A new March...

I am not quite sure how I feel about entering a new month. Last month was filled with tears, emotions, hugs, anger, and confusion. No words can describe the hurt I feel for Di's family and for her...my heart feels an emptiness that I've never felt before. I will not try to make sense of what happened, but I do know a few things:
I love my oldest, dearest, best friend more than she could have ever imagined,
I have learned that a memory can put a laugh in my belly like no other and a lump in my throat within a matter of seconds,
Life is precious and I will be never take anyone or thing for granted again,
Running is my time to talk to my friend that I wish could text about my daily laughs with students and Jaybird,
I love Lil B with all my heart and care for him like a son,
I am so grateful for her caring family,
Visiting Lubbock will never be the same, but I will never go more than a year without visiting those ole' cross country trails and my sweet friend,
I'm not sure when I'll be able to move my pictures back into the attic away from my night stand and that's okay,
I have never prayed more than I have in the last month,
Friends that you grew up with are amazing, caring and incredible blessings,
Yellow jeeps, Daisies, Ave Maria, Dave Matthews, The Who, Jim Carrey, 34, and running will always make me think of you.

I was blessed with your friendship and now with your family's incredible friendship.

Spring has Sprung

The past two months have flown by! I know they have for you too...and this spring weather is just the greatest!
Here is what we've been up to...

I ran with my running buddies, near and far, in the Dallas Rock n Roll Half Marathon. We had a great weekend and a great race! I am looking forward to our next one.

Since Jayton was born on opening day, Grandad is making it a tradition that they go to opening day for the Rangers every year. James, Jayton and Grandad had a great day at the ball park...look at Jay's excitement!

Nonnie got Jayton an accordian for his birthday. James loves it...go figure! We've been enjoying some great jam sessions by daddy every night. I just might hide the accordian at Nonnie's casa from now on.

And of course, our little Jaybird turned ONE this month! We made it a year and didn't break him!

Now we're just enjoying the spring weater and spending alot of our evenings outside before it gets too hot this summer. SUMMER! Yes, SUMMER! I can't wait to see you again!

One last pic of our 'Thurber' and his growing curly locks...he sweats like I do, and has curly Q's in the morning. So funny!

Nonnie (J's mom) is amazing and babysat for us so we could go to see my 2nd favorite man, JACK INGRAM! I have loved Jack and the Beat Up Ford Band since college, and he was mine and J's first concert together. I even emailed Jack to see if he would play at our wedding...needless to say we couldn't afford him, so we settled for playing 'Amy's Song' as our wedding song. It is sweet song he wrote to his wife...guess that might be weird to use a song about another couple, but we are weird. ; )

Hope your off to a great spring!

Cheers,
K

One.Year.Ago.

One year ago, you made me a mommy,
One year ago, you cuddled up in my arms and made the sweetest sounds,
One year ago, you surprised me with your blonde hair, blue eyes and fair skin,
One year ago, you brightened the room with your sweet baby dimples,
One year ago, you brought both of our families closer,
One year ago, you made your daddy lose all fear of becoming a father,
One year ago, you made our sisters the happiest Aunts,
One year ago, you showed us that becoming parents is not scary but a beautiful miracle,
One year ago, you brought on a new kind of worry in my heart – mommy worries,
One year ago, you made me sway from side to side while I’m standing, even if I’m not holding you,
One year ago, you gave me a new reason to take a million pictures,
One year ago, you made me a scheduled and productive person,
One year ago, you became the ONLY person I will sing too,
One year ago, you filled my heart with such joy, love, and happiness that I cannot remember what it was like before you, one year ago,
One year ago, you gave me motivation to become a better person.mommy.wife.christian.teacher.and friend,
One year ago, you gave me the most important role that a person can be blessed with…being a parent.
Jayton Andrew Thompson – My cup runneth over.

Happy birthday to my sunshine,

Eyes, Ears and Throat… Oh my!!!

Jayton has endured 5 ear infections and still has some annoying fluid, so we are getting tubes in and adenoids out on Thursday. I know this is pretty routine, but please say a prayer for my little buddy. I am looking forward to him feeling better soon! We also spoke to the ENT about his throat and breathing (darth vadar like) and he thinks the removal of the adenoids will help, otherwise his laryngomalacia will improve over time.
We also visited the ophthalmologist this week to discuss his lazy eye. We have noticed that his right eye drifts when he is tired and we were hoping that with time it would strengthen, but that hasn’t been the case. She said it is actually both eyes and is severe enough for surgery. He has what is called intermittent extotropia and it affects his depth perception, and since we know out little boy will be a professional athlete (joking helps me) we must get it fixed soon. We are getting a second opinion to see if surgery is required, but some type of treatment will be utilized soon. Please just keep our boy in your prayers as we discover our plan of action. I know everything will be fine, but surgery and recovery for his eyes frightens us.
Needless to say, we are blessed beyond measure and enjoying Jayton’s sweet and feisty personality every day. He gives sweet pats on the back and cuddles but is also pulling hair and biting. It’s kinda like having a puppy ; ) I’ll post soon about his birthday plans and our plans for sweet boy’s beautiful eyes.

11 months….please go slow March!

Oh my goodness my son! You are 11 months and I can’t believe we’ll be celebrating with lots of cake, ice cream, bubbles, family and Texas Rangers goodies next month for your first birthday! But no rush, here’s what you are up to these days….

• Your sleeping is a little hit and miss, but mostly you sleep anywhere from 7:45-7 AM. By Friday you are ready for bed at 7, but we try to keep you up so you will sleep later…that never works! When will we ever learn! Napping at school is getting a little better.
• You LOVE school and they LOVE you! Your teachers always make comments about your smile, curly hair or how you LOVE to eat. You still love to play with balls and bounce them and then chase them. Mommy had to comfort you after you threw yourself in my lap screaming crying when “big baby girl” screamed excitedly in your face. Your teacher said that you always cry when she comes around. I think it is funny, but I know you will need a more laid back chick later in life that I get to pick out.
• You started to wave to yourself in the mirror. It is so cute! You still love your bath time but are VERY difficult to get dressed. I feel like I’m roping in a rodeo and I swear I’m out of breath when I’m finished.
• You are down to 3 bottles on most days – sometimes 4 small ones. You LOVE food and have only spit out raw broccoli and strawberries. You still make the funniest noises when you eat. You are getting better each day with your sippy cup.
• EARS!!! Ugh! You have had an ongoing double ear infection since Januarish, and had to endure 3 rounds of shots this month. You were tough and they are slowly healing, but we’re going to visit your friendly ENT next week to discuss tubes. He will also check out your throat to see if your laryngomalacia is gone. You still have raspy breathing, but we don’t worry as much as we used too.
• You are pulling up on everything…especially mommy’s legs! You have now mastered the art of sitting back down and have taken a few steps holding on to something. It is so exciting to watch you progress. You love your table top activity table and your dancing elmo. You are starting to dance when he sings.
• You still say, “dadadada” all the time but we’ve also heard a “mamama” here and there.
• You stayed for the first time at Nonnie’s house last week and had ball! She introduced you to bubbles.
• You are eating most things with your left hand and have cutest chubbiest little hands!
• You weigh 24lbs now and are HEAVY! I love all your rolls and adorable tushie…; )
• You have the best laugh and it brightens my day to the heavens.

Jayton- thank you for making me a mommy and for bringing joy and comfort to my life. I did not imagine how much fun I would have being a mother, and you are such a blessing in our lives. We love you very much and are looking forward to celebrating our baby boy’s first birthday! Love you Jaybird!
