Children's Museum

SG has a great children's museum that we went to one night.  They had a lot of different rooms that the kids loved.
Here the girls are being queens
Price spent a lot of time trying to construct the tubes to carry a golf ball through.  Little kids kept coming by messing it up but he was good about fixing it and trying to make it work.
 Kylee the firefighter.
It was nice because you just give a donation, there's not a set price.  Which is right up our alley.  Although there were some random teenager there which I thought was really strange.

Another day at the pool.  Kylee was never afraid to get in the hot tub when older people were in it.  She is fearless!
We also went hiking in Snow Canyon one day.  They have petrified sand dunes which were so fun to climb.  Easy enough for the kids yet enough of a work out to get up.  The views were amazing.

We also got to see the dedication of the Provo City Center temple.  What a special day.

It was a great trip.  The weather was perfect!  The sun was out everyday.  Now we are back in cold, gloomy Iowa were it is rainy and freezing.  But some great memories were made.

Pioneer Park/Dixie Rock

Another day we went to this Desert Garden and then hiked on the Dixie Rock.  The kids loved climbing on the rocks, especially Brynlee.

At the top there was a beautiful view of the city.  The kids were pretty fearless about hiking all the way up.

After we went to Deseret Book and stocked up on all the LDS stuff we can't get at home.  Later that night Price and I went to a concert at Dixie State.  It was 'O Sole Trio'.  There were pretty good.  They sang some in Italian and a little more opera style than I am used to.  But it was fun to get out just the two of us.  We were about the only ones there under the age of 60.

Zions

We headed up to Zion's NP to go hiking.  It was beautiful and sunny and the weather was just perfect.  We hiked all the way to the Upper Emerald Pools.  The kids did great.  They had fun climbing on rocks and playing in the water.
The girls got lots of compliments on their shamrock headbands they got from Grandma.

The rocks were so beautiful and it was amazing how high we climbed.
This awesome girl made it the whole way without too much whining.
At the Upper Emerald Pool the water coming out of the rock.  It was nice and cool, the perfect place after hiking up the mountain.
After we hiked we went to Hurricane and ate at Fryz.  They had all different spices to put on your fries and then different sauces to dip them in.  I had lime salt and cilantro ranch for dipping.  Price had chili with nacho cheese sauce.  They also had different syrups to put in your drink.  I had a Mango Sierra Mist.  It was so good, especially after all the hiking.

SG Fun

My sister Kristin and her family also live in SG so we were able to see them a little.  Her kids already had their Spring Break so they were in school and had other activities that kept them busy but we still had fun with them.

Swimming at the pool in the Williams' neighborhood.
Swinging in the hammocks with Rowen.  Kylee and Rowen hit it off and had so much fun together.  he was so good about watching out for her and being kind to her.
One night we went to Pizza Pie CafĂ© for dinner.  The Hodsons love a good pizza buffet.  We were not disappointed.  After we went shopping and the kids all got new shoes.
Outside at the Williams pool.  The outdoor pool had just opened and it was still a little cold but the kids loved it.
On Sunday we all had dinner at the Williams.  All the kids along with Taylor Price my cousin Russ's daughter who is going to Dixie.
We can never get Elly to make a normal face.

St. George

For Spring Break the kids and I decided to head south and visit my parents in sunny St. George, Utah.  My dad has been having some problems with vertigo and so instead of coming to see us we went and saw them.  Our flight out of Cedar Rapids kept getting delayed because of wind in Denver.  We made it to St. George but a few hours later than expected.  This was the first time any of them remember flying.  They did really good and were very well behaved.  We had a flight attendant from Denver to St. George that kept telling us his name was Patrick.  He said it a million times, but he was funny and very chatty.  He was going up and down the aisles talking to people and asking them questions.  I've never seen such a friendly flight attendant before.
Our first day in SG we went to Jacob Hamblin's house.  He was a pioneer and early settler in that area.  He new many Indian languages and was able to go among them and build peace between the two peoples.
After his house we went down by the Santa Clara River and hiked and saw some petroglyphs on the rocks.  The kids loved climbing up on the big rocks and eating a picnic.

Iowa City Fun

The kids had a Friday off of school so we went with the Renshaws and went to Iowa City for some fun.  We took our neighbor Addie Koester with us too.  We went to the Natural History Museum at the University of Iowa.
They have all sorts of taxidermy animals to see and bones.  The kids had fun packs that helped them learn about the different exhibits and had fun activities for them to do.  Mostly they had fun being with their friends and running around.

 Posing on a decorative rock
Afterwards we went to Costco for lunch and shopping.  Emmaly had to do the food for the Stake Standards night for the Youth.  She had to feed 200 people on a budget of $400.  She was a miracle worker and pulled it off quite well.

Wikiup Hill Nature Center

The weather was really nice one Saturday so we decided to get outside and go for a nature walk at Wikiup.  There was still some snow on the trail and it was pretty muddy but it was nice to be out in the sun and be able to run around.  We took our neighbor Addie Koester and of course Little Denver.
