When did the 90's become cool?

So the unthinkable happened this week. I actually turned to Shawn and said "great, it will only be in the 90's today!" THE 90'S? When did that become great? I remember living in San Francisco and thinking 65 degrees was pushing it on the hot meter for me.

Before you give me the cliche answers; "you know people become acclimated to the weather their in", "you've lived here 8 years and this isn't our hottest summer," "you are really becoming a North Carolinian," (I'm sure most of my naive NC friends are saying 'oh no she is not'). I just want to say that it is impossible for me to believe that I could possibly think that 90's is OK. Just today I am sure I saw Mr. Tibbs (our border collie) trying to tip toe on the hot cement.

Where is the weeping I once did when I turned on the WRAL news and heard Elizabeth describe the raging heat? Where is the begging to move back to the foggy city I once loved? It's like a remake of the Body Snatchers.

I can't even blame it on the a/c because I have actually found myself sitting on my screened porch enjoying the slight breeze that blows and looking at my thermometer reading 95 in the shade and being happy. Happy? How can that be, where is the Cathy we all know and love?

Next month I am going to be in San Francisco and someone actually suggested I take some warm clothes. It is unbelievable to me that I might end up owning my first San Francisco sweatshirt like a tourist who thought CA was warm in the summer.

Oh foggy, foggy nights, I promise to always love you even if I have to break down and wear a coat.

Time to Blog

Today was an exciting day for me as I went to my first TAF ( Triangle Area Freelancers)conference and am just so fired up that I must, yes I must write. However, I have absolutely nothing to write about and am shocked that I haven't written in my blog since 2010. What's up with that?

Every speaker that spoke gave me an new idea. Oh, yes, I will write on that (wait, they already did), that's it, that is what I want to write on, wait a minute, isn't that their idea? At one point I got so excited about something one of the attendees was writing about that she took out a pencil and started taking notes of me talking about what she is going to write about.

The juices were flowing. Now however, all I got is the salty taste on one too many pistachios on my lips and that dusty feeling in your mouth from the shells.

So, until another idea pops into this curly hair head, I will have to wait. However, feel free to ck in once and a while and see if any idea has come along. Hopefully they won't be yours.

Nighty, night.

Tiara wearing day

What a great Birthday! Shawn and I had a great breakfast at home. Then off to the driving range with my tiara on of course. But on the way we stopped at my work to pick up something and they had bought me a giant cookie and sang Happy Birthday over the loud speaker (that's what happens when a store is closing, it's hard to stay overly professional if you have no idea if you will be employed in two weeks).

Shawn and I did a large bucket of balls and ate bacon cheeseburgers at the golf course. The we checked out some golf stores, used a gift certificate given to me for my birthday at Starbucks (be sure to let them know that if you want a "hot" latte to specify because they always make ice in the summer even if you didn't ask for it.)

We did some shopping at Aldi's, ate at home and watched NCIS.

Thanks to everyone who sent me greetings on line, called me, and sent me cards. You are all the best! I am blessed everyday by God through all of you.
