Winter whites

I just love how this worked out - I wasn't sure when I started which way it would go - it ended up very feminine and , I think, just beautiful.  I know the perfect person to gift it to and I'm sure she will be delighted

I started with a piece of recycled cardboard - I tore away some of the top paper and then covered it all in gesso

I then added some texture by putting texture paste through a stencil and leaving it to dry

Whilst it was drying I die cut the silhouette in white and black and glued together to create a shadow and added some Picket Fence Distress Paint. I also die cut the trailing vines and added the same Picket fence Distress Paint to them

I added the silhouette and vines to the nagging with glossy accents

I then drew some flowers on to parchment using a silver ink pen I then embossed them from the back - I added some to the bottom of the vines and the smaller ones to the top right corner

To finish off I added some silver rub ons and a quote that I stamped on to card stock, cut and distressed

I have added these pics so that you may be able to see more detail

Hope you like it as much as I do

Christmas Decor

I started off with a candle plate that I no longer use. I covered it in home made texture paste and created depth in it with my palette knife.

I had lots of  bits and pieces from a broken Christmas decoration - so started to add them sticking them into the paste I then followed the technique on page 60 of the Compendium of Curiosities volume 3 to do my woodland- the bottom picture shows the trees better.

I added some battery lights and lots of glitter which actually doesn't show too well in the photos

This is my entry for the C of C challenge - this week sponsored by  the Inspiration Emporium and ,of course, hosted by the wonderful Linda Ledbetter and the amazing Curiosity Crew who choose a project each fortnight and the creator wins an amazing lot of goodies provided by Tim and Mario . Enjoy The Journey

I recycled some chipboard and pieces of cardboard to produce this hanging

Firstly I gave the chipboard a couple of coats of Gesso and then two coats of Windsor and Newton Acrylic in Burnt Sienna when dried I added some stamping here and there

I Die cut the car and the cogs inked and distressed them and then added them to my Hanging

The hand with the clocks was stamped, heat embossed and fussy cut. I added this with silicone to give some height

I then did the same to the pointing finger

The Tickets were distressed and the large one stamped on I then added them with some pieces of burlap

I finished off by adding the key with some string and then flicking some Black Gesso on with a paint brush

I added jute twine to the top as a hanger

Here are some closer photo's so that you can look at the detail= I hope you like it

Christmas decor

I am delighted to have joined the wonderful Purple Design Team at Eclectic Ellapu= this is my first project and I had lots of fun making it

 This is how it started

I added home made texture paste - following Pamelia's brilliant recipe

I added a plinth and some more paste to the bottom and before it was properly dry I added some Christmas bits and bobs that had been on cakes in previous years

I made a little robin out of  mount board

And added another little bird to the roof

I hope you have been inspired to join in with the challenge at Eclectic Ellapu

Altered Diary

I am delighted to be joining the Altered Eclectic team

For this challenge I decided to change my rather boring diary ready for the new year

My Diary ready for lots of inkiness next year

This is how it started - really boring

I crumpled up some wet brown paper that I received in a parcel

I used lots of pva to stick the brown paper to the diary - lots of lovely creases

I then added Gesso

I added lots of Distress Inks in Vintage Photo, Rusty Hinge and Peacock Feathers and some texture paste through a stencil into the corners. I added some spray and shine at this stage to set the distress inks

This is the back page

As you can see I used  stamping, lettering, inking through stencils - I added some tissue tape here and there and generally got very inky

My diary is now certainly more pleasing to the eye

This is my very first design piece for the Altered Eclectics Challenge - we don't have a theme just so long as you alter something from one thing to another

It would be great to see you taking part maybe you would like to go take a look at the wonderful pieces my new team mates have created - lots of inspiration there - it would be great to see you joining in

All Sewn Up

I just love the fabrics from Tim Holtz Eclectic range and have quite a stash of them now

For this project I decided to back are hardbacked note book

I quilted the fabric first using Heirloom batting

I then decided on the placement of my adornments

My centre piece was stamped on to card stock with Adirondack - I added some film strip down the side and zigzag stitched around it - I love the way Tim does this on some of his tags

I then added some old lace that I had coloured with Distress Stains I added some old buttons to this piece again it was stitched to my background fabric

I added a strip across the top with Zig zag and then stitched my Word Band to the bottom

I hemmed the whole piece around the book enabling me to re use it when the books full

I finished off by making a bow with Crinkle Ribbon - colouring it with Distress Stains I added a Swivel Clip  too it and a little charm the bow was stitched to my completed book

This is my entry for the Vintage Journey Challenge where the theme is All Stitched up using Tim products and or techniques - there are some fantastic inspirational pieces over there if you'd like to take a look and maybe get your mojo going

inspired by the masters

Art Journal Monthly challenged us to do a page inspired by the Masters - here's my interpretation of the wonderful Claude Monet painting  Wild Poppies

Poppies are very prominent in our lives here in the UK and beyond during the month of November they are representative of the fallen during conflicts stretching 100 years

Go Postal

I used a no longer needed old artist palette to create my piece.

I started with a coat of Winsor and Newton clear gesso (new medium for me - excellent for adding tooth without colour)

I added Distress stains - Rusty Hinge and Mowed Lawn and dried with heat gun

I distressed 2 postcards and added them to a piece of hessian and Tim Holtz Eclectic fabric using a tiny attacher - I added this ensemble to my palette with glossy accents.

I stamped around the edges using Stazon and pen collage stamp - heat set

I then added some bits and bobs - stamps - pen nibs - a letter charm and some scissors.

I attached a bulldog clip to the top to use as a hanger

This is my entry for the Recycle, Repurpose and Reinvent challenge where the theme this week is "Postal"

Mixed media Journal Page

I started off as usual with a coat of gesso -I used a mask of the young couple because I wanted their outline to stay white.  I then added some distress paint , texture paste through stencils and some gold foil which was added via embossing ink and real sticky distress embossing powder.

I added some splodges through a texture fade mask and then I added some more colour with Distress Inks.

I stamped all over the couple using a text stamp and then outlined it with Black soot Distress marker

I finished by adding some more stamping done with foam stamps and a couple of quotes

This is my entry for the following challenges

Altered Frame

I used Daler Rowney Acrylics Sap Green and Burnt Sienna along with Crackle Medium to do the crackle paint technique

I then Added Texture Paste through a stencil and when dried inked with Wild Honey and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks

In the top left hand corner I added some Vintage Photo Distress powder on top of some embossing ink and when cooled rubbed off the crystals-one of my Fav Tim techniques

I used another of Tim's  techniques -one that he used on this months tag to add some foil pieces to my frame using Distress Embossing powder and the new to me Sticky Embossing Powder - a brilliant and effective technique you can see it HERE

I used another of Tim's techniques to create my flower having die cut my papers using Tim's Bigz Tattered Floral Die - for colouring I used Distress Stains

I then Die cut some leaves using the Tattered Leaves Die and Embossed them with the matching embossing folder I highlighted the leaf veins by using Walnut Stain Distress Ink on top of the Distress Stain

I added some Autumnal pieces from my stash

The corsage was adhered to the frame with Glossy Accents and finished off with a little Spray and Shine

Here are a couple of close up so you can see the detail
