"Groovy Girl" Scrapbook Page

Well, another Friday has arrived.  This one in March.  Can you believe it?  March, already?  We finally had a snowstorm here in Massachusetts, but it was followed by rain so we have no white, fluffy stuff on the ground.  I'm wondering whether this is the year for another April Fool's Day storm.  :-)  I'm hoping not!!

Today I'm sharing a layout I made for a few challenges.  The one over at Exploring Cricut caught my eye.  It's theme is "NO Business Like Show Business" and the project entry must be based on a movie night, concert, recital, play or based on a movie or song.  So I thought about it for a few days and an idea came to me while I was driving and heard the song "Feelin' Groovy" by Simon and Garfunkel on the radio.  My 8 yr-old daughter is all into peace signs, hearts, flowers and butterflies these days.  She has a disco ball and a lava lamp.  Last week, my Mom took her to have a purple feather put into her hair.  Her girlfriends seem to be following the trend as well.  So I made this scrapbook page for my "Groovy Girl".  I took a picture of my daughter with her new purple feather wearing her favorite purple peace shirt, but it didn't come out as I had hoped.  But there's a space waiting for a better one.  :-)

I based the colors (purple, green and turquoise) on the current Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Me Monday - their 100th!!  I'm pretty pleased with it.  The page is pretty colorful and fun...like my daughter!

I'm entering this page into 7 challenges:
Die Cuttin' Divas' Challenge #54 - Recipe Challenge - Use a die-cut and fabric, feathers and/or flowers on your project.  I used two big flower die-cuts and two felt butterflies on my page.
Exploring Cricut - "NO Business Like Show Business" - Create a project based on a movie night, concert, recital, play or a movie or song.  I chose "Feelin' Groovy" by Simon and Garfunkel.
Fantabulous Cricut's Challenge Me Monday #100 - Color challenge - Use purple, green and turquoise somewhere on your project.
Getting Scrappy Challenge - "For the Love of Bling" - Use glitter, stickles, rhinestones, etc. on your layout.
The Paper Variety - Tic Tac Toe Challenge - Choose 3 criteria from their tic-tac-toe grid to use on your project.  I chose include stitching/create a layout/include a die-cut.
Whimsical Wednesday - "Time Flies" - Create a project which incorporates a clock or wings.

Have a great weekend!

Sweet Baby Girl ~ Scrapbook Page

Hi all!  It's another last minute post from me.  I'm scrambling before the weekend's activities.  Lots more basketball this weekend and February school vacation begins today.  My kids are happy to be without homework for a week, but they're less than thrilled that we have no snow on the ground.  We usually spend a few of our vacation days in New Hampshire with my parents.  The kids love to sled and snow tube there.  But that's looking unlikely with no snow in the forecast.  Such a strange winter!

Today I'm sharing a scrapbook page of my daughter at 6 months old.  It's hard to believe that she was a 4-pound preemie!  I find I'm spending less time on my pages....I no longer flounder for hours with layout designs and paper matching like I did a few months back.  For this page, I quickly pulled together my papers and decided on die-cuts one day, then cut, assembled and embellished yesterday.  I'm trying to use more embellishments, but that's real hard for a girl with a clean and simple style!!  I'd appreciate any advice you might have for me!

Valentine Sweets for My Sweets

Hi there!  Has the sugar rush subsided yet?  My kids had Valentine's Day parties at school....and that means they came home on a sugar high!  And I added to their rush last night with these...bad Mommy!  Each treat bag is a bit different...I gave my children (and my husband!) some of their favorite goodies...gummy bears, chocolate covered raisins, a milk chocolate Dove bar, Werther's hard candies.  Each has a different tag as well.  Aren't they cute?

I made sure the bags were hidden before the kids left for school today....Mom has little self-control!  :-)  My daughter's bag isn't shown here, but I attached to it the card I made for her HERE.

"Would You Be Mine?" Eeyore Valentine's Day Card

Happy Sunday!  I hope you all had a fun weekend.  Mine was busy with multiple basketball games, a visit from my parents and a cub scout banquet.  Good times.

Just a quick post tonight.  I made this Valentine for my niece who will turn 4 in April.  She adored a musical Eeyore toy that we gave her two Christmases ago, so I figured she'd like this too.  Who doesn't love Eeyore?  Especially Eeyore with this expression??  The sentiment was computer-generated and the sentiment banner was popped up using a technique I learned from Fantabulous Cricut here.  Love how it looks....I'll be doing it again.  :-)

Recipe
Heart and shadow - Cricut Doodlecharms; hearts welded to make shaped card with my Gypsy
Eeyore - Cricut Pooh and Friends
Patterned Paper - Momenta "All Through the Year" paper stack
Cardstock - Recollections
Sentiment - computer-generated
Twine - The Twinery
Recollections dimensionals
Creative Memories marker for stitching

I'm entering this card into 4 challenges:

Paper Playtime's Challenge #67 - Make a creation with your Cricut using hearts or a love theme.

B is for Boy can be for a Girl too! Valentine's Day 3x3 Card

Another Friday already?  Well, I most likely won't be posting again this weekend because of a busy Saturday (basketball, birthday party, sports photos and more basketball) and the Super Bowl on Sunday.  Woot, woot!  I'm sure you're all going to be cheering on our Patriots, right??  Let me hear you yell 'GO PATS'!!

Ok, ok. Today's post is a cute little Valentine's Day card I made for my 8 year-old daughter. She saw a pink sock monkey at a store last week and announced that although all three of her brothers have one, she doesn't. "Why don't I have one?" I really couldn't answer. Her brothers received theirs at different times as gifts. So, I decided to make this card so that she can have one of her own.  Well, sort of.  :-)

I had to make it in pink, her favorite color.  I cut the sock monkey and the postage-stamp background shape from the B is for Boy cartridge.  I guess 'B' can also be for 'Girl'.  :-)  I added lots of little details - the red glitter paper for the sock monkey's heart, mouth and hat, the glittered heart-shaped brads, the red ribbon, the maraschino twine and the pink pom pom.  Can't glam it up enough for my girl!!  The card is a 3x3 size for the Fantabulous Cricut's Valentiny Card challenge.  I don't recommend cutting the sock monkey smaller than  2 3/4 inches!!  The eyes were too small to cut, so I used the pieces left over from the interior of the letter 'B' on my black EK Success bubble letter set.  Fit perfectly!

Frosty Friends Scrapbook Page

Woot, woot!  This is the 3rd day in a row I've posted.  My scrap area and my Cricut are getting quite the workout!  I've been inspired by so many great challenges these past few days.  The lastest are a scrapbook layout sketch challenge, a die-cut challenge, a winter challenge and a color inspiration challenge.  I started with the latest sketch at Stuck On U Sketches.  I haven't done a layout like this before and it was quite a bit of fun.  I was inspired by the colors on Diane's antique pin here at Capadia Designs.  Then I cut a snowman for the latest SOUS die-cut challenge and created my winter-themed layout for the Getting Scrappy Challenge at Amanda's Crafts and More.  A bit of bubblegum glitter glue, a few rhinestones, some stitching and two googly eyes later, I was done.  Yay!

The picture is my daughter and one of her good buddies playing in the snow after one of our snowstorms last year.  It was just a coincidence that her friend's hat and jacket match the blues and greens in Diane's challenge!!  The girls were very proud of their snowman and asked me to take a picture for them.  :-)  I think they were more proud that they were able to fend off the attacking boys!

Swoosh! Basketball Birthday Card

Hi all!  Didn't think you'd be hearing from me again so soon, did you??  Just keeping you all on your toes!  Well, I have a husband and three boys, so when I saw a few boy/masculine challenges this week, I had to jump right in with a card.  I made this one using the Cricut Sports Mania cartridge, which is a favorite of mine because of the above-mentioned husband and boys!  :-) I kept the card very simple...just one cut and a bit of doodling and stitching.  Basketball is the sport of choice at the moment here.  In fact, my kids are playing in 8 (yes, 8!!) different basketball games this weekend.  Oh my!  But football will be all the rage next weekend when our Patriots (Tom Brady anyone??) play in the Super Bowl.  Yay!

Recipe
SWOOSH/basketball word art - Cricut Sports Mania cartridge
All cardstock - Recollections
Black Creative Memories marker for doodling
White Gelly Roll pen for stitching

I'm entering this card into 4 challenges:
Cardz TV Challenge #4: It's a Guy Thing - Make a masculine card for any occasion using any colors you'd like.
Celebrate the Occasion #47: Masculine Birthday - Make a birthday card for a man, young or old.
