Ing Ohana

we went to the airport twice that day. in the morning we flew in from tahoe and then we drove back up to see dustin return from his mission in guatemala. he's still the same funny dustin but a skinnier version. we're so glad he's back!

after my triathlon, i flew out to lake tahoe where dane & the kids were already having fun with all the ings. we ate a lot of really good food. i think we ate dessert every night. we went on the boat ride again, played games at the arcade, went swimming at the pool, got massages...it was such a great vacation. it went by way too fast.

so my bday was last friday. it was a great birthday. our neighborhood girls have a park city night every year and this year it fell on my birthday. dane encouraged me to go. around 11 am sachi & nani came to watch the kids and i left with the girls. we got pedicures, went to lunch at chili's, shopping at the outlets, and dinner w/ cake and ice cream. that night we went to a 'strange' house to stay. last year our house was super nice, this year it was a little scary but i guess it will be a year we never forget!



around noon on saturday dane left the kids with my parents and drove up to park city. we did more shopping (i told him i don't want to shop for a long while), had dinner at biaggi's (yum!) and arrived to our house for a surprise party dane had planned with the families. keith & jess were able to come by for a little too.



it was a tiring weekend for dane. he cleaned the house, weeded, ran errands with the kids, arranged the party-- he did a great job.



on monday i went to lunch at cafe rio with sunny & amy. we had a lot of fun trying to fit the kids around those small tables. while we were arranging and rearranging the seating, jasmine decided to drink the salad dressing and got it all over her. we got her all cleaned up nice. it was a lot of fun. it has been awhile since we've seen sunny & jasmine.

bray has LOVED sucking his thumb since he was little. i was determined to not have a baby that liked pacifiers and so i didn't let him have any. he learned to soothe himself with his thumb. he was such a great sleeper, i couldn't really hate the thumb sucking. sleep meant more to me. after reading megan's idea with gaby i decided to try it with bray too. i told bray if he could stop sucking his thumb he could go to the driving range & lunch at mcdonald's with daddy. no ani. he didn't quit the first day but slowly he really started to catch himself. i usual cut both the kid's fingernails at the same time and in taiwan i realized bray's was always short. i took a closer look and realized he was biting them. at the same time i realized i hadn't seen him suck his thumb in a really long time. so... he has quit sucking his thumb. HOORAY! cause with the thumb sucking he would also stick the other hand down his pants. it was a bad habit that went with the thumb sucking. now he gets his day with daddy and we are slowly working on the nail biting.

This is the second year Dane has played Coed volleyball at the Lehi Legacy Center. Last year they came in second or third. This year they came in 1st. The kids love going to watch the games. They had their final game last night and ended up having to play with only four. They really stepped up their game. It was a fun one to watch.

We didn't feel that traveling with kids was hard until we got home. It's was a lot easier getting them use to Taiwan time. After six nights of no sleep, dane & i were ready to move to Taiwan. Ani has had the hardest time. She would wake up around 2 am and would fall asleep around 5 or 6 am. Then Bray would be waking up for the day. It didn't matter if I kept them up all day with no sleep. She would be up all night. It's been almost two weeks since we've been home and bray is back to normal and ani is almost there. It's been tiring.

Our good friend Koa (ani calls him koko) went into the MTC this past week. So we've been busy with endowment session at the temple, farewell, farewell lunch, setting apart, traditional FHE, and MTC. It's nice to spend time with everyone and to spend time with Koa before he left. We started a tradition awhile back. Every time someone from our group leaves on a mission we always have FHE together the monday before they leave.
