Christmas 2008
The week before Christmas we had a little Passover dinner. Nothing fancy, we just used one of Joshua's Guatemalan blankets on the floor, candle light & had a few little things that they might have had during that time. Then we talked a little about the Passover.
Trying to make the point that people have always been looking & waiting for the Savior. They would eat Lamb, symbolising the Lamb of god, & the first born. That we now too, are waiting for his return. That the most important thing is to try & become like him. This was not a serious thing, (we do have 4 kids under 10) but we hope it was fun for them & kind of planted a good little seed in there hearts.
GG thank you so much for the Christmas Book with all the stories & songs. We have used that for years, leading up to Christmas Day. We don't read it every night but we try & we look forward to it every year.
Christmas Eve we took goodies around & visited with friends. We tryed to do a little caroling but even though we started singing at the door everyone stoped when the door opened, it was so funny.
That night we opened GG ornaments, put them on the tree, & put on our new Christmas PJ's. (I will have to hem some of them.) Than we dressed up, (in some of Joshua's Guatemalan things) & acted out Luke 2. It was really cute.
Christmas morning the kids came into wake us up, but as always Daddy played with them. Pretending to stay sleeping for a while. It was so fun. They climbed all over us.
We had sticky buns for breakfast, sang one or two carols, & opened presents. I hope it was a wonderful Christmas for everyone.
Josh got me the best Christmas Present ever. I love Josh & our family so much.

After Christmas we went to Santa Claus IN, & to the Lincoln State Park.

Josh & Margene

It is so nice to have Josh home for a whole day.

This is Santa Claus IN, The streets are named after Christmas themes. They have a number of Santa statues, Santa's Candy Castle, the Museum (It has a player piano, they let you sing Christmas songs. It's Cool.), The Santa Claus Post Office (sends your child a letter back from Santa Claus, that is so cool), &. they have a 14 mile light display. We came during the day so we didn't see the lights, but it was a neat trip.

We went to the Lincoln state Park. It is also located there.

Our trip was really fun & memorable.

Everything went well on our trip until we started driving home. We got a flat tire. (Of all things.) Josh, changed the tire with two little helpers. Mom & David.

Josh & Margene

It is so nice to have a full day with my sweet heart. We miss him so much when he is gone.
On the Saturday after Christmas we drove to Santa Claus IN. It is only about an hour away from Louisville, & where we live.
I had packed a little lunch so when we got to Santa Claus IN, we typed in "parks" to the GPS unit, so we could have a picnic. The nearest park was the Lincoln State Park. So we went there, & found this really neat place dedicated to Abe Lincoln. We liked it so much that we would like to go back sometime in the spring, When the leaves are coming back on the trees.
The weather was perfect, we only had to wear jackets.

Naomi, took this picture. She is becoming a good little photographer.

Mom made this scarf for me. It is precious to me. Mom, thank you so much for the scarf I love it.

The kids are climbing over me as I put these photos in the blog space. David says, "That's Me, That's Me, & Spencer says, "Where am I."

After Christmas we took a special trip to a place called Santa Claus, IN.
It is a nice town with a amusement park called Holiday world.
The streets have Christmas themes, & the Santa Claus Post Office really sends your child a card from Santa. These are some photos from Santa Claus, & from the Park dedicated to Abe Lincoln. As it turns out Lincoln spent his years from age 7 to age 21 here.

The kids had a great time, running up the trail to find the cabin & found chickens also.
The weather was perfect, & the trip was wonderful. We would like to go back this spring before it gets to hot.

On our way home we got a flat tire. Josh changed it with two little helpers, Margene and David

And the tree came down, what a Thanksgiving.

The main tree branches landed on ether side of our play house, missing it, our home & our neighbors fence.

The Day after Thanksgiving the girls went shopping & the boys, (without us knowing) took on a mighty project. To take down this tree.We had a storm come from the hurricane Ike. This 60 foot tree was moving at its base. We prayed that we would all be safe & I promised to take this tree down after the storm. The storm toppled trees, many roofs had damage, & the power went out for 3 or 4 days. The first day was kind of nice, all the kids were home, so we worked on projects. We sanded & stained 2 dressers, & a little table.Dad & our neighbor dug a very large trench for water drainage. Dad came in & was feeling ok but tired so he went down to have a nap. His chest began to hurt. He thought it was heart burn, but his face looked ash gray. To me he looked like my Grandpa "Ed" Wood after his heart attack. After about an hour they went to Jewish Hospital, Dad had a major clot. They put a stint in & saved him. I am so grateful to Jewish Hospital & to those who saved him. My Dad is a wonderful man.I got a few quotes to take down the tree. The lowest one was $600. That was expensive especially before Christmas. I told my brother of my wows & promised I would find someone but we might have to wait a while. When we were out shopping for Christmas, the boys (Mike, Josh, James, & my Dad) took on this project to take down our 60 foot tree. I was worried & a little mad when we got home. (Sorry to all the neighbors we may have worried. Mike & Josh have taken down 3 trees before, but never this close to others property.) I had not intended for the boys to go out there & take down the tree. The boys were wise in there actions & prayed before they laid the two main branches down. There is no doubt to me that this was a little miracle. Thanks to all who helped & the help from above. And Mike thanks for this special present before Christmas.[Photo]
