Halloween, Thanksgiving, Birthday, Baptism & Christmas

Wow! It's been over 4 months since I posted last! I have some catching up to do!

HALLOWEEN
We had a fun ward trunk or treat and our new neighborhood was perfect for door to door trick-or treating! Sage: Minnie Mouse, Afton: Dinosaur, Riley: Witch

THANKSGIVING
We wanted to spend Thanksgiving with Grandma Great in California. So we piled the kids in the car and drove nearly 10 hours to be with her!

We went out to eat on the Huntington Beach Pier.

We went to the Orange County Zoo

We went on a 9 mile hike at Crystal Cove. (Our kids are troopers!)

We let our imaginations run wild at Pretend City.

RILEY'S BIRTHDAY

Riley turned 8 years old!! She had a peacock themed party and invited some girls from church and some local cousins.

RILEY'S BAPTISM

We are so proud of Riley and her decision to follow her Saviors example. And I am so grateful that her Daddy is a worthy priesthood holder and that he was able to perform this special ordinance. We were honored to have so many of our loved ones come and support Riley. Jake's brother and two of his children flew all the way from Texas to celebrate with us! Thank you to everyone who came!

I had my wedding dress made into a baptism dress.
Isn't Riley breathtaking?!

Inside Pictures

It's been too long since my last post! A lot has been going on. I had a tonsillectomy recently and am back at college now, but I have a few minutes to update my blog with a few indoor pictures of our new home! We love it!

Here is a Before picture of the kitchen. It wasn't very user friendly. No pantry. No window. And as much as I wanted an island, it took up too much space. We took down the laundry room wall behind the kitchen and extended the kitchen about 5 feet, which gave us more cabinet and countertop space.

Voila! Here is the After picture. We wanted the kitchen to be bright and open and we love how it turned out! I was a little concerned about requesting deep countertops, but I'm so glad I did!

Here is the front entryway. We love the tile.

Here is the family room. Love all the space!

Afton is 15 months old now. :)

Riley on her first day of 2nd grade! She's beautiful inside and out.

Jake's brother, Jackson and his wife, Chelsea spent a night at our house and took a picture of us.
Thank you!

We bought a house!

We bought a house! And we are pretty excited about it! Right now its a construction zone, but I've been taking pictures along the way so come back and check out the before and after pictures in a few weeks. :)

Some info on the house:

*It's in Springville. So Jake will only have a 10 minute (or less) commute to and from work.

*It's on a cul-de-sac.

*It has a nice yard including a shed, half-basketball court, gazebo, fire pit and massive sandbox.

*We are remodeling the kitchen and master bathroom. (Wahoo!)

*It's ours!!

it's fun to be ONE!

Miss Afton Jacqueline turned one on May 24th! I can't help but reflect on the day we had her. I woke up that morning, two days overdue and thought I had lost her. We tried to get her to move all morning and on the way to the hospital. There was no response. The tears flowed as I sat helpless in the lobby. I was kicking myself mentally for being overdue. I thought letting her come when she was ready would be better than getting induced early. A nurse hooked me up to a machine and we found the baby had a heartbeat. I thanked the Lord for the miracle of life and that He hadn't taken my baby away. The doctor that was on call came to speak with me. He said we needed to get the baby out. He said I was lucky. He had mothers in the past who didn't have good news. I thanked my Heavenly Father again. When the doctor broke my water there was thick meconium, which meant there was fetal distress. She had a bowel movement, or several. A team of respiratory specialists came to the delivery. The umbilical cord was wrapped around Afton's neck when she was born and the specialists whisked her away before I got to see her. What started out as a living nightmare turned into a tender mercy from the Lord. Afton has been our most challenging, feisty, stubborn baby. And we wouldn't trade her for the world! So glad she is ours!

A little about Afton:

She has been army crawling since she was 7 months old. It wasn't until she was 11 months old that she started crawling 'traditionally' on her hands and knees.

She currently has three teeth.

She loves to suck on her two middle fingers.

She loves to play with her big sisters. She 'talks' to them non-stop. It's pretty cute to watch her get their attention.

She says "Hi" all the time.

She claps, waves, shakes her head yes and no.

She wants to be held non-stop.

She has her happy moments (thank goodness!) but she is usually whining or crying. We hoped she would have grown out of it at this point...maybe when she can walk and talk it will get better?....Let's hope so! :)

Isn't she adorable?!

We had a little mishap so we didn't get any pictures of Afton while we were singing Happy Birthday to her. Jake accidentally put her cake in front of her while the candle was lit and she grabbed the flame and got a little burned/scared of the cake.

Once she tasted it, she wasn't afraid anymore!

YUM!

So glad Grandma and Grandpa Fuller could come celebrate with us!
