ArgHHhHHhhHHhh!!!!!

my kit lens spoiled!!!
it was during the last day at BHOP that i found out my kit lens had gone crazy and will not auto focus anymore.
so i brought it to the service center pick up point at Kg Jawa and they said the service center prefer to take the lens and the whole camera body to send to KL for service. :( and the worst thing is ... it'll take around a month for the whole process... :(

I'll try again tomorrow going down directly to the Canon service center and see what they can do.

Highlights of Our Trip, Audrey's Version

My dear hubby gave a very detailed account of our recent visit to Taipei, so I shall just share a brief account from my side.

- When Shanna boarded the plane the 1st time, she was very friendly with the uncle sitting next to us, hitting him with her toy, her hands, etc. Uncle was quite taken with her. Then she started crying... uncle asked me 'Her first time flying?' 'Yes' 'She's good, when my kid flew the first time, they threw up!' Guess he must have been worried about getting thrown up on? ;)

- Travelled a lot on Taiwan high speed rail to and fro from Taipei to Hsin Chu and Kaohshiung for work. The high speed rail travels at a speed of 300kmph. The train service is very prompt, down to the exact minute. Some views taken from the train. And my daily breakfasts on the train.

Me and my colleagues donned our 'space suits' for the subcon visit

- Due to the inavailability of facilities at customer's site, I had to use the toilet to express milk for Shanna. The fact that toilets were clean was proven by Shanna not getting sick :) Due to all the time limitation and tight schedules, I was under pressure to produce enough for Shanna to eat throughout the whole trip. Thank God she did get enough. My supply dropped slightly by 4oz/day after the trip though.

- As Tim mentioned, we did not bring enough cash. For the first time on our travels. Must be due to the lack of planning for this trip. We ran low on cash by the 3rd day. When I tried to withdraw cash from Citibank ATM, my card got locked as I couldn't remember my password :P Hardly use the ATM card mah... After failing to change any ringgit in the local banks, I had to call up Citibank Malaysia to get help to unlock my ATM card. I was given another 3 attempts to remember my password, if failing I wouldn't be able to withdraw any cash. Thank God I managed to remember :) Was so relieved... phew.

- I also lost and found my purse. After I paid the taxi driver, I put my purse in my bag and got down from the taxi, but it dropped out of my bag. When I realised my purse was missing not more than 10 mins later, the taxi had left and I did not know how to track him down. On my colleagues' advice, I cancelled all my ATM and credit cards immediately. Then I took another taxi back to the train station in effort to locate back that taxi driver. To cut the story short, I found my purse where the taxi driver had left it at the train station information counter, with everything intact, thank God! I gave the taxi driver a call to thank him :) I was credit-card-less for the rest of the trip, good thing Tim's credit card covered my hotel bill :)

- That same evening was when the earthquake happened. I had just arrived back in Taipei, when the announcement was made in the train station about all trains being stopped due to earthquake. Immediately I called Tim, after all our hotel room was on the 9th floor... thankful to find him and Shanna safe and sound. I was fortunate to be back in Taipei before the earthquake happened... some of my colleagues were delayed by 2-3 hours transiting in train stations due to the interrupted train service.

- Our trip was all about makan (eating) hehe. We enjoyed Taiwanese food a lot! The beef noodles, the beef steak, deserts, yum yum :D
- Shanna had some food allergy starting 2 days before we left Penang for Taipei... in the form of skin rash on her cheeks. That is why she had red cheeks in some of the photos :P We saw the doctor and got her some medicine which help control the rash. She is fully recovered now and we're debugging which food caused it. It has been kind of rough 2 weeks for her since the trip. She barely recovered from all the 'travel lag', then she had discomfort from teething, slight diarhea/loose stools for 3 days, and she had another vaccination (2nd Pneumococcal) which gave her mild fever for 1 day. She's all well now.

Last day in Taipei and coming home

After all the drama the day before, finally we were at the last day in Taipei. It was a mix feeling, one part of me wanted to go home and another part of me scare to take the plane again. :)

So early in the morning, three of us went out to the supposedly "Flower street" market. So we thought that it was just around the corner and we decided to walk there. When we got there, to our surprise, the market was closed! We didnt know that (first) the market only open during weekend and (second) most of the shops only open after 11am.

So to our dismay, we called a cab and followed the driver's suggestion to go to Taipei's national museum. There at least we know it's open and have a huge collection of items from old-time China.

After all the sight seeing in the morning, we headed back to our hotel.

Cheeky face in the cab

After all the packing, we left the hotel at around 3:20pm and the cab that suppose to fetch us were there on time! THank God that we left at that time as we were stuck in a traffic jam 3KM away from the ariport for around 30mins or so.

So we got to the airport on time and after all the check-in, I found out that I dont have the boarding pass! it was a mistake made by the crew over the counter as they overlooked my passport.

waiting to board the plane
We were praying hard that Shanna will be able to enjoy the flight without much problem and a good weather and no other passenger sitting at our row.

We boarded the plane last (as we've learned) and we found out that we have a "ang-mo" sitting at our row..oh-oh.... Right before the plane take off, this gentleman willing to sit at another seat as there were few vacant seats around... phew.... thank God.

So everything was all right, the head stewardess gave us a huge goodies pack for Shanna and will show you what's inside later.

It was a pleasant flight overall except that Shanna was still a bit restless in the middle of the flight. Thank God for that.

Then when we touch down in Changi airport, Shanna was fully awake and happy to see all the things in the airport. We had a rough night that evening as Shanna refused to zzz until 1am in the morning! then also, both Audrey and I need to pat her back to sleep in the middle of the night (that's really sound too familiar.. just like the first night when she was back from hospital).

So, the next morning, we had a good breakfast at the airport and headed back to Penang on the 8am flight.

morning before coming back to Penang

Really thank God for a good journey and protection upon everyone of us. :)
