Turkey Trot & Turkey Run-off

We joined our school group on Thursday to run the Turkey Trot. This year we all decided to do the 3 mile so we could get to our turkey dinners around lunch time. We had a great time! There was over 30,000 people there and the starting line was madness, but we were able to get around the croud. Running in Deep Ellum is a crazy experience, but fun! My time was 25:45...I was pretty pumped.

Morgan's first trot!

Kyle and James

I joined Marisa and our Plano Pacers running group this morning to run a 15k. Ouch is all I can say! My feet and and knees are hurting pretty bad, but we did a great job. We only have about 3 1/2 miles to go! My time was 1:37.

Shout out to my girl Kori! Great job at the Trot!!! You've got this in the bag - no worries!!! April, here we come!

Happy Running,
K

Nothing could get better than this past weekend camping with some buddies. We had a great weekend at Eisenhower state park, and although it was extrememly cold and Tech got killed - we had a BLAST!!!

Coldplay - Check!

One of our FAV things to do is go to concerts. We figure we should take advantage of living in an area with continuous shows of all kinds of music that we dig – why not?! I figure I’ll have some withdrawals from this when we have bebes, but that’s what grandparents are for, right?! I know mom is cringing.
Last night I got to check off my top ten list of MUST SEE BANDS – Coldplay! I must say that it is at the top of my list of all time favorite concerts ever!!! That’s pretty awesome considering we were in the nose bleed section…it still was an amazing experience. I know must of you will agree with me when I say that music can take you places – like to memories of a certain time or experience in your life. Taking a huge chance on sounding cheesy, but Coldplay reminds me of the time in my life when I was in limbo of what I wanted to do after college. Stay in LBK with the familiar or take a chance on a change. I know I only moved within my state and more than that, closer to family, but I had to leave a part of my life that was holding me back from new beginnings. I remember listening to Coldplay while driving on one of my many trips back and forth from LBK to Plano during my student teaching semester on good ole’ highway 114, and wondering/praying for what God had in store for me. I could have never imagined the happiness he had down the road for me…..Hubby J! I feel extremely blessed.

Top Ten List of Must See Bands:
Coldplay (with Hubby J)
Pearl Jam (2000 floor seats!)
Bruce Robison (2007 dinner and front row concert with him and family)
Red Hot Chili Peppers (2007 with Hubby J)
Janet Jackson (2008 with mi madre)
Dixie Chicks (2000 pre George bashing…still love them)

4 more to check off –
James Taylor
Prince
Black Crowes
Foo Fighters

My fav song was their encore - Yellow

my camera has a TMZ flash...hence the squinty eyes

Thank you J for taking me to a show I’ll never forget! You're my favorite groupie...ha/ha!
Rock on,
K & J

Good Times

We enjoyed a gal day that began with a run, and then Brian made us an awesome breakfast, and finally to my casa for some sewing fun and mimosas. Yes, I said sewing fun…believe me, I may be a Home ec teacher, but I’m truly a fraud….ask anyone that knows me. However, I arose to the task of teaching Marisa to sew and had a fun time making some gifts! Meredith and Wendy enjoyed making fleece blankets for our camping excursion next weekend. Mer seems to think that OU will beat TTU….hence the tacky blanket. She can shed her tears in it next Sat!
Have I mentioned how excited I am about our camping trip with 20 people and then the release of the movie Twilight?! Also, we are going to the Coldplay concert on Wed….we bought the tickets back in June…can’t believe it is here already! I know I’m rambling on….maybe the wind this morning shook my head a lil too much…felt like Lubbock weather!

I just have to mention how thankful I am for my friends. James and I have a great second family and we are blessed with some awesome memories!
Gorgeous Wendy with the Harrell Bros

Favorite Pub owner, Kelly...great name

My favorite couple Paul and Michelle

Wedding Bliss

We celebrated Kim and Dustin's wedding in Justin last weekend...they are simply adorable, fun, and a riot to be around!

Need to Read: 'The End of the Straight and Narrow' by David McGlynn

James’ step brother, David, just released his first book of short stories. We went to his book reading a couple of weeks ago at SMU– relatable, deep, and entertaining to say the least. Here is an article from the Dallas Morning News. Way to go DAVE!
