My Jack turned seven, SEVEN, people, back on May 16th!!! For some reason the ages from here on out sound SO much older than the preceding ones. I don't like it one bit. Along with growing older, Jack has told me that he no longer wants me to sing him a song at bed time. Tonight he added that he no longer wants me to read him a book either.
J: I don't need a book at bedtime anymore now that I can just read all these chapter books by myself.
Me: So, you don't want a song and now no book either? (sad face) I guess you don't need me anymore?
J: I do still need you! You do lots of other important stuff for me!
Me: Thanks baby. I'm just teasing you. Good night.
J: Mom, can I have a hug?!
That last quote is the essence of Jack. His love language is no doubt Physical Touch. He has always been so affectionate and my true cuddle bug. He even has weekly "Snuggle Nights" with Jeremy to get plenty of cuddles in. Thank goodness he is still my "little" boy in this regard. I will never turn down hugs and kisses!
I am so proud of the young man that he is growing to be. He ended first grade with all A Honor Roll and without a single conduct mark. His character award this year was "Confidence". Mrs. Johnson said that she admired that he is confident to participate in class, confident to be a leader and confident to be a friend to all. We are working to guide his confidence into Godly leadership and a trait with a good dose of humility. We are so very honored to be the parents to this very precious boy!
