This past month, we have been busy.
Birthdays-- On Dane's side, it seems like everyone has a birthday this month. Dane's mom had hers on the 3rd. We made her steamed fish and korean chicken. It's what she wanted. Amber's birthday was the 6th, but they had the sick bug. Tiff's birthday was the 7th and we went to Buzz's steakhouse. A favorite! Kiele's was on the 17th but I'm going to do a separate post for her birthday. Normally, I post on her birthday but... I'm a slacker this year.
It's the ice cream cakes we love...
Punahou Carnival was at the beginning of this month. Since we pass it every day, the kids were begging. They were saving money and collecting cans. It was so cute.
Bray likes to wear his hat like this. The weirdo.
Lunch Dates-- So different having Daddy around all the time. We love it. Although he does go out to the Country to help his parents a lot, he is still around plenty for us to grab lunch and enjoy the the scenery.
We've started trying to break this little girl of her thumb. We didn't do it long enough last time. This time we are keeping it on for a month. I hope it works!
Soccer! Bray has been playing. They've lost every single game. We're thinking of trying out a competitive league next time. It's time he actually started to really learn skills and technique. Dane is the coach now since the real one left on a business trip for a couple of weeks. They only have two more games.
The owner of Ebay is always reffing some of the games. He's the far one on the right. Cool guy.
Mika is taking ballet and tap. She LOVES it. Miss Hillary is great with kids. Someone in a ward just started dance classes out of her garage so we signed her up for that too, since it's so cheap.
Treats after dance
These three are taking tennis lessons on Wednesday nights. It's always windy or rainy. Junkie.
I was able to finally go the the temple in Laie. It was my first time since they renovated the place. It's beautiful.
The day I went to the temple, Britt took the girls to the beach for me. They LOVE the beach.
Amy and I finally met up one night. We met at Pearlridge and went to Ross too. Finished the night with Nabe. It's my new favorite thing. How have I gone so long without it? So good!
We've been going to the Ward's mom group every monday. It's been fun to meet new people and make new friends.
We're still enjoying Tutu & me. Mika always calls it Tutu & mommy. When I try to correct her, she calls it, Tutu and you. One of these days...
They started the tumble bus every tuesday. It's free and the girls love it. It's right after preschool and it's a half hour. It's free, since it's part of the program. They pay for it. They do all sorts of tumbling in it. It's actually a genius idea. They drive around to all the different schools.
You have to be two to go on the bus. Since Kiele just turned two, she can go now. The tuesday after her birthday would have been the first time, and the bus broke down.
We go on a field trip at the end of every month. Last month we went to the Lo'i farm. It was in Kaneohe. Tiff and Dane both came with us. The class before our field trip, we made lau lau's. They had it ready for us to eat a the lo'i. It was so good. We took the kids into the kalo fields and Kiele refused to put her feet down. She hated the feel. The kids were also able to pound the kalo. It's delicious fresh.
February is bug month for tutu and me.
They have caterpillars for the kids. Some have died a horrible death by the hands of these toddlers.
The girls listening to a book
At the end of every class they turn on the clean up song from Barney. Everyone helps pack everything up. The kids love helping and I think it's so cute.
This month our field trip was to Bishop Museum since the exhibit is Bugs.
Aunty Nohea and Mika. Mika is miss Aloha. She goes to everyone.
Ev was on Oahu for a day taking Gavon's engagement pics. We met up for lunch. I wish we lived on the same island!
Andrew and Deina were here for a visit. We tried to get the Utah fam together for a visit. We met at IGE's restaurant. Deina's uncle saved us a table and it was great. Ka'i guys, Ashley & Justin, and Amy came with the kids. Dustin had to work. So junk!
The best part was the band and a place to dance. The kids were all over that.
Met Elsie for the first time. She's quite the snuggler.
These two butted heads
Surfing-- We have made new friends. Noelle, David, and I are all the same age. I met them both at BYU but rarely ever saw them. We have Tutu and me together, where we connected again. They took us all surfing and the kids are hooked. The first time we went, we saw a shark. It was cool but also a little freaky. Since then we've met up with them every week. We love it.
We bought the foam long board from costco. It's great for the kids. Mika approved.
Poor Ani... The first time we went with the Lau's she got knocked in the nose with the heavy longboard and then was run over by it. The next time we went we had to dig coral out of her foot. She cried. She's tough. She still keep going.
We use to always get shave ice after the beach when we would visit. It was tradition. Now that we live here, it would break the bank. We rarely get it after swimming anymore so one time we met amber guys to get some.
The kids are growing too fast!
Amber them invited us to go camping during spring break. We've been scoping out the campsites here. We went out to their area to check out Kalaeloa. It was nice but I think we'll keep looking. We went to the beach while we were there.
Kids are doing well in school. Bray got a GLO award for last term. He also got in trouble at school for walking on the grass in the rain. He didn't know it was a rule here. He was bawling when I picked him up. I told him... Oh well. What a dumb rule, although I didn't grow up here.
Valentine's Day was very different this year. We decided not to get anything for each other, even though Dane got me flowers. We didn't have a fancy dinner for the kids. We just cruised at home and Dane got sushi and chinese. It was yummy. I didn't even take pictures of the flowers. The girls had preschool that morning. We handed out treats to our friends.
Moku had his eagle court of honor out in Waianae. It was good to see everyone and the food was really good.
My grandpa broke his foot, poor thing.
Last weekend was Ola's baby shower. They did yakiniku style. It was delicious. Momi did a good job!
