindergarten and excited to go to Elementary school.

Clarksville, Tennessee

We are spending our summer in Clarksville, Tennessee. Ben has been working here since October. In March, we decided that if Ben was not coming home, then we were going to go live with him. We have been here almost a week. So far, we are adjusting to the house, neighborhood and city. The girls love playing outside with the neighbor kids and the dogs are having fun running around. Lydia learned with confidence how to ride her bicycle without training wheels. Avery loves to drive her tricycle all over the cul-de-sac. Ben loves coming home to his family after work. We are looking forward to a fun summer.

This is the house we are living in...because I am sure everyone is dying to see it.
